[1v1] Playtime is over (Freya vs Shun) FIN

Things were still eating away at the back of his mind as Shun struck the training dummies over and over with his blades. It was strange, the way he was craving power. It wasn't simply just the strive to improve. It was outright desire. He was hungry for strength, and he wasn't sure how to acquire it soon. Well, there was always training, which was probably why he was working hard right now in the gym.

But it wasn't quite enough.

After stabbing into the dummy, he paused as the scenery flickered into different colors for just a moment. There was an echo of a hiss, saying that he only needed the shards.

Shards? What shards? Furrowing his brow, he placed a hand to his head. There was also the voice saying how he had hurt her. It was the same voice as the other, though speaking in a different tone. They were his voice.

Why couldn't he remember this happening?

Grimacing, he shoved these things to the side and struck the dummy once again.

The sound of blades sinking over and over into training dummies had a pleasing quality. Freya knew not to sneak up on Shun, this time. For once, she made her presence known as best as possible, dropping her bag nearby and moving to lean against one of the unused dummies. She gave Shun a heavy lidded smirk, and waved one wing.

"Dummies don't hit back." She murmured, very quietly. It was an invitation, and it wasn't the kind she was used to giving. There was no excitement, no hopping all over him to bother him, just an offer. To spar.

Shun heard the bag dropping, but he didn't look over until he had struck the dummy a few more times, throwing in a kick or two along with his dagger strikes. Letting out a breath after doing so, he glanced towards the Valkyrie, half expecting her to soon get right in his face or something like she normally did.

There was none of that. Her voice was quieter than usual too. Strange.

"I am well aware, but I had to make due with what I had," he said calmly while facing her more directly.

"But, having an actual opponent always trumps a stationary or non-existent one," he added while looking her over. Was she seeking a fight perhaps?

"Is true." Freya nodded, walking over and pushing him with three fingers, right on his shoulder. "So let me trump you."

Her smile was only widening.

"We'll see about that," Shun said before jumping back after he was pushed lightly. He bowed lightly, then crouched down with his daggers before him. He didn't say if he was ready or not, but judging by the his current posture, he was more than ready to begin at any moment.

The Reaper was simply waiting for an opportunity.

That was something Freya realized she truly admired about Shun. He was always ready for a fight - there was no small talk, no necessary little complication, or even an attempt to be friendly. Now that she had a new lease on life, she respected Shun's down to business attitude. She kind of hoped that one day, she would be able to take things just as seriously as he did.

She was trying.

In her hand, the long scythe slowly appeared. She held it with both hands once it had completely formed, and held it out in front of her defensively.

She didn't even say a word.

Shun was a little surprised actually. Freya was being quieter than usual, and he had expected her to taunt him in the very least. Had something happened? Now wasn't the time to be speculating this. Instead, he watched as she summoned her own weapon, taking a moment to try and judge a thing or two. She had a reach advantage for sure, and she had the mobility of flight. However, a scythe that large would be difficult to use at a very close range.

He was going to need to be quick.

The Reaper let out a slow breath, then made his move. He kicked off the ground, propelling himself forward as quickly as he could. Coming in closer, he lunged forth, bringing his left dagger up to slice across her torso.

Of all the places he could have struck..

Freya looked ready to fight, but when she felt the bite of the dagger against her torso, her scythe clattered to the ground as both of her arms came up to wrap around her stomach. She felt the haunting phantom pain of the past, and for that one, long moment, Freya looked absolutely broken. She looked like she was going to burst into tears.

And he'd only managed one hit.

She picked up her scythe, took a deep, calming breath, and shakily returned fire - slicing her scythe across his torso without getting too close. Still, through all of this she remained silent, and made no mention of that moment of panic she'd just experienced.

Seeing Freya's reaction actually threw Shun off. That one blow didn't seem particularly strong and yet he managed to disarm her for the moment. That look she gave was not something he expected either. She shouldn't be completely unaccustomed to pain, especially having been at this school for some time now. Something else was at hand here.

Strange.

When she went to retaliate, he hissed lightly as her scythe raked across his chest, but not too deeply. Regaining his footing, he shifted to the side and brought a knee up, aiming for her gut. He was prepared to moved out of the way quickly, watching her movements carefully as he attacked. He wanted to see what was going on here.

Dodge: Success - Freya has a -8 mod for the next attack.

"NO!"

Freya saw the knee a moment before it hit her, and she cried out right before the knee connected and bent her in half. She kept her stance, and her weapon in hand, but her other arm wrapped around her stomach again, as she lifted her head up to glare at Shun.

"Why yeh keeps hitting me there? Hah? Yeh thinks yehr helpings me? Why always THERE, SHUN?"

Her scythe whipped around her body and came crashing down across his neck. It was there, it was right there a moment ago, and then-

Shun was gone.

"GODS BE DAMNED, SHUN." She growled out, turning slightly when she realized he'd managed to dodge her blow so effectively, she didn't even see him move. Her voice was low, and predatory. "Stay still so I can smacks yeh."

One might have thought he had shadowstepped, but he hadn't in that case. Shun just applied what he learned from Noland. Freya had reacted rather badly to being struck in the stomach again. Perhaps she had an injury there. A soft spot.

"Torso and legs are the two largest targets of the body. However, the torso contains more critical areas. Damage there is more effective," he stated plainly, completely unaware that the Valkyrie may take that first part horrendously wrong.

"Negative," he said as far as him staying still so she could hit him. She was going to need to work harder than that. Watching her for a moment or so, he eyed her belly, but there were no signs he could see that she had been injured there prior to this spar. Keeping his distance for now, he flung one of his daggers at her to see what she would do now.

Two.. largest...

"ARE YEH CALLINGS ME FAT?!" Freya roared, rushing towards him as the dagger flew right past her side. There was no more real sparring coming from her anymore, just raw, animalistic hatred. She struck, and struck again, bringing her scythe down like a knife. Over and over she struck, blind to what she was doing or how it would affect the boil underneath her blade.

Shun was taken back by that roar. Fat? Where the hell did she even get that idea? The Reaper jumped back, managing to dodge the first hit, but she was attacking relentlessly. His timing was a little off for the next strike, allowing her scythe to clip into him. The one after that? Cut in deeply. Grunting, he rolled off to the side to get out of her rampaging charge, leaving behind splatters of blood in his wake.

"Where the hell did that even come from? You aren't fat. I have no reason to call you such," he hissed between his teeth.

Calling his dagger back so he had both blades in hand once again, he didn't stay to the side for long. He pressed forth, kicking out once to try and sweep her, then following up with a stab down towards the chest.

Freya took the stab as if she didn't feel it. She simply kept slamming down onto Shun with her scythe, unaware of what she was doing. There were tears in her eyes - and the sight of him began to blur. She couldn't see well enough to hit him with every strike, anymore.

But that did not stop her from trying.

A terrible cry ripped from her throat, as she finally brought the scythe down one last time, and left it wherever it landed, leaning her full weight on it.

She was attacking blindly. Shun was able to avoid taking another heavy hit, but her wild movements were also a little unpredictable in a way. Hissing lowly, he managed to shift off to the side as she lashed out one last time with a horrible cry.

Something was angering her. Now wasn't the time to ask.

Gritting his teeth from pain as he moved, he slashed out at her several times with his blades.
