I've never liked the term "Mary Sue", or at least the ways it's used.

I'm pondering putting in actually likable females in my stories, who have a name like "Mary Sue" or "Maria-Susan" or something like that... maybe even making her the main character... out of defiance in how the term is used.

How does that sound?

Sounds like rebelling for the sake of rebelling.

I'm sure people have inserted characters with the name "Mary Sue" or something similar just to be ironic or funny and it does sound potentially entertaining for that purpose. However, doing so while knowing the connotations that come with the term and not somehow using them to define the character, pretty much only naming the character in that way in defiance and no other reason, seems like a half-baked idea.

If you don't point out the purpose of naming the character such, most people will likely assume you're writing a satirical or crack fic. I would.
