So I have been wondering why is the letter W called double YOU when the bottom is pointed like the letter V and not curved like the letter U. Shouldn't it be called double V?

Because of the lowercase W, when written, it's more of a double u.
well, people used to write in really curvy, cursive-type handwriting all the time and when you write like that both capital and lowercase w's are curvy on the bottom like a u.
I can see that it is curvy in cursive writing, but regular writing it just seems the same only smaller, like the letter S or C

In my language (which is Swedish) we say it like it's double V. o w o;;
