Running.

Amrita hated running. But she needed to, her life might depend on it one day! In complete honesty the thought of going through this course terrified her; thunder was coupled with lightning, and lightning created fire. So really, it was either run or meet something she hated.

Well, it was decent incentive, at least.

Exhaling deeply she took off, trying to stay on her feet as best as possible. Within moments something struck beside her, causing her to lose her footing and fall forward, faceplanting into the dirt just in time for a second, thankfully smaller bolt to strike her back.

Fantastic.

No matter!

She pulled herself to her feet, continuing her long trek upwards through the bolts and the rough terrain. This time, it didn't seem too bad...

There was a pile of rocks ahead. She could see them. They were there. They were blocking her way! Oh dear jack this was bad...how did one get around barely knee high rocks?!

She slowed to take inventory and was struck once more, feeling a strange stirring in her heart as the electricity shot through her.

Okay so those rocks posed more of a problem than she imagined. When the next bolt struck her it startled her over the rocks, and as she went to start running again, she tossed her head back and yelled at the sky.

"OKAY OKAY I'M GOING GEEZ!"

The finish line! She could see it...it was right there! But her limbs were getting heavy and she was starting to feel sluggish...oh JACK she was slowing down! No no no no no no no ---

(( TRYING TO EVADE ))

All her attempts to bring herself back up to speed failed, and as the last bolt struck her she stumbled off the course. Yeah, that was as much as she could take right now.


ATTEMPT ONE FAILED

ATTEMPT #2

Okay, course. It's you, and me, and the lightning. I can do this, Amrita thought, taking up her stance and beginning the course once more.

Oh jack, she was slowing again; she braced herself for the impact, but alas it still hit her more than she anticipated, bringing her momentarily down to her feet.

She scrambled to her feet but alas couldn't make the pace she had set before. As she tried to get herself back to a pace, another bolt struck her in the arm. Jaaaaaack~

Ah-hah, finally, back to her feet! The Vetala began to run as fast as she could, an awkward toe-heel that required a ridiculous amount of control to pull off.

Which was why she hated running; that sort of coordination generally eluded her.

THE FINISH LINE!

She was doing so much better this time! So close, so close---

The bolt struck her in the chest and the electricity coarsed so fast and so rapidly through her body that it started to boil her blood, sizzle her unused organs, tearing through her unmoving heart, and was beginning to rip her fear particles from organic tissue when---

She pulled herself forward, through the sizzling and the crackling. Her body was nearly on fire, every nerve lighting up as the electricity coursed through her. So close...she was so close...! She couldn't give up! She wouldn't give up!

The Vetala dragged herself across the finish line before she collapsed, blacking out as the electricity ran it's course.
