[1 v 1] Curiosity Killed the Cat [Ren vs Danny]

Yo little match ghoul! Meet me in the gym in fifteen - I need a sparring partner, and you owe me for hitting me in the face with your guitar during the battle of the bands. 8C

Danny bounced right over to the gym as soon as she got the text. She was feeling much better after a few days, body fully functioning once more. Nothing was TOO sore anymore, though things sometimes still got fuzzy when she moved too quickly.

She bounded through the gym doors, the metallic rectangles making a loud clang as they shut behind her. For a few seconds, she wasn't quite sure where her feathered friend was- the gym was crowded after all. Just the same, she found him over near the sparring area, his big wings and freckles making him stand out from the rest.

Without a moment to lose, Danny hopped over to where he was and threw her arms around the big oaf. "Kitty!" she exclaimed, letting go of the hug. "Sorry about your face ..." she said solemnly.

Danny looked around the gym, and then back at Ren. "So are we fighting now or ...?"

"Yes, yes, my poor face," said Ren, squeezing Danny in a hug before she let go and moved away. He put on a mock pout and then smiled, tilting his head to the side.

"Yes," he said and grinned. "We are."

Then he promptly kicked her in the shins.

Danny positively screeched as Ren's foot connected with her shin. Her hands went down to hold the wound and she whined, "Heyyyy! Not fair!"

A pout plastered her face and she dove to the ground, yanking Ren's tail and taking her with him. She clattered onto the ground, clinging to the lion's tail. "You cheater!" she shouted. "Cheater, cheater, cheater!" She gave a yank for each accusation she made.

Well he deserved it!

"Rude," gasped Ren, in mock outrage. "Really, pulling someone's tail? That's just plain mean."

He responded (very maturely) by promptly rolling over and squashing her.

To which Danny promptly wheezed out, "Ren ... squashing ... me ..."

She wiggled enough to get out from under the gargantuan mass that was a teenage-almost-adult gryphon, punching and scratching her entire way out. She got back a few feet, giving Ren a bit of breathing air, and letting her own FEAR take a break for a second.

"Okay pinning people isn't fair!" she whined. "You coulda smashed my wing!" Maybe she was just being a sore loser about getting pinned so easily.

No that couldn't be it.

"And your point is?" gasped Ren, flapping his wings furiously in an effort to propel himself away from Danny as one of her flying fists caught him in the side. He scrambled away and got back to his feet, smoothing down his shirt indignantly.

"And besides," he said, grinning.

"My wings are bigger than your wings."

Now that made Danny mad. It may have not been apparent to everyone, but Danny was actually incredibly sensitive about her smaller wings. She hated not being able to fly, even though she had these useless hunks of FEAR on her back.

Her fists were on fire in a matter of seconds and she was hurling herself towards Ren with every ounce of fury she had in her. "YOU TAKE THAT BACK," she shouted. Ren probably couldn't hear it over the sound of the crap getting beaten out of him.

"OW OW OW IT WAS JUST A JOKE YOUR WINGS ARE ADORABLE OK OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW - "

With a great flap of his wings, a gust of air burst from the powerful strikes, and the feathers began to swarm around him. He gave another flap, and the feathers soared towards Danny, whistling through the air.

"Honestly, I didn't mean it, okay, it was just - it was me teasing - "

Danny just glared up at Ren. Although the gryphon was trying to make amends, flapping his fancy wings around and flying above her was NOT helping his case whatsoever.

She stomped her foot and shot a fireball up at him, just barely singeing his tail. "GET DOWN HERE BIRDBUTT."

Danny's expression flipped off like a lightswitch as Ren admitted his defeat. Flames went out and she clapped. "Yay!"

She was going to wave this over him forever.

With the mood lightened, she waved him down and said, "C'mon down here so I can help you put them out or something. I kicked your butt so hard you need it."
