Why do bad things happened to good people? The Biblical answer is that there are no good people. In Mark 10:18, Jesus said that only God is good. And because God is good, He will see to it that justice is done on the day of judgment.

If He gives us justice right now, every one of us will end up in a terrible place, called "Hell;" and we would deserve it. God is the standard of righteousness and we all have fallen short of that standard. So there aren't any good people that bad things happen to.

The better question is this: Why do God allow good things to bad people? He demonstrated His own love for us; and while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

And despite our evil, wicked, and sinful nature, God still loves us. He loved us so much that He died and took the penalty of our sins upon Himself on that cross.

Often, things happen to us that we cannot understand. But instead of doubting God's goodness in the times of suffering, we should trust Him. We should echo the words of Job, "Though He slay me, yet I will trust Him" (Job 13:15). The book of Job shows that God is trust-worthy, even if we don't understand the suffering around us.

Why do bad things happened to good people? That happened only once, and He volunteered.
