Any experience with stitches? (Do not read if squeamish)

I hope it's OK to put this here, but I recently had some stitches. 7 that had to be removed and three that were meant to dissolve on their own. After having the 7 wire ones removed, I noticed a thread-like little end sticking out of the wound. So I did a stupid thing.

I pulled it

It really, really hurt...but I keep pulling at it, hoping that it'll come out on its own. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, but I am afraid they'll cut it out of me.

Has anyone else had problems with stitches? If so, how did they fix it?

Do not pull it out. No matter what.

What I did was using razor lightly shaving the pointy end off so it wont be uncomfortable. a month later it fall off completely.
