Yin's eyes tracked the small fluffy critter, surprised that the hunt was taking him so long. By this point it was a matter of pride to capture the thing. He had almost lost it, but he had seen the faint tell-tale sign of luminescent green glow disappear into a wardrobe of all places, and had continued tracking it.

Oddly enough the wardrobe kept going and going, until he finally found himself in front of the very building that had been surrounded by fog the first time. It was oddly chilling being outside, and the creature was escaping inside, so he followed it, though he was now on edge.

Finally he managed to follow it into a room. The other doors were closed, and he closed this one behind him as well. There was no where to run now.

Wilson hadn’t expected to nearly die on multiple occasions. How long had it been now? A few months and already he could not-so-proudly confess he had been stabbed to almost-but-not-quite death, and shortly afterwards nearly crushed beneath an incredible pressure by the horseman of Conquest. While he realized being a hunter was a dangerous job, he had underestimated the intense pains his body would need to bear through. He had broken so many bones in his body during that visit to the Haunted House. The past few days of burying himself beneath the warm, comforting covers of his bed while he waited through the storm made his sports injuries feel like a walk in the park. Wilson couldn’t stop now, though. There was no place to return to. The facility had become his eternal abode.

So it was with great pain he found himself donning a pendant once he observed the sharp pricks in his body had lessoned to dull throbs. His superiors had told him—commanded him, really—to investigate the mysterious house whenever possible. Apparently a second portal had stationed itself at the Lighthouse. It was early in the morning when Wilson, hood pulled over his head, trekked over toward the gateway leading to the Haunted House. The pendant dangled around his neck and faintly glowed behind his goggles. As he stepped through the portal he flexed and unflexed his hands, testing the feel of his healed fingers. Perhaps the trainee should have waited at least a few more days before opting to search around the house, but his leaders had sorted him into the Death division for a reason. It was probably just him, but somewhere deep inside Wilson was an obligation to fulfill his division duty of gathering information. He didn’t know if he would be able to learn anything from this trip, but it was better than bumming around the dorms.

The floorboards creaked softly as he ascended the front stairs. He took off his goggles, which glowed before changing into the familiar shape of his weapon. It was difficult to peer through the darkness behind his mask, but as his eyes began to adjust to the low lighting Wilson found it easier to walk inside the house. He stopped in front of an arbitrary room. Lips remained silent as he stared down at his, erm, preoccupied hands and then at the closed door. A sigh. He let one of his cannons dangle by his side, allowing the hunter to open the door.

Gramps' voice murmured one word. [Fear]

When the door opened Yin had but one thing on his mind. His prey. He was not paying a lick of attention to whoever had opened the door, just the fact that it was open. "Shut the door," he hissed, angry that the tiny flicker of distraction had allowed the small critter to change corners, and he had now lost almost an entire meter of the ground that he had worked so hard to gain.

Belatedly he remembered that he had no idea of where he actually was, so while still advancing on the creature he tried to steal quick glances at whoever had joined them. He thought he saw flashes almost the same glowing green as his prey...perhaps he had been staring at those green lights too long.

Wilson paid little attention to the critter skittering around the room; he didn’t even realize there was a small pet roaming around when he stepped inside, his hand disappearing back into his cannon once he automatically closed the door behind him. He heard a voice that instantly sent him into high alert. While he wasn’t entirely sure there was another hunter lurking within the house’s halls, it was more probable that the voice belonged to a denizen of Halloween. He lifted his arms, readying Gramps to administer a stream of gas when he stepped on a creaky floorboard. It moaned loudly and he grunted when something bopped him from behind. “What the?!” Wilson hissed, looking around for the source. Despite the green tint of his lens, he could still discern the creeping shadows that lurked within the room’s corners. They constantly flickered in the darkness, but seemed ready to attack him at any moment of weakness.

The creaking noises of the house did not disturb Yin so much as the hiss that came from where the stranger had come in. It just made things...off. He began to edge to the side, trying position himself so that he was still near the critter but could also keep his eye on the newcomer. Just in case. And p

A quick glance revealed that the newcomer had a mask of some sort on. As he contemplated this he moved just a step too far and scraped against the wall. Angry with himself for being so unobservant about his surroundings he busied himself by pulling his goggles up and fixing them into place. Apparently lenses were in in the haunted house.

Each step brought forth only more noise. This particular room contained some pretty damn old floorboards. Every time he brought his foot down, the corner of Wilson’s lips twitched, but he continued to move toward the creature anyway. The raspy voice of his partner wheezed inside his mind as Gramps noted amusedly, [What an interesting-looking boil. Is he a mantis?] Wilson noted the antennae on the Halloweener’s head and quietly agreed. Behind the mask, he seemed amused by Yin as the mantis boil donned his goggles. Gramps was a pair of goggles too. You know, when he wasn’t busy being a cannon thing.

“Hello.” It was all he said as he pulled back his arm for a strike. Wilson didn’t find much merit in talking to these peculiar beings, especially when he was supposed to hunt them, hence the whole ‘hunter’ title. He thrust his arm forward to jab the blades connected to his cannon forward, but the blasted thing managed to evade most of it—or was he just bad at this kind of thing?

Yin saw the attack and tried to move away, but had put himself in an awkward situation. The wall prevented him from fully avoiding the attack but the claws simply sliced past him. He backed up, almost growling in anger when he noticed the hazmutt dash to a new corner.

"Do you mind?" he snapped, glowering. "I am in the middle of hunting. Surely whatever squabble you have with me can wait until I have had my dinner." He had never eaten something that glowed green before, and he by this point it was a matter of both curiosity and pride to try the flesh of the creature.

Wilson resisted the urge to bellow with laughter as the creature requested him to back off. The boil was hunting. The revelation amused him. This mantis boil was hunting while he was a hunter, a human who hunted monsters like him. With the blades of his weapon embedded in the wall, the trainee took the time to gently pry it out. At the mention of dinner he finally took the time to spot the peculiar animal curled in a corner. His eyes widened with wonder at the canine. He couldn’t quite discern its fur color, but the mask strapped onto its face was unmistakable. It was a gas mask, just like this. …can I keep it? Normally he wouldn’t have dared to bring home a minipet, but…gas mask.

“I’m afraid it can’t wait,” he replied, eerily calm. He raised his arms to bring down both cannons upon Yin’s head, but they were pretty heavy. No hard feelings, “boil,” but Wilson just really didn’t like your kind.

As the boil brought his odd weapon down on his head one thought seemed to flash through Yin's head. Seriously? If Nurse Cricket had known he had gotten himself entangled in another fight without letting himself fully heal again she would likely be upset with him. Still, if the boil wanted a fight, Yin would give it to him. He slid to the side, ignoring the stinging pain from the blow, and quickly lashed out with his fists, hoping that the side angle would catch him off guard.

"If you insist I shall get this over with and fight you. My prey can wait." There was no where for it to escape to, and as long as that held true it truly would not matter if he played around a bit first.

Yes, Yin. Wilson was totally serious. This wasn’t his first time fighting someone from Halloween, but he was still pretty new at this business—especially since this was his first visit to the Haunted House since the uh, incident. The death trainee was still pretty green when it came to actually fighting despite being awake for a few months already. Perhaps combat wasn’t his forte.

“I do insist,” he responded in an even tone, eyes crinkling as he grinned behind the mask. Wilson was totally serious, but his poor fighting skills couldn’t keep up. When the mantis creature sprung at him with its fists, he stumbled backwards. He sucked in a breath as he clattered to the floor with a loud thud. Wilson winced, attempting to rub his sore bottom when he felt something wrap around him and pull him back until his skull collided with the wooden boards. Freaking shadows.

Gramps seemed too amused with this. [You’re getting beaten down by a boil—] Thanks for the status update. u_u

Well if the boil was distracted by falling then Yin could easily take advantage of this situation...and go for the hazmutt. He darted toward it, not taking the time to the do the careful stalking that he typically would. The creature had a mask on, so he did not even have to worry about getting bit. It was perfect.

Except that apparently these creatures knew how to scratch. He hissed in pain and shook his hand out, glowering at the creature. He did not have time to deal with this now. He had been complacent by thinking that since the creature could not bite it was defenseless. That reminded him of the other boil and he turned, eyeing him warily. What sort of tricks did this boil have up his sleeves.

Luckily, the creature chose not to strike Wilson again and instead dashed for the green dog. It was difficult for him to watch Yin stalk the hazmutt, given the narrow view of his lens. Instead he wriggled free of the writhing darkness, dissipating into nothingness. He sighed, sitting up and awkwardly placing his cannons on the floor to push himself back onto his feet. Hopefully, next time Wilson would not have to deal with the strange shadows within the room. Boots treaded silently across the floorboards as the death trainee attempted to creep up on Yin, but once he was within attacking distance the monster chose to turn around. Wilson cursed. Drat!

He raised an arm again to bring down the hulking piece of equipment upon Yin’s head, though Wilson couldn't say there was much force put behind it.

He was right to keep his eye on the boil, as the treacherous creature was coming up to attack him. He raised his arms to block the boil, slowing him down slightly so he only received a light tap on the head. Still, a light tap was enough to upset him. He was being rude, quite rude indeed.

Yin retaliated quickly, drawing up his knee in the limited space and then lashing out with his foot sideways to give the boil a blow. He drew his arm back to their customary position in front of his chest, ready to defend against the next blow.

Rather than bashing the poor mantis creature’s head with his cannons, Wilson only ended up with a light smack to the side as it lifted up its arms to fend off his attack. He grimaced behind his mask, but then uttered out a quiet “Woah!” when the monster kicked him in the legs. The death trainee stumbled backwards, arms briefly flailing and wires moving, but at least the man managed to regain his balance and not tumble to the floor. Before Wilson could step forward to unleash another attack, he froze and leaned back at the peculiar position Yin had positioned his arms in. It seemed a lot like some sort of martial arts, but what specific kind he didn’t know. “Do you know kung-fu?” The silly question escaped his mouth before he could fully process it. “Uhhh. I mean—“ Wilson paused, quickly realizing it was just better to shut up and actually fight.

One arm by his side, Wilson raised the other to aim it directly at Yin’s face and unfurled a cloud of bright green, poisonous gas. He broadly grinned and did a rather nice job of not letting out a whoop of joy at his success.

"Actually it is a particular type of kung fu known as" Cough. Cough. Cough. Wheeze. Gasp. Cough.

The noxious gas began sapping his strength, and eyes stinging and burning he doubled over in another coughing fit. "What" cough "was" throat clear "that?!" That was not fighting, that was some sort of sneak attack. Not good sportsmanship at all. There was no way to even fight back against an attack like that, just...avoid it. He needed to avoid it.

He was about to counterattack when another coughing fit overtook him and he doubled over before glancing up to shoot a glare at the boil.
