He unbuckled his belted coat a moment to lift the underarmor shirt and show off the 8" scar on his abdomen. "Speared the hell out of me."

The fog was way worse than he ever had seen at the Haunted House. It also looked weird. They'd been given strict instructions to just patrol the outside and so that's what the three of them were doing. Jeremy and Bix had finally exchanged names.. always a good thing when someone mentions threesomes. Even if it was a joke.

"So then the next time I'm helping Candace with her mission and the b***h slices my braid off." He looked teary eyed. Really.

"Rest in peace.." he sighed.

Jeremy followed, listening to Bix go on and on about this two-coloured girl who destroyed him. He saw the scar and flinched, recalling the somewhat singed flesh he still had on his chest. This job was certainly a lot more worrysome than some flames, it seemed. While he listened he did look around, trying to see if the place looked familiar. It sounded familiar, but...the last time he was here, he remembered a meat locker somehow. And a door with twins?

"That's shitty, man. Hey did you keep it? You could've probably made a wig or something. You know, until the rest of it grows back." There was a slight pause, and he looked wide-eyed thoughtful. "Or...a whip, maybe."

"Sounds like she really hates you," Ariane laughed, not being very empathetic at all as she raised an eyebrow at the pretty impressive scar. The comment about his hair just caused her to snort as she dismissively waved a hand around, "That braid of yours was bound to get in your way someday, so she might have done you a favor."

She did pause at Jeremy's suggestions, "Hair whip sounds kind of disgusting, yet oddly cool at the same time." It also reminded her of a song.

It wasn't long before Ariane realized that there was something seriously wrong, like something was about to happen-

From the depths of the fog a creature emerged, taking shape, forming into a giant mantis, yellow eyes hinting at green staring down at the trio.

Invaders. Must protect home.

Home. Home. Home.

A low, wordless hiss emitted from the mantis' mouth as he moved in for the attac, claws flashing out so quickly they could not avoid the full blow.

Bix was about to wax poetic about how he possibly may have buried the braid in the hunter cemetery and mourned it for a week but the fog seemed to shift. A large mantis like creature emerged in front of them and as Bix summoned his bow to fire, everything suddenly felt like an out of body experience.

He took the mantis attack much more in stride than he normally would. "Weird..." he glanced to his companions before firing.

"WHAT THE ******** IS THAT?!" Jeremy cried out loudly, Elsie's chain quickly appearing in his hands. With a few heavy swings he gave the flaming anchor some momentum before kicking it out at the fog beast flame spikes and all.

On a normal day, Ariane would probably be yelling something obscene at the fact that there was a giant praying mantis-like creature attacking them. However, being in this line of work meant that few things actually surprised her anymore. Her reaction was probably closer to 'oh look a giant bug, like a monster straight out of that one movie based on a Stephen King book'.

As she swung Kintama at their attacker, she couldn't help feeling even less empathetic than usual; it was like she was having an out of the body experience... Or maybe she was dreaming. At that moment, nothing felt real - not even the feeling of her Fear shield being damaged by the insanity monster, or the feeling of her weapon hitting something.

"Dunno," She replied Jeremy, maybe a little too calmly as she shrugged, "Looks like a giant bug. Insanity bug?"

Yin hissed, not so much in pain as much as at the fact that these invaders were trying to stop him from protecting home.

"Home, HOME." He hissed and clacked at them, mandibles trying to adjust to the only word he could speak. Claws reaching out to try to pull the enemies to him, to crush them in his grip.

Bix felt like he was watching a movie, detached and fogged over.

"So dramatic.." He almost laughed despite another strong strike from the creature sending him backwards. "They always talk about home too..." There was a glance to his friends. "Wonder what that's about..."

They were all way too calm about this.

Bix fell back a few steps to unleash a powerful volley of arrows into the creature. "Easy peasy.." he shrugged lazily.

"Oh, yeah, right, Insanity bug, of course, what else could it be?" Jeremy prattled on as if he'd just been corrected on the 2% milk actually being 1%. "I dunno dude, if I was stuck in this place I'd want to do home too." Not that he was sympathizing with the crazy giant evil fog bug, but...well, he understood the need to go home. The bug grabbed him, putting him in too close of a range to properly use Elsie, but that didn't make himself entirely useless.

Pulling back on the chain and forcing the flaming ball back towards himself, he kicked it up again, letting the spikes crush into the belly of the beast, so to speak.

There was one last, rattled hiss and then Yin dissipated, swallowed back into the fog.

"And there it goes..." Ariane stared at where the insanity bug had been standing just a moment ago, one eyebrow raised; she was sort of expecting it to come back, so when it didn't, she grinned, putting her hands on her hip, "Well, that didn't take too long... And who knows? That insanity dragon on the island kept going on about home too."

She paused, and then chuckled, "Maybe it's because they're insane."

"Woooooo! Insaaaaanity!" Bix's bow disappeared as the fog ebbed away. The feeling of being detached seemed to ebb a bit. "Though Jeremy is lucky and missed being infected by that."

He turned to the blonde man with a head shake. "Yeah we had that crap too. That dragon thing was no joke though. Almost killed me and a newb."

Bix peered further into the fog but there was nothing else around. Perhaps they should just keep going.
