Marisako Reina first met her husband to be, Satosuke Merino, at the age of seventeen. He worked as a waiter at one of her favorite cafe spots in the village. At first it was mere glances she'd steal of him, but soon enough, every time she came into the shop, he would be the one to come and greet her and care of her orders. After a year of light flirtations, Satosuke got the courage to ask Marisako on a real date that didn't involve him leaving periodically to help others or wait on Mari's hand and foot while she was there. The woman agreed and a love soon blossomed.

A year and a half later, the two were wed and moved into a house of their own. It was a few weeks later when they received the news of a child being on the way. When the girl was born, she was named Serena. For the serene face she held. The child never screamed or fussed, and always took what was given to her willingly. Her personality never seemed to waver as she grew older and older. When the time came for her parents to choose whether or not to enroll her into the Shinobi Academy, they let the girl decide. She made a sort of displeased face and questioned if she would need to fight a lot. Her parents didn't lie and told her yes, but how she went about doing that to protect the village was completely up to her. Serena smiled and went on to say,

"As long as I don't have to hurt anyone physically, I think I'll become a Shinobi."

At the age of twelve, the girl graduated the Academy as a more than average girl. Swearing she would never touch another person to harm them, she decided to focus on the more ranged ways of fighting and protecting, the girl jumped into learning Genjutsu. Unfortunately, it was soon after she began her Shinobi life that her mother became gravely ill and was bed-ridden. The Medical Shinobi of the village told her and her father that they were unable to find what was causing the illness, and to enjoy their time with their mother as best they could until the time when she returned the earth.

Hearing the news was brutal for a thirteen year old girl. Motherless so young, there was something she had to do to prevent it! It took her a while to think of what she could do for her mother other than just being in the house to help her when she needed, but as soon as Serena figured it out, she jumped on that train and ran with it. Eiseijutsu was something she could delve into with all her might and find a way to help her mother. Just because those other Medical Shinobi couldn't find a way to help her, didn't mean it was hopeless.

It's been two years since the day the family found out about the illness, and her mother's condition has only began to worsen. This recent information has only set Serena more into her mission of finding a way to help her mother. And luckily for her, her father was fully behind her and made sure to get her everything she needed in order to learn all she could, and go everywhere she needed. The mother didn't have much longer to go, and it was quickly becoming visible that she had roughly a year left. In this time, Serena had to do everything she could to get her mother well or she would lose her completely.

Feeling the heat from her father about quitting her Shinobi Profession and beginning a family, the twenty six year old Marisa began to ponder if she even wanted to begin a home of her own. She enjoyed protecting her village with all she had with little on her mind other than getting the job done. That was, until she was put on a mission with a silver haired man. What she first noticed about the guy was the fact he always had a white sash on his arm. On their first mission together she questioned him about it. He replied, "If I get to know you better, I may just tell you." This got under the girl's skin and she began to pester him more and more. Finally he grabbed her by the arm and pinned her against a tree. "How about you go on a date with me AFTER the mission instead of getting in my way." She spit in his face and caused him to slap her across the face. Such were the beginnings of their strange description of love.

It was four years later, after many months of fighting over whether or not Marisa was even pregnant when a silver haired child was born. With both of the parents being active duty Shinobi, the child was often left in the care of her nanny. The family had plenty of money since neither wasted it on trivial things for themselves, so it was more often than not spent to spoil the child. From the moment she could walk, she was taught how to use her body to manipulate her chakra. Before she was allowed to enter the Academy, she had already learned the basics of Chakra control and utilized it well. Upon being allowed to skip most of the formal training of the Academy, she passed the final test that was supposed to be taken when students were ready to graduate. Her parents were able to convince the teacher to allow her to move on like any other person who passed the test. So, at the age of six, the young Unagi girl became a Genin.
