you can only get it at petsmart as its their brand of food. Its middle of the road food, not natural balance or wellness standard but not like grocery store food either.

So do you think I'd be better off with something like Purina One BeyOnd (another brand I'm looking at that is similarly priced)? I just want to get them off Purina Dog Chow and the Publix brand dog food my mom has them on. They get dog friendly human food (chicken, fish, veggies, very rarely lean, red meat [beef and venison] ...), and a tablespoon of random canned food every now and then as a treat.

I know that Pedigree isn't the greatest of food, but I thought that, for the flippin price that Cesar's is, it'd be at least mid-grade! I can't find an online ingredient list of the Publix brand canned food, so it'll have to wait till tomorrow when I can get to the store and take pics of the cans of the different brands. Anyway, I just thought that, to my still-learning eye, that that was kinda weird.

I always forget about that site! Its been linked to me so many times on here LOL Tell me about it -_- But Dog Chow is better than the store brand my mom buys for them some times.... Now that I'm home from college, though, I can get on her about at least buying the best we can with the money we have (which unfortunately right now, is the Dog Chow. Money's been super tight :/)

I wouldn't buy anything Purina primarily because they are the parent company behind two of the products involved with the cases of dogs experiencing serious illness [or even death] due to consuming chicken jerky treats that were manufactured in China. Because the FDA could not definitively prove that the products were making dogs sick, neither of the companies that is suspected is willing to recall their product.

Thats crazy! Unfortunately, Purina is the best cheap-ish food there is here. Iams and Pedigree (actually, maybe a teeny bit better than Purina) are both several dollars a pound here D= And Iams has had their fair share of issues as well... Too bad we don't have that one store brand that Gabby (I think thats who...) talks about thats actually pretty good. I think its from CostCo, or something....?

Costco has Nature's Balance, which is a grain-free pet food that costs roughly $1/lb.

Yeah, we don't have CostCo, but I think Nature's Balance is sold here, though at pet stores, so the price is jacked up. I think it was another brand, then, that I was thinking of. Either way, we got nothin'. We aren't in a position where we need dog food right now (someone bought us some), so that gives me time to look around, get coupons together, and so on. (*edit* actually just looked it up, and its Nature's Recipe, not Nature's Balance, that we have here at PetSmart) Would it be ok to switch around with good foods? Like say from Wellness to Authority to whatever, etc? Basically, what ever is cheapest with my coupons at the time. I'd mix the old and new food when the old food started running low and what not. I would try to stick with one brand for the most part, though.

As for switching food around, I cannot answer that one for you. I have cats specifically and know you cannot keep switching food about with cats unless you enjoy wiping up cat barf all the time from upset cat tummies, but I don't know if the same can be said of dogs.

Nature's Something :p Mmmm, cat barf rofl My dogs eat everything. Like, for real. My Rott mix eats frisbee's, my retriever mix eats grass (though thats not that weird), and my moms lab eats dirt -_- I don't think its a nutritional thing, though, as they get dog-friendly people food, the occasional bit of canned food mixed with their dry food, healthy treats... They just like to chew things, and my moms lab is a 15 year old rescue, and we all know how those tend to turn out to be LOL
