When a person dies, the only real way I change how I talk about him or her is I change the present tense to the past tense.

For instance, "Michael Jackson is a *****" becomes "Michael Jackson was a *****", Or "Elvis is awesome" to "Elvis was awesome" though I wasn't alive for that one.

The closer I or the person who lost a loved one was was to the person the more sentimental I get. ^^;

Maybe it is the way we describe them as the Late Elvis or the Late Michael. We condition ourselves to think late as the past tense.

Ah. That seems normal enough. 3nodding Your celebrity examples sound like they're matter of fact since it's not like you knew them personally. That doesn't necessarily imply anything negative I would think.
