Okay so this morning around 5 - 5.30 I woke up because I felt that i had my period. I went to the toilet and fixed myself up. Then when I went back to bed I couldn't fall asleep. I had an unbelievable abdominal pain, from my period. I layed in bed tossing and turning for about an hour and a half until my mum woke up. When I heard her out in the kitchen I walked out to meet her. I had no energy, I could barely walk like 10 metres from my bedroom to the kitchen. I took a pain tablet, but thus, it didnt jack schitt. Then mum gave me a hot pack to put on my belly.

Whilst eating breakfast, I ate one slice of bread with a little cheese on it, with alot of trouble too even though I was hungry, I couldnt eat, and when I picked up my cup of tea, which didn't weigh much at al, my hand was shaking. Mum told me to stay home from school. I have never had period pain that severe before.

Any help on how to relieve pain without tablets, because it is starting to come back, and I dont want to take a pain tablet every 4 hours. D:

I usually get back pains when I'm on my period.
It would feel like my spine is separating from my hips..

But to answer your question, I surround myself with cold pillows & just try to sleep off the pain. If it gets too bad, I take pain meds since I don't own a heating pad.

I hope you feel better, hun.

Ah okay, so cold pillow help? Nice I'll try that tonight.

If you want a heat pad, you want get an old pillow case and fill it with rice and sew it together so the rice wont fall out, then zap it in the microwave for 30 - 40 seconds, and voila. heat pack, for $0 emotion_awesome

I'm feeling better now, thanks emotion_bigheart

I usually get in a comfortable position surrounded by pillows (or like a jacket if you're at school) and sleep it off with pain tablets. I usually take a two hour nap and then the cramps are gone, but that's just me.

A good trick is not to think about your period. Focus on other activities and not your pain.

honestly chocolate makes me feel sooo much better when I'm having abdominal pain on my period. But you said you couldn't eat much Dx

Just make yourself as comfy as possible really, maybe listen to music or watch a movie and wear really soft and loose pajamas. if it starts to really take a toll on your life, as in you can't move or you're missing a lot of school, go to the doctor and see if they can do anything for you. <3

Oh do I feel for you. Cramps are the body's way of helping the uterine lining along on its way out of the body, but some days it's more of a "Stop helping me!" sort of thing.

Here's a few things I've found help:

Although you don't want to take pain pills, plain aspirin will help a lot more than most "period pain" pills. It's a blood thinner and will help things flow.

If you use tampons, switch to a maxi pad while home.

Go for a long walk, one that makes you sweat. Exercise really helps loosen things up inside.

If it's so bad it's crippling you might want to talk to your mother about going to the doctor and getting a prescription for contraceptives.

What i usually do is get in the bathtub and soak in warm water. Heat helps!
Or get a heating pad or rice pack and put it on your tummy smile
With me, heat helps a lot, and i take pain killers too!

Unfortunately, I cant get a hold of aspirin where I live, I dont even think they sell it in my country. But I have my home coutry pain tablets that are plain paracetamol... My mum tells me to excercise when I am on my period... I think I was just crippled because I was in shock and lacking energy, but I am feeling better now.

My bathtub is tiny, and gross, so I avoid it at all costs, I use a rice pack that I heat in the microwave.

Thanks for all the tips girls, I am feeling better now emotion_awesome

During my period I get horrible stomach cramps and my hips get a bone deep ache.

Pain killers don't work for crap, not for abdomen pain, although I have found that for me Advil works better then Ibuprofen but everyone is different.

Personally I hardly eat during my period because my cramps are so bad, I'll usually have a little bit of dinner but no breakfast and a teeny tiny lunch. Then when the cramps are gone and blood flow lessons I eat like crazy and can't get enough.

I get REALLY bad cramps and used to curl into a ball on the floor and not move for at least an hour, but I have found out and agree that laying with your body straight reduces pain better then curling.
So at night when I'm trying to sleep I get as comfortable as possible while keeping my legs and torso straight.

Eating helps me and I usually try to distract myself by watching films.
I have heard that exercise helps too but I don't believe that one.
It's probably true though. xd
