This is a weird question, but anyway sometimes I get cysts behind my ears and they hurt really badly. Does anyone know how to get rid of them and prevent them? My mum says they run in the family, but there still could be a way to prevent them possibly.

Hmm.. well I wouldn't go on treating them on my own. Why consult a doctor about it?

True, I could. But in the chance of them just saying,"We can't do anything about it." and then sending me home but still paying for the cost of going to the doctors.

I've had them before and they were no big deal. It just takes a couple weeks to go away. I was just looking to see if anyone knew how to get rid of them quicker.

i have no idea, but i'd ask your family doctor about it before trying anything out yourself. just in case, you don't want to do anything that could end up hurting yourself or making it worse, or causing a whole other problem

I have recurring Ganglion cysts on both wrists, and my doctor said there isn't much you can really do about them. You can just let them go away on their won, or go to the doctor and have the fluid drained in a syringe, but it has a 50ish percent chance of swelling again. I doubt you need to do much about them, since they're just behind your ears. Mine left slight damage, as now there is occasional pressure when lifting stuff.

Not In Wonderland Thanks~ This was very helpful. No problem. They're more of a discomfort than anything, and they're actually pretty common.

confused I thought you had to have them surgically removed and that was it as long as all of the sac is taken out they don't come back. That's as far as I know, maybe what you mean is something else to what I mean :S
