Intro

Once, a long time ago, before time even existed, there was said to be a place in the universe where the hearts of those who lived there could sing and if you tried hard enough you would be able to hear them from anywhere in the universe. People from across the stars would come to hear the sound and be mystified by its beauty. Some who came had hearts only made for greed, anger, or evil but all of them who came and heard the song were changed, enlightened in their own ways, and their hearts' song became beautiful too. But as more and more people came the louder and louder the song became, reaching all the way to the ends of everything. This was when It came. It had heard the song and been awoken from its slumber in the far reaches of space, for the song, which was so pure and beautiful, was like poison to it. For this being was an embodiment of all things evil. It was the Darkness, the Evil, the Devil, the Terror. Whatever it set its eyes upon was reduced to nothing. Stars were extinguished, planets were reduced to dust, and life as we knw it ceased to exist. All except this one place, a place where it is said that the hearts of the ones living there could sing. The planet had been protected by another being, the equal and opposite of the Terror, the Hope. But now the Terror had destroyed everything, the universe had been reduced to nothing and the ones on the planet, who could no longer see the universe that their songs had reached, for the first time, wept in saddness for their fallen stars. So they sang. They sang a beautiful and sad song. All the hearts of all the planet became as one that day and sang their last song. For the Terror had come. But as their planet was beset by this evil one heart sang out in protest and the song became a cry and the cry became a force and that force worked through all the hearts of all the planet. The one voice could be heard above all others as a beacon of hope. So it was that the Terror became perplexed by the sound and reeled in anger. But by the time it had heard the sound it was too late. The Terror was being undone by the Starfall's Lament, as it was called from that moment on. But this song would come at the gravest of costs, for all who sang this song became like stone and were no more. So the last planet, where the heart of those who lived there could sing, became quiet. So much was the saddness of the Hope that his greatest friends had sacrificed themselves for its sake that it expanded and became the universe we live in today, or so the stories say. But now in this great day and age of space travel there are those who believe that the legendary place still exists. So the great hunt has begun for the Planet of Hope. The first starship set for the hunt is the S.S. Starfall's Lament, after the song that saved all of existence. Now you must help to find this planet as a crew member, a stow-away, or as any kind of passenger. The dangers are unknown as you fly across the stars but with the thought that the planet awaits you at the end you can take on anything. So climb aboard, the song of your heart awaits.

2. Username: Ty Gwynnia
Character Name: Felix Ender MK 4.3
Age: Officially 32 years old but has been in service for 49 years
Race: Android
Personality: Uncaring, standoffish, and generally unconcerned with other people's problems. The personality chip installed was intended for far more than basic interactions but Felix is perfectly fine with letting dust settle on those.
Biography: Felix wasn't the best guy around when he was human. In fact, he was considered a deadbeat who was fairly anti-social. At a young age he ran away from home and fell into the underground world of gangs and mafias. Although he was good at his trade even his fellow mobsters said that something about him rubbed them the wrong way. In the end, he left the dark life and became a gambler with the small fortune he'd amassed in a city that used to be called the City of Sin, but now the City of Loss. It had once been an adult city, then a family experience, and finally a place where people went to disappear. He'd tired of living and maintaining a "life". It was there that his old companions found him and tried to off him, deciding that a man like him shouldn't still be breathing. After beating them back and fleeing through the slums Felix's life would have been ended by the passing bus that hit him if not for a tired, broken down inventor. Felix found that he really didn't want to die and begged the man to help him by making him an android. The man tried to protest, despite his willingness to help. He had no money and the kind of inventing life he used to lead was no more. Felix didn't care, and cash was no obstacle either. The inventor caved in and agreed, and a few grueling operations later Felix's body was as "human" as he'd been before, which wasn't much at all. Throughout the years following, he stayed by the aging man's side and learned more about his savior, Ean Anderson, whom he calls master. Although he'd shut down much of the personality chip that Ean had installed he found, to his amazement, that he felt gratitude and affection for the inventor, even calling him his friend. Nearing the 5th decade of his android life his master broke it to him that he was dying, and had been for years. Fear filled his servos and the still biologically human part of Felix despaired at the impending loss of Ean. Ean only had one thing to say to him about the subject after the long explanation, the first ever command that he'd dared to give Felix. He asked if the android had ever heard of the story of the Planet of Hope's fall. It was a children's story, so of course he had. The inventor had heard of a brave soul who was off to find said planet. It was his wish to hear the famed song that came from the heart but feared that he could not make the journey. His last wish before seeing Felix off with money for a ticket was that the android would board the ship and find the planet, and then return with a recording of the song or even a video feed. He didn't expect Felix to comply, but Felix did with promising that he'd return before the year was out.
Passenger Status: Civilian
Skills: Equipped with 8 different guns concealed inside of his body, street-fighting knowledge, and he's also an expert at creating and producing holograms from his eyes.
Appearance: Felix is a tall man, near 6 feet, and his body mass is equal to that of a professional boxer. His hair is a light-brown, a little bleached from the sun, and cut a few centimeters longer than military short. His eyes, as they had been before, are a basic blue. On his cheek there is a IV engraved on the synthetic skin. Most of his body is inorganic and robotic thanks to his accident but the metal inside of him isn't as heavy as most androids created, although his muscles make up for that and add additional weight. He wears a dark blue t-shirt, brown pants, and black boots.
Other: Felix's inventor programmed many things into him after he was sure that he'd live. From codes to memory banks, there are many things inside his semi-human brain that are a mystery even to him, including a multitude of partial star charts, notes, and coordinates.

Username: Ty Gwynnia
Character Name: Nina Keeper
Age: Appears to be in her twenties
Race: Elf
Personality: Quiet, helpful, and kind. Nina is day-dream prone but as she warms up to people she's more social.
Biography: After waking up inside of a library during closing hours, the local authorities took Nina to the hospital when they found mysterious scars on her hands and she could not offer any explanation. It was found that she suffered with dissociative fugue, a psychological condition that is commonly confused with amnesia. Thanks to that, she had to start a new life, beginning from the library. For months she went from one job to another but none were as interesting as a librarian's assistant, even if it didn't pay as much. One of her many job applications was for a crew member position on a ship set out for a planet that was famed to even exist. After reading up on the story, she was surprised when her application was accepted, and she caught quickly onto the job of running errands and carrying messages across the length of the ship with ease.
Passenger Status: Crew
Skills: Nina is quick, agile, and likes to think that her random bursts of insight are notable. She is knowledgeable with lore thanks to her recent days in the library.
Appearance: Nina stands at 5 feet and 6 1/2 inches tall with a body weight of 115. She has deep green eyes and pointed ears. Her hair is white but is streaked with chestnut brown strands and hangs down to her waist, normally restrained in a high ponytail. Attire consists of a black vest, a short sleeved button-up white shirt, worn dark pants, black fingerless gloves to hide the angry red scars on her palms but fail to hide the thinner streaks on the underside of her fingers, and a dark sable cloak about her shoulders. Most of the time she runs around barefoot but she does own a pair of sandals that fit somewhere in the underside of her cloak.
Other: Nina wears around her neck a blue teardrop shape gem on a chain that she often reaches up to grasp, consciously or not, and considers it to be dreadfully important. Her cloak is clasped over the right side of her chest with a small golden pin, the emblem an hourglass. She also hides a few different journals filled with runes in her cloak, leading one to believe that it's not simply cloth, and can often be seen reading them.

Opening Post

I was standing in the midst of a dream, of a lonely girl, sitting in a world tht had ended. No light shone upon her tiny frame but from that of the moon, entering through a large hole in the ceiling of the cracked and exposed struture we were inside. No sound was heard, all except the song the little girl was singing. It was a beautiful song. "Mister." Huh? She spoke to me? But she's singing. "Mister, you gotta..."What is this? Isn't this just a dream? Hmph, nothing is just anything. "Mister, you can't sleep here." Suddenly Jake jumpped up, fully awake now. "Gah, jeez lady. Don't sneak up on a guy like that. Can't I sleep in peace?" "I am sorry, sir, but we can't have people laying on the benches like that. If you need somewhere to sleep then go to the hospice." A lady in a blue orderly suit had walked up to Jake as he slept, obviously she had been notified that he was here. Jake looked at the woman and sighed, standing up. "Fine, fine, but no hospice. If I need a bed then i'll buy one." Jake dusted his coat off and picked up his staff. "With what? Lint?" The lady scoffed at Jake and walked away, heading to do her rounds along the streets of the small port town. "Jeez, what a woman, nice butt too." Jake had been constantly sizing the woman up as he had been speaking to her, but enjoyed watching her leave more than coming. "Oh well, no time to regret lost oppertunities. Now, where was that star port?" Jake went off down the packed street as floating vehicles and bikes zipped over head and over the towering structures that made up the small city. This is Earth, the year 3235. Space trael was now common place and the continuing need for space drove them to build huge buildings spaning across the entire planet. Earth had become the human race's first planet city. In truth it was made up of several small cities connected by other small cities. It was all rather complicated, you could step through one city and land in somewhere else just as fast. Jake wa heading for a small town near the coat of what used to be Italy. A ship was going to begin an expidition to somewhere important, at least that's what his mentor had always said. He had to board that ship and he had to go to that place. He had to find that girl in the world that had ended.

From the date that she'd woken up confused in a library, Nina had quickly found out that Earth was a fast moving place. The cities, the vehicles, the people. She never saw anyone really take a break or sit down and watch everything go by. Some people did but they preferred to sit on their own and usually ignored her when she tried to make conversation. But that didn't matter today. Today she'd picked up a few last minute things to bring back to the Lament before its voyage. They weren't much, yet she figured that when she wasn't working as part of the crew then she'd like to read or stare out at space. She'd never been in space to knowledge but reading would keep her entertained for a while.

Somewhere else, Felix was making sure that he also had his own supplies on hand. The android really didn't need much at all. Technically, he would be considered half of an android or a cyborg, but he didn't care about the specifics. If anyone asked his race he'd tell them what he saw himself as. He set his knapsack down and glanced at his fist. Unclenching his fingers revealed a faded ticket resting in the center of his palm. He looked up from the small piece of paper and around at his surroundings. It hadn't taken long to get to the town but now he had the fun of finding the port and the right ship.

Jake was walking along, not really paying much attention to where he was going, which in hind sight wasn't a very good idea as he soon rammed right into someone, their head smashing into his chest. "Gah!" Jake began to cough, the wind knocked out of him. "Ah, man. Watch where you're going." Jake looked up to see a young elf girl with many books and pieces of paper. "Oh, wow. An elf. I'm sorry, are you alright?"

"Ah!" Nina felt someone crash into her side and she struggled to hold onto her burden as it threatened to fall out of her arms to the ground. "I was watching where I was going." She replied with a tiny bit of annoyance. It was mainly due to the fact that whoever had walked into her had at first been ready to be rude to a stranger, and then became polite after noticing her. She glanced up from the now steadied pile of books at the one who'd hit her. "You're...You're a..." With a frown, the answer she'd been looking for left the tip of her tongue as it often did. "I don't know what you are, sorry. Do I know you?"

"I'm a dog and human hybrid and you are an elf." Jake smiled. "I knew a few elf kind. A long time ago. Tell me, if you don't mind, your name?" Jake's mind went to his memories of a small planet a long ways away. He quickly shook himself out of his trance to look at the elf that he had mistaken for an old friend for a moment. But it couldn't be.

"Other elves?" Nina repeated quietly. She hadn't seen any others like her, only humans or humanoids, like the captain. Meeting with her own race would be nice, maybe they could help her out, but this guy said that it had been a long time ago. No luck there. She saw a distant look pass in the other's eyes and waited for his attention to stop wavering. "It's Nina. Nina...Keeper. At least that's what it is now. What's yours?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2012 10:55 pm
Jake smiled. "People call me Strider and no, there are very few elf kind alive today. Even on other planets. But I'm sorry for running into you. And if I may say, you look very much like an old friend of mine." Jake put a hand into his pocket, rubbing his fingers on the shades he always carried but after quickly drawing out his hand he cleared his throat. "Now, may I escort you to wherever you're headed?"

"Mm...It's fine, I'm not hurt. I don't know who I look like that's familiar to you, maybe I'm related to them but I don't remember, I'm sorry." Nina sighed sadly. The thought that there were not many like her still alive dampened her spirits at finding them, but at least there was a chance she could run into another elf. Maybe if she asked around someone would know? She would on the ship, a passenger might have a suggestion or two. "Y-you don't have to escort me anywhere if you don't want to...But if people call you Strider, then what's your actual name?"
PostPosted: Thu Jul 19, 2012 9:12 pm
"That, is a secret." Jake smiled playfully at Nina. "If I ever get to know you more then I may tell you. But as for escorting you, I don't mind. You're not too bad looking, I'd be honored to escort such a beautiful woman."

((What does a star port for ships look like? I'm not sure what to put for Felix since he's in that area.))

"Oh..." Nina glanced away as she blushed a tiny bit. Flattery made her feel uncomfortable and even more shy than normal, mainly because she never knew how to respond. "Well, thank you..."

PostPosted: Sat Jul 21, 2012 6:16 pm
((I'd say it would be a set of four buildings, like posts that hold up the starship before launching. To board you'd have to enter the building and ride an elevator up to a bridge into the ship.))

Jake chuckled. "Well i'll let you lead the way. I don't know where you're headed. Where were you heading again?"

((Oh, okay. So that means only four ships would be able to dock at one time, right? Or four post-like buildings and one in the middle?))

"I'm...heading to the star port. I work on a ship that's about to be leaving soon and I wanted to get a few things before it sets off. I don't think the captain would just forget about me but I get lost often in this city..." Nina trailed off as she spoke, glancing around. Her eyes lit up shortly after searching and she hurried off, looking behind her at Strider.
