I had a stroke before I came to terms with my sexuality, but I doubt it was the cause.

i dont know alot about strokes but if soemthing affects your brain in any way then there is certainly a chance that it could mess with your sexual orientation. its probably a super low chance but i guess it could happen

In my opinion, I believe if you are gay you are born that way. (Not intended to quote Lady GaGa xD) I just think it might take something as serious as a stroke for them to realize it. I mean some people notice hints throughout their life until maybe something happens and they know they're gay? That's what happened with me. While some people know it there whole life. In the end, I think we're born this way, and with some people who want to deny it, it takes something serious to show them they are.

Not to say that all male hairdressers are gay, but I have to admit I was expecting to read about someone with a more masculine job, like construction, which would make it more of a surprise that he turned out that way (did I just make homosexuality sound like a disease? sweatdrop ) Somehow I think he was already gay and didn't know it, which isn't too uncommon. Perhaps the stroke just made him realize it. I doubt it actually changed his preferences.

My thoughts exactly and its most likely a cover up for his family and friends anyways

The brain is an incredibly complex organ. When you have a stroke, it damages and alters sections in your brain, including the areas affecting your memories, emotions, and the ability to interact and have complex thought.
A man once suffered serious cranial injury when a metal bar pierced through his frontal cortex. Afterwards his personality had become completely changed due to the damage to his brain.
It is very possible that a stroke could have affected him in this way. This is something that is much more complex then it may seem, and is something psychology majors could study for years, no doubt.

That doesn't make much sense to me. xD I don't think a stroke could suddenly make you gay. Unless you come to the realization that you almost died and want to become your true self or something. ^-^

I suppose it is possible, but I don't know. The brain is complex but studying strokes awhile back, it usually effects your memory and motor skills (there is actually different types of strokes and each person can be effect differently.
Sometimes people willing change or realize something after going through a near death experience or a terrible illness/death as they want to take that opportunity to start a new life (they realized how close to death they have come and want to do things that they hadn't been able to or maybe be more themselves, etc...). He may already been gay and decided to use the stroke as a way to to start a new life a be happy.
I need to see that documentary.
I can under that guy changing after have a metal bar pierced his frontal cortex.

i assume that, physiologically and psychologically speaking, a stroke could lead to some sort of change in how the body reacts to members of different genders, which would alter the brain chemistry into believe that, because the body reacts that way, it must think accordingly and would develop into that "sexuality" based on what the body reacts to. according to various emotional theories, the mind reacts according to the body, like, for instance, a heart racing would lead to the mind realizing fear, shock, surprise, etc. so it could very well be a plausible outcome, but for a stroke to cause such a strong chain reaction would be very unlikely.

In my opinion it is probably possible that a stroke could make someone become gay. There have been a few reports that when someone has a stroke, they usually have a change of heart on certain things, and have new interests; one of those new interests may just happen to be the same gender. I haven't really ever heard of someone changing their sexual orientation over a stroke, but it may be possible. You never know.
