DISTORTED WORLD OF TRANCE: When We Were Young

Prompt: You wake up. The first thing you hear is the cries of battle: the sound of weapons clashing, the flash of armour, bloodstains everywhere, screams, everything feels sharp, painful. You quickly grab whatever you can find: a discarded shield, a sword. For some reason, you can't use your Fear or summon your weapon, you will have to do with what you get.

All players: You will need to navigate through the battlefield.
- All players may notice something odd: you look like a very specific kind of creature, dressed in archaic robes. Bits and pieces of you are covered in strangely glowing armour. ((OOC: You are a traditional monster from Greek mythology, it is up to you which kind ie: Gorgon, Harpy, Cerberos, Hydra, etcetc, just keep your form humanoid). Even if you are a Hunter you end up as a greek monster.
- A flash of noise, light, as a Human clad in simple armour suddenly runs towards you, weapon flashing to try and slice your throat. You move immediately, disarming them as much as you can. Around you, in front of you, more Humans: they greatly overwhelm what you are realizing to be your kind, the monsters. You need to get out of here immediately before you go down with everyone else.
- If you GET DIE you immediately are ejected from the Distorted Portal but even as you close your eyes, you continue to see and hear the battlefield. Your Fear is also at 50%/ Fear shield at 50% for the next 24 IC hours.
- It is recommended that players go through the shifts at the same pace (ie: I am player 1, in shift1, I roll 3 times and wait for the others before ICly proceeding to shift 2 together, though they can skip players that become inactive after 24 hours).
- If your HP hits 0 you are ejected from battle/ YOU ARE DEAD/ you wake up from the Trance.

gaia_crown Step 1: Shift 1

The humans around you are overwhelming: you need to dispatch them as fast as possible. Several attack your arms, legs, others are at your exposed back. Finding higher ground may also benefit you.

- Roll 1d10. You must do this three times.
- If in ANY of your dice rolls you roll 1: the last thing you see is the cry of a Human warrior as their blade flashes. YOU ARE DEAD.
- For each time you roll even you gain -20% of your total HP. You feel wearier...
- If you pass, proceed to STEP 2.

gaia_crown STEP 2: Shift 2

Most of the smaller humans have thinned out, but now there are ones riding horses. They try to surround you, their weapons threatening.

- Roll 1d6. You must do this three times.
- For each time you roll even you -20% of your total HP.
-If any of your dice rolls to a 1. You hear a loud whinny, the cry of a Human riding on a horse as they near you, you feel something ramming into your back, as their blade flashes. YOU ARE DEAD.
- If you manage to make it through, you are on Step 3.

gaia_crown Step 3: Shift 3. Just when you thought the path was clear, you notice a Human that looks a little different from everyone else. He is riding a winged stallion, a glowing blade in his hands. For a second, you are confused, he looks similar to one of you - why is he attacking with the Humans?

Roll 1d6. You need to fight this boss. He is extremely formidable, and fends off all your attacks and charges. He is almost impossible to attack.
- If you roll three evens, the strange Human ends you quickly. You dissipate and the last thing you see is their triumphant eyes... YOU ARE DEAD.
- If you manage to pass through this phase you are at the end.

gaia_crown Step 4: THE END.
- Someone is shouting, yelling at you. "The greater gods are coming!" As you look up, you suddenly see a figure in the sky - and then more of them as they take over the battlefield. For a second it feels like you are saved -

- When you hear more shouts from behind you, ones of terror from your kind. Someone screams - you hear the word Titans, and then the ground practically folds up from your feet, swallowing you whole.

- You WAKE UP FROM TRANCE

Eisheth could not explain what happened, even to herself if that was ever required. In fact, she got no clue: perhaps, the worlds collided, or the Hunters used some kind of trick again, or Medea grew angry and put them all in trance, or the insanity flooded the Halloween, or her poor restless mind was too tired and imagined the things. No... not the latter. A moment ago she was exiting the Reserve in order to find Mei, as she promised tot he ghoul earlier, and then she noticed a vivid flash of light, some familiar distorted patters that now alchemist did associate with the Home.... and she was sucked into.

Spending a bit of time listening to her body and Fear flowing inside, restoring her senses, the alchemist realized she was trapped in some kind of pocket dimension... hopefully, a pocket one. Eisheth didn't particularly liked the idea of getting nowhere with no chance to come back: she had a lot of things yet to do. She wished she had mote time to get back to her usual self, but actually it was all a matter of short seconds: she was woken up in the most rude manner: screams, familiar screams and sounds of the battle going around, a scent of Human, attractive and irritating filled her nostrils' Eisheth opened her eyes and jumped up, and made it in time. A human soldier dressed in some kind of simple plate, or a chain mail, was attacking her; it took one instant move to disable him. But he wasn't the only one: Eisheth was in the middle of the battle... and it was very different from the battles they used to have lately.

...and there was something else, something different about her: she could not get what was wrong with her body, but something was clearly wrong. Did she ever had wings before?... No, she didn't think so... It simply wasn't the way it should be, a familiar sensation, pretty similar to when she was turned into a minipet, but alas, she didn't have a time to take a closer look.

Looking around she found a small group of very strange creatures lying around: yet there was something really familiar about them....

There was a rumbling as he forced his way to waking, a deep, throaty noise that was not at all one that the Nergal usually identified with himself. Limbs shuddering as he attempted to pull himself up, Sharra opened his eyes to chaos. A certain unescapable fear and panic materialized within the boil as he took stock of their surroundings. There were others about him. Monsters. Familiar in the very composition of their alienness. "What happened!?" His voice slid upwards towards the end of the question, a thrum of terror running down his spine at the strange baritone voice that cascaded from his maw. A quick glance downward confirmed his concern, both hands being suddenly humanlike, huge and laced with muscle, legs bore fur and ended in hooves, giving the boil a significant amount of drive and power.

A good thing to, since he had to deal a quick blow to his oncoming attacker, sending the man reeling, and then Sharra watched as he fell heavily to the ground. Flinching away from the noise of it, he rather wondered if he had pre-existing injuries, since everything seemed to ache, thrumming with stress and exertion. There was some panicked pawing at his newly transformed head before he realized that it wasn't misshapen at all. Well. Not if one was a Minotaur, with giant horns, a septum piercing and the biggest pair of bovine ears he'd seen on anyone. Not fully a bull's head either, likely some sort of halfway state, like so many students sported, though the once-Nergal could definitely sense that he was far larger in this form.

"Well this is fantastic." A rather forlorn complaint as he glanced over to the only other standing member of their group. "Last thing I remember is an awkward crackling sound. What have you got?" There was a shrug of armored shoulders then, trying to heft himself to his feet. The last thing he wanted to be was on his back in the middle of a Jack-damned battlefield! He could have sworn, after all, that he'd been engaged in a battle not so terribly long ago...honestly, he was quite tired of conflict, the Grecian kind notwithstanding.

A snort left his nostrils, causing the boil to jolt. All right, well that was far more dramatic than when he had done such things previously. "Also beg pardon, but I am not USUALLY a minotaur!" There was a growl at that, further assessing his surroundings from a standing position. Whelp, best get those still living on their feet. Who knew just who and what this motley crew actually was 'neath these myth-flavored skins? Sharra certainly wasn't going to wager a guess on it.

All he knew was that they were being slaughtered.

It was clearly past time to get out of here. "Call the retreat?" Though to where, he hardly knew. Jack help them, what if they were stuck here?

Mmur made a faint sound of what might have been protest as he awoke, wiggling one of his wiry goat legs out from under the last remaining unconscious-but-living creature that lay nearby. He was quick to rise to these new, and he hoped temporary satyr's hooves, and once he had stomped about a bit on them, he finally gave the others around him more than a passing glance. He had already judged that they weren't immediate threats, but what were they then? Everyone else seemed quite threatening.

He was still a bit dazed, having been clotheslined by the mysterious portal he had subsequently fallen into as he was running across the horseman's compound, but his wits were returning quickly. It was hard to ignore a battle, especially when some human was swinging at you. He tried to summon his weapon, but nothing happened; instead, he grabbed a fallen comrade's axe and thrust it at his attacker.

"Retreat?" He grinned at the minotaur. "I will cover you if you wish to do so." It seemed their small group was on the same side, so he would protect this creature for now. Mmur was a soldier, the first line of defense, and he would do his job no matter where he found himself, even if he was shorter and blonder than usual.

Eira blinking awake to harsh sounds of battle, jumped up only to be caught off balance. Was this some sort of dream? Why couldn’t she float anymore? Oh dear Jack, why did she have chicken feet? Gray scaly bird feet now replaced what she use to have along with similar hands. She tired shaking them away, but they didn’t. Well whatever it was she hoped it wasn’t forever. Suddenly she felt the small twitch of something behind her. She had wings. They were beautiful, but why in the world did she have wings? She looked like some Greek siren monster of something. Looking around she was only reminded of the terrible battle that was happening around them. Ducking and scratching her way through the hordes of people, with her new talons, she found her way to a group of misfit monsters. One happened to mention that he wasn’t usually a minotaur.

There were others? What was happening here? Her brain racked with some many new questions. She watched as one picked up any axe and she followed suit. Eira found a sword, because how in the world else was she going to get out of here?

Shift 1

Quickly examining the situation Eisheth realized she's not entirely herself now. That was quite a familiar sensation: after experiencing Medea's trance and being a minipet during their adventures in the minipetdome, the alchemist sort of got used to changing her skin, just like a snake. This time, however, she was indeed something strange: she was a Harpy. Heck, she couldn't evan recall when was the last time she had seen a real Harpy: that was something from the days of her distant youth...

Eisheth jumped on a pile of dead bodies using it as a tiny fort, and prepared to defend herself at any cost. Good, she spent some time with Shikoba learning the War horsemen way of fighting: now that she had wings and claws it was handy.

However, she didn't have much time to think it over. She was in the middle of the battlefield apparently, and there were some fellow monsters around: there were no horsemen, but in given situation she didn't have much choice in determining her allies. A Minotaur, a Satyr... there was something familiar about them, perhaps, they'd have a chance to talk later.

A feeling of Ancient, of a distant pass, when the world was young and full of blood, was overwhelming. She breathed in, and cried: that was an old battle cry she had not used in eons.

Humans were everywhere around, and she lost the sense of time: fast and furious she was, her claws flying in every possible direction leaving blood and screams.

Come to think of it, monsters of old ages surely had some benefits: Eisheth found it very useful to be able to fly over humans attacking them from their open back, flying back to her improvised fort. Though, those humans were no match for Hunters either: armored, armed with the spears and blades, they would be no match for her in her normal form, but even her Harpy form was quite effective against them. They were ordinary troopers, if not mercenaries, their melee weapons match her speed, and her rage.

For the first time in months she was happy. She was enjoying this: what in the world could be better than killing humans, tearing their flesh with her claws, smelling the scent of their meat, tasting their blood?... Queen, she could do this for ages!

Eisheth took a second to take a look at her fellow monsters. "You're all right?", she shouted. "Stay close to me, don't let them surround you. They are easy prey, but there are lots of them, don't get caught up! Stick to me!"

She left her eyes on a Satyr fighting nearby a bit longer... his scent seemed familiar.. too familiar. Or was it something else? "Do I know you, Satyr?", she asked.

Shift 1, Roll 1

Borrowed axe still in hand, Mmur scurried forward as a human rushed at him from behind. He couldn't decide if this terrain was a hardship or a boon; his hooves were sticking terribly in the churned-up muck, but he was sure he couldn't have kept them from sliding had the surface been any smoother.

The horseman-satyr used the mud's grip to his advantage for a moment, planting his feet and swinging the axe hard into the neck of his attacker. It made the sort of satisfying squelch that his whip never could manage as he tore it free, and soon Mmur was off again, looking for more humans to fight. He did not know the purpose of this vision, this trance, but he would try to stay conscious in it for as long as he could.

Another and another and another. Somewhere along the way his axe had been lost, but Mmur continued killing, with claws and teeth to the throat, horns and hooves to the gut. He was covered in bright human blood, his lightless eyes brightening with mirth at every death. They kept coming, some even landing hits on his pale flesh. Hs blood was black. There was a lot less black coloring his skin than red.

He turned back to his companions, the other creatures, and lifted a relatively clean scrap of fabric off of the last man he had murdered, wiping at his face and hair as he rejoined the others.

He moved closer to the harpy as she had urged, sensing something familiar about her authority. It didn't chafe against his will; he wanted to follow. "You may," he replied, a curious expression on his face. "I am called Mmur. You feel like kin when I concentrate." To be fair, he felt a kinship with the other two creatures present as well or he would have likely challenged them, but his connection to the harpy felt strongest.

Mmur would have taken another step closer, but instead he froze as he felt a sharp bite sink into his upper back. He reached for the knife now lodged in his shoulder, tugged it free, and spun to stab the human that had wielded it. He stabbed the man a few more times for good measure. That had hurt.

Eira wasn’t one to use a weapon so this was all very new to her. She furrowed her brows as she got use to the weight of heavy blade. It was hard to do much with her wings, hopping around trying to avoid too much fighting. Staying near the other mythical beast she had found, but still not joining any conversation. She swung and took out a solder and then another. She was starting to feel wearier... But she had just started. The siren couldn't explain what was happening, but hoped that this wasn't forever.

Swing. Miss. Swing. Hit. This didn't seem to end. The former ghost looked around at her 'allies' as they were going through the same fight. She wished she could do something anything to help. This slice and dice game wasn't going to get them anywhere. Her sword clashed a few times with another sword. He was a lot stronger than her, but she managed to snake her sword under his armor.

She took a moment to shake her head... Eira felt even more tired. Had she ever felt tired in a dream before? What was this. She quickly raised her sword to meet another, but what was the use...Closing her eyes she pushed forward to stab the man in his throat. She didn't know what she was fighting for but she new she had to continue. "My name is Eira." She called out to the rest of their little group. "We are all on the same page of not knowing what is going on, right?" She questioned, but couldn't focus on them before another solder attacked.
