So I'll be at A-Kon 23 next weekend and the heads have organized a walk for those who want to come to be a part of it.[This walk is to promote the convention itself]

Hence an idea I came up with. Would it be a bad idea to use this opportunity as a personal pride march downtown with the other convention attendants?

Any suggestions, answers, etc. would be appreciated.

What would you do to make it a personal pride march?

Mainly just wear the scarf my friend Erin gave me. I'd use a sign, but the convention made it clear that signs are not allowed.

I don't see a negative with wearing the scarf.

Yeah.
But I'm unsure if the convention will permit the get-up though.
They said if people were to come in costume, they were to go as yokai.

And what the heck is a 'yokai'?

I believe yokai is a ghost, phantom, strange apparition that are a class of supernatural monsters in Japanese folklore. Kind of weird that you can only go as a yokai if in costume. What kind of convention is this? Most comic and anime convention allows you to dress up as anyone as long as you follow their dress code (nothing too inappropriate) and don't bring actual weapons or have katana's bonded (depending on the convention).

I see nothing wrong with a scarf. I don't know if it would be a bad odea or not, but remember that is not the purpose of the convention so there might not be many people willing to march or they would rather spend their time at the convention itself. But I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed, just read up all all the rules first.
