I am just wondering if this beardies claws are really supposed to be that way (she has since died of cancer, but it just looks too long to me) The owner is under the impression that is SUPPOSED to be how long they are, but they look way long, then again, I don't know much about beardies....

Well, my dragons nails are shorter... I keep them clipped because if I don't he accidentally rips me up when he's climbing all over me. In the pic they do look like the dragons nails were curling under some, but in another pic they have up it doesn't look as bad, it might have just been the angle of the pic. I took a look at their album and the new baby looks like it is in good shape and the enclosure is nicer than Vladie's! The tiles & rocks they have in there should do a pretty good of of keeping those nails down. I don't think you should worry.

Just the fact that they are curved sideways, rather than just down, says that they are too long.

They won't do him much good climbing if they grow sideways, he's much better off having them shorter. ONE of Blaze's nails looks like that and I'm getting impatient trying to find someone to help ima try with the cat nail clippers tonight evil

Claws look off, not sure if it is length or weakness in the toes where he isn't holding them properly. Personally I was way more disturbed by all the grasshoppers perched on him. In my opinion if your predator has gotten to the point where his prey items can chill on him, you are doing something very wrong...

I don't make a habit of leaving crickets in with Vladimir for long periods of time, but even when I first throw them in his tank they jump on top of him sometimes. I take out what he hasn't eaten but sometimes one or two were hiding under a dish or in a cave and they come out and I find them perched on his head and it seems like he couldn't care less.

You see it all the time with caged lizards of all types. I consider it very unnatural. The biggest problem is a lot of people don't even make it a point to try and remove excess feeders. I'm certainly not going to bash someone who occasionally has a loose feeder or two but there is no reason in my opinion for a lizard to be constantly subjected to excess amounts of prey items perching on them like they are a log. I also think boredom, monotony, over feeding and relatively small cages all come into play. I would not consider beardies lazy. Of course I wouldn't consider my mantises lazy either even when they can spend several days sitting in one spot... They are intelligent creatures and they get bored of munching the same feeder day in and day out.

They look pretty long and curly to me. I would be a bit concerned, especially if she happened to be housed on reptile carpet (I don't know if she was) because they look long enough to snag. I have never trimmed Stanley's nails yet, but he is a very active guy and tends to keep them filed down on his wood things. Also, he is still pretty young (but so much bigger than when I got him! He has grown so much. I am so proud of my bearded brat!) Krissim Klaw imderanged Have you kept beardies before? they are pretty lazy creatures. Bugs do not last a minute in there. Though Jack, my Leopard Gecko sometimes gets bad that way. If I ever see that he seems to be "keeping pets" as I call it, the feeders get taken out ASAP and I don't feed them for a couple days (my herps do not get fed everyday unless they are babies.).
