The centaur was an experienced swimmer and climber, so this was kind of like climbing upwards against a waterfall. At least she could see this way. With arrogance pushing her, she barreled onward toward the next check point.

This time she did laugh, loud and strong. It felt like the air was too tense, as if no one was having any fun. But Vita certainly was. All of a sudden, a participant went down, pushing and tugging her back to the last point she crossed. It was shy little Llameri, but she was doing really well. "Come on, Llameri! You can do it! Let's go everyone!", Vita shouted, encouraging and hoping to raise everyone's spirits a little.

Almost as soon as the words were out of her mouth, Vita's front left hoof slipped under the water a little. Though it didn't push her back, the icy river eagerly rose up to slap her with the cold truth that she also was suppose to be concentrating on the race and not just fun. Wiping her eyes, she trudged forward, goose-bumps evident over her skin.
