Hey everyone!
I hope everyone is well.
Well now that the rain has finally passed I need some ideas.
So i have this old looking bookcase the owner of our house graciously gave it to me which I know he is puzzled by because I was sorta happy about it.
My mom was oppose to it because it looks old.
Although! Thats going to change maybe this week or next week whee
So I'll be paint brushing the bookcase.
The colors being black and red.
Although I am still puzzled now how I am going to do this mainly because I can't really decide how to color it. Here is picture of the Bookcase. Here is the picture of the Design I sorta plan to put inside one of the shelves in the bookcase

So I wanted to paint the outside of the bookcase black and the inner part red and the design black. Though I could also so the other way around do the outside red, inside black and the design red.

Whats your opinion on this? What would you suggest?
(and I mean the coloring part not the design)

please excuse my messy bookcase. I havent had the chance to clean until today maybe sweatdrop

best bet is to make a stencil out of the image to get it onto the bookshelf

I know, thats was the part that I would need to ask a favor from someone in my old high school.

But I was talking about the coloring.
Not the design.
I knew for the design it would have to be made into a stencil so yea

that helps your coloring, keeps things crisp and you can sponge it to minimize dripping.

color itself? red and black are pretty much fool proof when that simple.

could go with a magenta instead of red to match the room more

I know.

Well the color of the room isn't red or anything its this nasty looking purple but camera shows it differently. I wanted the bookcase to be completely different from the room not match the room. >.>

Oh thats so cool! I love these kinds of projects. My uncle actually gave me a similar looking bookcase about six months ago that I was going to paint up like a Tardis but now its so exploding with books I'm afraid I'd get crushed in an avalanche in I tried to remove them XD.

The only advice I can give you right now is black will probably look smoother on red for the design. The edges might blend better and easier whereas red might have kinda spikey edges that are more difficult to smooth out and you have to kinda squish to paint it in so I think if I was doing it I'd go with black design on red save myself some frustration. But I'm not one hundred percent. Have you considered a third color for the design?
