 Erich finally escaped from his fathers consistent nagging. Days went by and only tension grew between the two, Erich had seen clan politics turn his father into a paranoid mess and had no interest in continuing in his footsteps. Leaning back against a tree his muscles relaxed enjoying the sounds of the night from the trickling Brooke slightly north to the slight rustle of the few creatures who desired to be out this time of night. Closing his eyes he took in the heightened smells and sounds, far in the distance he smelled a small rabbit, most likely finding food for her large family as rabbits will do. Luckily for her his hunger wasn't driving him tonight. Too many nights revolved around excitement whether it be hunting or fighting with his father. Tonight he just wanted some peace and quiet sitting by his tree with his thoughts to himself.

 In the tree, high above Erich's head, sat Maia, observing the male. In her patrols to watch out for RJ, she had come across the boy and his father often. They had always been arguing about something or other, something Maia was quite glad never to have had a problem with with Roxy. Ear flicking back to listen to her surroundings, she heard his breathing deepen. He was relaxing? Maia silently snarled.
Either she had been still and calm so long her scent had been masked by the forest or he wasn't able to pick out her scent from the many that surrounded him. Fingers flexing with the desire to pounce on him, Maia reluctantly decided to call out instead. "Had enough fun for today?" she called down snidely, crimson eyes watching. Beau flew around her, often clinging to her fur or hair.

Erichs breathing was slow and methodical as relaxation finally flowed over him after weeks of constant conflict with his father over his involvement or lack of involvement in the clan Gangrel. His senses slowed as his mind wandered off into his own thoughts to the point where he couldn't have noticed the other vampire in the tree above him even if he wanted to. To him the woods were as silent and as still as his mind was at that moment, in his mind nothing could conceivably go wrong.
Suddenly he was alerted to another creature stalking in the night by a strange female voice. In a split second his senses had snapped into focus, his ears perked up, his eyes opened instantly and his hair stood up on end. Looking up he saw the offender, a bat perched in the tree he was leaning against. "Who the hell are you" he said glaring up at her completely ignoring her question realizing it was irrelevant.

Avoiding a direct answer, Maia smirked and swung around so she was hanging by her legs and watching the male. "Someone who doesn't enjoy her nights constantly ruined by the arguing of a clanmate and his son," she snapped. Her body was loose, relaxed, almost carefree in posture. Underneath it all, Maia was prepared to fight or flee at the slightest provocation. Short dark hair swayed gently in the breeze as Maia hung from her legs.
"A better question would be who are you? Certainly not a clanmate, clanless then?" Maia sneered. "You don't belong with us." Anger evident in her eyes, Maia glared at the male though her voice sounded playful.

Erich's ears laid back in annoyance, this damn female had ruined the one night he had to himself and from the sound of it she knew exactly what she was doing and enjoyed it. "If you are just soooooooo off put by me and my fathers arguing why won't you take the peace as well? Seems rather stupid to harass me when you too get a break from it" he said irritation creeping into his voice.
He was even more annoyed at the mention of his status as a clanless vampire, he had no desire to be a clanmate to any kat. 'All clanned vampires are the same, always thinking that everybody is just dying to join their clan' he thought to himself before replying. "You obviously know who I am considering you made a reference to my father, and quite frankly I have no desire to join any clan" he said leaning back against the tree.

"I'd rather attack the source of the arguing than have to wait until it stops for some peace," Maia flicked out her claws, casually running her nails down the bark of the tree to help sharpen them. "My daughter gives no problems, and I'd hate to have her exposed to something like you." With a shark-like grin, she dropped from her high branch to one just above his head. Beau flew down, brushing the top of Erich's head and then flying back to cling to Maia.

"Well you are a little late considering its all done now, and quite frankly I don't give any semblance of a s**t about you or your daughter, so you can calm your collective tits" he said flicking his ears and tail with annoyance. His voice was tinged with irritation, ' what did this female intend to do? Intimidate him? Whatever' he thought to himself. He wasn't going to let this female intimidate him. He sized her up, she had clearly been in a few fights but he was ready for anything this female would dish out.

"Oh, you should be worried," Maia's voice dripped venom. Her fur bristled, crimson eyes glinting dark intentions. Quickly dropping down to land on top of him, Maia clipped his ear with her sharp claw, drawing blood before leaping back. "Stay away from my clan, and leave this forest, else you'll get worse than a scratch," she threatened. Claws out and body slightly crouched so if she had to attack again, it would be quick and easy to get past his guard.
