Your Place in the Clan



Origin
Genders: Always Female
Aging: The origin always stops aging from five to ten years after reaching sexual maturity. They never die of old age, and so long as they feed as often as they need, their bodies will not wither or decay.
Importance: Origins are most often raised to be leaders of their respective clans, and are by far considered the most powerful, important, and yet vulnerable of all the vampires you will encounter. An Origin, also sometimes reffered to as a Blood Mother, is the only female vampire who can become pregnant and birth living children - although her children are only another "Origin" for her clan, a successor for whenever she wishes to retire from clan polotics or when something fatal may happen to her. However, each origin can only give birth ONCE, with twins being an extremely rare and triplets right out being out impossible. For some unexplained reason, Origins never give birth to males. Their offspring are always female.



Consort
Genders: Always Male
Aging: Consorts, unlike Origins, were once human beings. They quit aging immediately after their transformation, which can last somewhere between an hour to a week of torturous pain and agony.
Importance: There are no natural-born male vampires for Origins to procreate with, and Origins cannot have children by themselves, so they must find exceptional human males to 'offer the gift' of vampirism. Depending on the values of the clan an Origin represents and her own personal tastes, she will seek out a human man with certain distinctive traits and make him her Consort. Consorts are formed when a human man's bloodstream is introduced to a strong mixture of an Origin's blood and saliva, most often through a deep kiss or an open wound. Their bodies will reform and contort themselves from the inside, changing the soon-to-be Consort into a stronger, hardier, being with a lesser aversion to the sun and a newfound obsession for their Origin. They are the only beings who can reproduce with an Origin as well as the only ones who can create 'Dhampirs' and 'Hosts'. Excluding the Origins themselves, Consorts are the most powerful and respected vampires in any Clan.


Lilith
Genders: Always Female
Aging: Like Consorts, Liliths were once human beings. They quite aging immediately after their transformation, which can last somewhere between an hour to a week of torturous pain and agony.
Importance: When an Origin tries to turn a human woman into a 'Consort', she becomes the female equivalent - a Lilith. They are always infertile, unable to bear living children. So instead of being used as a means of reproduction, they are most often valued as bodyguards, spies, or even Clan Soldiers - depending on their personalities and personal skills. Liliths are always battle-oriented, making them a necessity to any thriving clan. They cannot sire Hosts or give birth to Dhampirs, but they can sire Ghouls with the same method that a Consort sires a Host.


Ghoul
Genders: Can be either male or female.
Aging: Ghouls age as Dhampirs do, living lives five times as long as regular humans. They usually die of old age from around 390 to 450 years of age.
Importance: Ghouls are what you'd call "Lesser Vampires" or "Daywalkers". They are very similar to Hosts in the sense that they can survive daylight. In regards to sanity and intellect, they are somewhere inbetween that of your average Host or Dhampir. They are often mad or simple minded, but not anywhere near the extent of an accursed Dhampir. They are not particularly powerful, nor do they have very strong endurance. A ghoul does, however, have a single-minded devotion to whatever task might be at hand. They are the craftsmen, the leighborers, the workers. Not valued by any means, yet not hated or reviled. Mediocre in all but their craft would be the best way to describe them.



Host
Genders: Can be either male or female.
Aging: Hosts are human, therefor, they age as a normal human does.
Importance: Vampires need blood, and lots of it. However, people tend to ask questions when people start disappearing and blood-drained corpses start piling up in every other out of the way alley. So instead of killing their victems and stashing the bodies away, many Consorts search out and find multiple people with delicious aromas. They befriend these people, earn their trust, and then offer them the chance to be stronger, more beautiful, and to hold connections in higher places. If they accept, they are given some of the Consort's blood. Consorts hold a similar addictive quality to their blood that Origins hold, but more of a highly watered down version than anything. Instead of turning them into another vampire, they become addicts to the Consort's blood - preforming his bidding and letting the vampires of the clan feed off of them in return for the sweet, sweet high that the Consort's blood provides. Hosts, even though they are 'cattle', they are considered members of the clan - and because of such - are almost always under at least one Consort's protection. If one is especially liked by the Origin and her other Consorts, it isn't uncommon for them to be offered special privelages in speech and action that, coming from anyone else, would easilly warrant a brutal execution.




Dhampir
Genders: Can be either male or female.
Aging: Dhampirs lives five times as long as regular humans, so they usually die of old age from around 350 to 450 years of age.
Importance: The unfortunate spawn of either a consort and a female Host or two Hosts who are gluttonous with the blood given to them. They are the most common form of vampire, and make up the absolute highest percentage of 'strays', or those without clans. Either cursed with a lower intelligence or debilitating and incurable madness, they are often considered 'impure' and 'lesser' than other vampires. They generally have less strengths of vampirism than others do, excluding Hosts, but they also have far less weaknesses. For example - like Hosts, sunlight does not bother them. They can also feed off of animals instead of humans, which no other vampire can do. Their place in any clan, since they are most often the majority, is as domestic servants or as dumb muscle - depending on their talent. If particularly amusing, they are sometimes kept around for company alone.

Every Clan is Special in Their Own Way

Each clan has a unique sort of 'culture' and 'style' all their own. Their morals over simpler things, like how to treat humans and those of a lesser station or when it is and isn't acceptable to kill another being. Each person who plays an Origin, or a Blood Mother, will have to fill out the skeleton below and design the bare basis for the culture of their respective Clan. There will be no Origins who are in any way against the common morals of their Clan. I'd STRONGLY appreciate it if you put everything below 'Hosts' in proper sentences versus just listing things. Every Vampire Has a Weakness

Sunlight
In the legends, vampires will turn to ash if exposed to sunlight. For an origin, this isn't very far from the truth. If she stays out during the daylight for three consecutive hours, her blood will literally boil her to death from the inside out. If she is pregnant or has given birth, she can only spend an hour and a half in broad daylight before boiling to death. This is an extremely painful way to go and it places the entire Clan in jeapordy, and as a result, most Origins flat out avoid the sun altogether. Hosts and Dhampirs never have this problem, however.

Bleeding
Origins and Consorts can take an extreme number of wounds before bleeding to death, but it still is actually possible. If you can drain more than enough before the blood causes their wounds to regenerate, they will die. For the most part, though, they are able to rejuvinate any small or moderate wounds as they bleed - healing up in mere secconds at least and minutes at most. Hosts can bleed to death just as any other human can. Dhampirs are hardier than Hosts in this regard, but by far weaker than Consorts.

Suffocation
Believe it or not, they're all living creatures and they all need to breath. Anyone will die of suffocation if deprived of enough oxygen.

Starvation
If an Origin doesn't feed at least every other day, a Consort every three, and a Dhampir every seven, they will all shrivel up and die of starvation. It is highly encouraged for each to feed plenty more than this, but of course, this is the bare minimum expected. Hosts who do not get their fix of Consort blood often enough end up going mad and often kill themselves when they are unable to reach that high again. Ghouls become completely unproductive, drenched in a heavy depression if they are unable to drink Lilith blood every seven days or less.

The Law of This Land

1. Follow Gaia's Terms of Service.

2. Godmodding is highly discouraged, and if done too frequently, will result in your character either being killed or handed off as you are banned from the roleplay. I refuse to put up with this s**t. Most of you should know better, anyway!

3. Use proper sentences for your posts, NEVER use asterisks ** for actions, and type your posts in third person. It'd be strongly appreciated if you kept Out of Character talk within some form of parenthesis. {{}} [[]] (()) <<>>

4. Any mention of the names Edward, Bella, or Cullen will not be tolerated. You will NOT make any serious similarities in your clan to the hemopheliac wussies of Twilight. If you are a fan of that series, I'm sorry to offend, but that ilk of vampire is not welcome here. Please stick to the canon that I have provided.

5. Magic is NOT allowed, and you can only play humans or vampires. Vampires will have special supernatural abilities depending on the clan, I know, but this is as far as I will allow.

6. We will start with three Origins and at least three to four humans. You may send in a Consort for a certain Origin, but her player must also approve of this and your character before you send it in to have it posted up. After all, just because you want her doesn't mean she wants you. Unless the person playing her sends a PM to me saying that you've both agreed to this ahead of time, I will PM their owner and verify.

7. PM Animeprincess_9400, me, your profiles. Entitle them with the title of their Clan if they are Vampire and 'Oh the Humanity!' if Human.

8. I will only be accepting profiles that provide a picture for their character. I don't care whether it is realistic or cartoony, painted or anime, so long as it gives us a basic idea as to what your character looks like.

9. I hold the right to accept or deny any profiles sent to me, as well as the right to settle any dispute or problem as I see fit. If you have roleplayed with me in the past, then I hope you'll know that I am pretty layed back. However, I want to make absolutely sure that everyone know that in the end, my word is law - even if I don't always use the right to exercise this rule.

10. Please remain active if you join. If you go inactive for three days without warning, I will send you a PM asking for a status update and a polite request to post. If you do not reply in four days, your character will either be written out or lent to someone else until you return. Have fun, stay safe, and I will add more rules later as I see fit.

A Problematic Situation

In this world, everyone's out for blood. Whether they're taking it, giving it, spilling it, or storing it - it's all the same. The fools and the corrupted intermingle, creating a neverending cycle of the used and the users - of those who bleed and those who leech. Really, how can you say vampires are so cruel, so dastardly, when you all do it to each other on a daily basis? In Metropolis, nobody even bats a lash at this sort of behavior. For thousands of years, vampires have lurked the shadows of this Earth. They are the puppet-masters behind the strings, manipulating humans often in order to get their way. Some humans noticed this a long time ago, and needless to say, they weren't very happy. To make matters worse, vampire clans used to frequently clash with one another over petty differences. In an underground war, unnoticed by the average human populas, the Clans 'decked it out' killing one another until very few remained. It didn't take long for the vampire hunters to handle the rest in their weakened state. Only three Clans remain, each ruled by a novice Origin with only small ties of power in this current day world. Will each Origin restore her clan's former glory over time? Or will she be swept away and killed, leaving a forgotten and worthless legacy behind her?

Killing//Death: Murder is a common practice within the Immortui. In fact, it's the most common solution that these creatures come up with when dealing with problematic people. Someone disrespects the Origin? Dip their legs into a meatgrinder before hanging their legless body by their arms on a cross somewhere the sun could easilly reach. Someone hindering clan progress? Beat them to death with a morning star or some other incredibly painful, spiked object. To be killed by the Immortui is to face some of the most brutal executions that any sentient being could offer, and that's assuming they don't kill your family and feed them to you first. Point being, don't ******** with the Immortui.
Humans: Humans, until they can prove otherwise, are disposable playthings that can be replaced at any given moment. Children are usually spared from such treatment, if only due to the fact that it is unsatisfying to play with toys that are so easilly broken.
Demeanor: Members of the Immortui are frequently of violent or sadistic nature. It's not uncommon for them to be masochists, those who enjoy feeling pain, but enjoyment at other's pain is far more common. They are not simply mindless brutes, however. They are simply 'Artists' and 'Scholars' who enjoy more than a little bloodletting at another's expense.
Favored Targets: Aggressive or Assertive Personalities. Those who are bold, those who stand up for themselves even in the face of death, are especially liked.
A Dull Flavor: Timid, Meek, or otherwise Cowardly individuals. No true member of the Immortui could give a rat's a** about some flaky whiner who can't stand up for themselves.
Hobbies: The Immortui are, surprisingly, art enthusiasts. They enjoy a skillfully painted portrait or carefully crafted sculpture like any other art enthusiast would. Often, the art pieces they like best are those with violent themes like war or suffering. They often enjoy dark and lively music, especially if it's something that they can dance to.
Specialty: A member of the Immortui can manipulate the corpses of the recently deceased, but only for a limited period of time. The more powerful can control their victems for up to a day, whereas the weakest member of the clan could manipulate a corpse for about an hour. This ability can only be used on one corpse, once every 48 hours.

Clan: The Immortui
Personality: Sable is cheerful and seemingly friendly for a member of the Immortui. She isn't an introvert and seldom knows the meaning of things like guilt or shame. She tends not to show this trait in public, but she enjoys watching other people suffer - especially if this suffering is brought about by their own actions and beliefs. She is also manipulative, not one to raise her hand against another when there is someone there to do it for her. A spoiled, calculating "princess" of her clan.
Type: Sable enjoys the company of those 'full of life', passionate individuals who know what they want and aren't afraid to go the measures in order to obtain it. She 'befriends' humans with terrible lives or severe flaws that they just won't get themselves past, since their suffering is delicious and fun to watch.

Bio: Sable says that she makes her every decision for the good of the Clan. Anyone who knew what went on in her sick little head would mostly hear this as 'I do everything that is best for keeping me happy', although she does have the rare moment in which she acts in the best interest of another member of the Immortui. Although the power she holds over other vampires is thrilling, the responsibility of watching over each clan member and making sure that they don't destroy one another is becoming quite stressful for her. She's beginning to have doubts about whether or not she is suitable to lead these violent individuals into prosperity, but as one can guess, Sable would never dare admit this.

Other: Sable is starting to consider creating an heir to take her place, but as things are, she is uncertain as to whether or not now is the appropriate time to do so.

Age: One-Hundred Thirty-Four Years Old
Personality: Valen is a particularly flirtatious and easily amused being, his personality concealing the majority of his inner rage and conflict at his position as a Consort. Towards most other people (so to speak) he retains the same flirtatious yet solemn mannerisms as ever. However, when it comes to Sable...As he was connected to Sable by force he has a strange mixture of love and hate for his Origin, a complex set of emotions that war against his innate desire to be beholden to no one.

Bio: Initially born as a member of the Hosts to the Immortui Clan Valen led a relatively peaceful life trying his best to avoid any unnecessary attention. His idealistic life was soon shattered during a sudden raid by a forgotten Clan in which Valen, tapping into a savage part of himself previously unknown to him, slew the Dhampirs assassins sent to eliminate the then-Consorts. As a result of this event the human was granted the choice between further servitude and his freedom from one of the grateful Consorts, a decision he had made effortlessly; his freedom. Unfortunately, his actions had drawn the notice of the late Origin, Sable's own mother as an ideal candidate to watch over her newly born daughter. On his twenty-first birthday he was brought before the matriarch, her blood soon being forced into his body against his will as well as being granted the surname 'Paendragon'. Since then he has watched over Sable, being one of the few vampires in the Clan to speak out against what he perceives to be her selfish and self-serving nature. Whether he is in love with her or still seeks to free himself from the ancient chains that bind him to her remains to be seen...
Appearance:
Other: During the course of his conversion to the Clan, the same night in which he was charged to become a Consort, he received his longsword, the very same weapon which he had used during the raid that had sealed his fate. He now keeps the sword at his waist at all times, especially whenever he is forced to be near Sable.

Personality: Twisted and sadistic when not around anyone but his prey. Around others he is cheerful to a degree that almost seems like a small grip of insanity. His ability to find the humor in any situation even bloody ones and the suffering of others hints towards his hidden sadistic nature.

Bio:A budding artist during his human life Joesph or Kael as he had come to be known as in his pen name. His life was changed in more ways then one when he met Sable and was turned. How many years ago was that now? Ahh well it doesn't matter currently in this story. His life changed when he became her Consort a sort of right hand man in a ways to the leader of the Immortui. His life now is in no way comparable to what it was then.

Age: Seventy-six years
Personality: Argues with everyone and everything. Also acts like a snob a lot of the time. Also, she has a lot of problems with authority.
Clan: Immortui
Occupation: Spy, assassin, torturer when the need arises. Alchemist and scientist, when she feels like it and wants to act like a pretentious jerk. Painter and author, again when she feels like being pretentious.

Bio: She was born in Barcelona, and ran away from home when she was thirteen with a Jewish girl which was, quite honestly, the most exhilarating adventure of her life. When her girlfriend died, she was sort of directionless and wandering, until she was found by a vampire and changed. After that, she was a little peeved and ran away from them, and trained with Syren for years before eventually going back, having been convinced that she had to do her duty as a Lilith for her clan.
Appearance:
Other: She uses katana, pata, katara, and wind and fire wheels, like Syren. However, she also uses two USP45 pistols and an HK417 rifle, both very sparingly, as bullets are expensive and a pain to steal. Also, she's multilingual (English, Spanish, and a little Hebrew, as well as enough French to be a pretentious b***h).

Killing//Death: They do it the proper and enlightened way—facing their victim, with the eyes of the intended wide open and aware of their impending doom, thank you very much. While they do not usually spill blood all over the floor like animals, they are not above using violence to send a message.
Humans: As long as they don't bother the Illuminatus, the Illuminatus will not bother them. In fact, the Illuminatus rather enjoy humans. They're pleasant to be around, when they're not screaming.
Demeanor: Generally English, and old. They have impeccable manners. They abstain from violence unless they feel like it. They're a bit snobbish, but relatively charitable compared to other clans. They consider themselves enlightened.
Favored Targets: Intellect, wit, and willingness to sacrifice oneself for Queen and country are all traits that the Illuminatus admire. And, as they say, feeding is the most sincere form of flattery, or some such thing.
A Dull Flavor: Loudness, rudeness, being needlessly aggressive. So, being American.
Hobbies: Books, lots of books. And nothing else. Books are food for the mind! And balls, actually. Rather enchanting, those.
Specialty: They can heighten their perceptions (of time, or sight and hearing) although each vampire can only enhance a single perception. If they use it too much, they start bleeding out of various orifices (rather horrifying, that).

Age: 152
Clan: Illuminatus
Personality: Matthia maintains the manners and several of the customs of her time. She is soft spoken, polite, and generous. She is quite curious about the world with a vast thirst for knowledge.
Type: Matthia is most fond of people with worldly knowledge of the times. She has quite an interest in how the world changes from one decade to the next. Also, those who are well mannered, and who carry themselves with an air of elegance.

Bio: Matthia was born in the middle of the Victorian era in the bustling city of London England. Her mother, the Illuminatus Origin before her, taught her all there was to know of social protocol of the time, and most importantly, that coming centuries bring with them unseeable changes. When Matthia was still quite young (in vampire years) she came to witness the changing times and with them, the near collapse of her kind. With her mother, and countless others now returned to dust, Matthia set out to try desperately to grow her clan to it's former glory before her kind went extinct all together.
Amongst all the death and struggle, Matthia's time as origin did give her one particular great joy. Her first consort, a man she has known almost all her life, she fell madly in love with and gladly married once he had asked and a mere month ago they discovered that Matthia was carrying their first and only child.

Personality: Pride and dignity above all. Charles keeps true to his old English heritage and the ways of the clan. With a usual 'higher than thee' approach to life, he has an aura of confidence and power about his person.
While he can be quite strict and commanding, he has a soft side particularly when it comes to his beloved Origin and wife Matthia. The man likes surprising her with gifts and is a passionate, loving individual in private situations.

Occupation: Clan Father & Businessman

Bio: Born to a rich family fallen on hard times, Charles found himself having to work hard to support his family in early adulthood. The man took failures head on and struggled through, till luck struck and he got involved with the high class Illuminatus clan. Not only did his financial situation improve, he came to find the love of his life within the family of vampires - which he joined soon after.
He feels it is his responsibility to watch over his 'children', the rest of the clan members. Charles and Matthia are now of course expecting their own child to be born.
He is not above challenging people to a fight for honor in the situation that he is insulted, though most people find the notion of a duel so surprising in modern times they just avoid it completely by turning tail and fleeing.

Other: His hobbies include hunting and learning of foreign customs unfamiliar to him, as such Charles likes to travel.

Personality: Obsessed with female vampires, even while addicted to Consort blood. Also, loves Monty Python. A lot.

Bio: She was walking home one day when she met a girl. A pretty girl, one who was in college and therefore (according to her mother) too old for her. But she ran off with the girl anyway, who turned out to be incredibly old, and she wound up addicted to vampire blood. Not a bad existence, really, as long as she can find women willing to sleep with her.

Other: Blind and cheerful about it. Insists she's a master at blind judo, despite being uncoordinated.

Killing for pleasure will only get yourself killed, and a life is treated with every bit of respect, even in the cases of Dhampir.

Demeanor: Instead of immersing themselves with the act of bloodshed and torture, the vampire clan Cognitio participates in scholarly studies, especially the literature branch of things.
Favored Targets: Those who are interested in bettering their knowledge are very popular to the Cognitio, as well as soft-spoken and polite humans. However, a human most certainly has to have the ability to form their own opinion, so as to be able to hold their own in high-level conversations.

Bio: Nicholas was born to a family of humans in service to the Cognitio. In exchange for carrying out operations in the sun, the vampires grant these humans knowledge and an education.

Nick was in his late teens when he was made to work within the library of the main Cognitio clan house. The experience was life changing, but not because he was given access to some of the greatest sources of universal information on earth - but because there he met her.

He had been raised to treasure books, learning and knowledge... but all that seemed so insignificant the moment he laid eyes on Anastasie. His life was flipped upside down. Nicholas began ignoring his duties in order to catch whatever glimpse he could of her and of course was punished accordingly for failing to do his work. He thought his feelings were doomed as well, as he thought he would never get to meet face-to-face someone as important as the Origin.

What Nick had not precisely taken into consideration was how easy it was for the Origin to notice his distant admiration.

It was late at night and he was writing hurriedly to get his work completed, while struggling to stay awake at the same time. It was then she approached him, stealing the empty seat next to him and simply... smiled. Nicholas was awe struck, his fatigue completely dispelled and he stared back - looking a little clueless more than anything. She told him not to let her disturb his work, and he hesitantly continued writing, ever aware of her presence. She simply observed him, while he worked hard to get his writing done. He was determined to do it for her, even if he had little idea what he could say to her once he was free of this task. Nicholas did finish his work and then shyly turned to the Origin - who wasted little time in planting a small peck on his lips.

The rest of that night, and numerous others, they spent the entire time in discussion about endless topics and questions without answers.

This of course was not appreciated by those who felt the Origin should concentrate more on clan matters and the boy should not be distracted from important library work. This of course ended with the claim that they could not be together as they were and that the Origin should only spend so much time with a chosen consort.

The choice was clear to Anastasie and Nicholas, and they stunned the rest of the clan by choosing to stay together. The human was more than happy to offer himself to the vampire, and became her Consort. It came to be seen as exactly what was needed to be done, as Nicholas worked harder than he had ever before and the Origin could carry out her duties together with her companion now.

It was of course the greatest achievement for his human family to have someone become part of the great clan. Nicholas was put into the leading position of his family's company, which heads all Cognitio operations in the human world. They work to advance human education worldwide and support the most successful schools in the country, where they also find the greatest human minds to adopt into the clan.

His penultimate request, however, was for Damien to take on his father's title as the "Vampire Bat", an ironically chosen moniker.

Bio: Jackie spent most of her time in hospital as a teenager.
At the age of 14 she was involved in a large scale collision on her school bus when the driver suffered heart failure at the wheel. Most of the school children managed to walk away unscathed, Jackie however fell with the handful that were seriously injured. She lost the use of her left eye and the basic functions of her arms and legs. Spending so much time in hospital Jackie clammed up, resorting to being a selective mute. She found it easier to say nothing then to make idle chatter with the nurses and doctors.During her stay She applied herself fully into her studies, absorbing information like a sponge. This lead her to help children who were also going to be stuck in the hospital for a length of time, to study and keep up their school work.
4 years after her admittance, Jackie was finally able to move out of the hospital and back in with her parents. Though nervous of going outside Jackie carried on with her education, eventual landing an apprenticeship in a local nursery. The staff have a general dislike for the almost abrasive mute but to the children she's a completely different person, a 'happy' and 'helpful' teacher which ended up in her accumulating the nick-name 'Sunny'. A name she finds both Ironic and heartfelt.
