DISTORTED WORLD OF TRANCE: Another World Another Time

Prompt: You wake up. The first thing to notice is that anything you were holding, even if it was a hunter weapon or even just a rock, is gone and was replaced with a single, thin, stick-like object. Not only that, but your clothing is different and you FEEL a bit different. You also are now in a dark corridor made of stone and lit by torches.

All players: You will need to navigate through the tasks.
- All players may notice something odd: Suddenly all players look like humans. All different shapes and sizes of humans, but humans none the less. Normal for hunters but ODD for students/horsemen being as all their non-human like attributes are suddenly gone. You also notice that you are wearing different clothing. A simple black cloak with nothing on it, really. Under was simple as well. For girls, pleated skirts and simple shirts. Boys... pants and a shirt. Very dull, really. The only thing sticking out color wise was they were all suddenly wearing one of four different colored striped scarfs. Either red and gold, green and silver, blue and bronze, or yellow and black. If you don't get it yet, lets end this section with a famous quote. "Yer' a Wizard, 'Arry."
- Suddenly down one of the corridors you hear the sound of something approaching. Something FAST. You feel a fear within your gut, you do not want to be caught. There is no options, you have a single door in front of you or a dead end. For some reason the wand in your palm feels slightly warm to the touch now, as if it was almost trying to tell you something. Somehow the door opens, and you dart within.
- If you GET CAUGHT you immediately are ejected from the Distorted Portal but even as you close your eyes, you continue to feel the odd clothing and hear the feet approaching ever closer. Your Fear is also at 50%/ Fear shield at 50% for the next 24 IC hours.
- It is recommended that players go through the shifts at the same pace (ie: I am player 1, in shift1, I roll 3 times and wait for the others before ICly proceeding to shift 2 together, though they can skip players that become inactive after 24 hours).
- If your HP hits 0 you are ejected from battle/ YOU ARE DEAD/ you wake up from the Trance.

gaia_crown Step 1: Stage 1

As you enter the room, the door SNAPS behind the last person with a loud bang. At the noise you are immediately greeted with a low growling noise on the other side of the large room in the darkest part. Congrats, you have now pissed off a 20 foot tall three headed cerberus. The only way out seems to be a trap door in the floor behind the giant beast, being as the door that just closed on you will not open. It also seems your wands wont do anything, though you feel oddly attached to the object in your hand for some reason.

- Roll 1d10. You must do this three times.
- If in ANY of your dice rolls you roll 1: the last thing you see is a flash of fangs. YOU ARE DEAD.
- For each time you roll even you gain -20% of your total HP. You feel wearier...
- If you pass, proceed to STEP 2.

gaia_crown STEP 2: Stage 2

You seem to have managed to make it past the giant guard dog, maybe a little more ragged and clawed up... but at least your alive. This time though you are met with something even more strange, a giant chess board. Only the pieces look ALIVE for some reason on the board? As you approach, you find that the pawns look back at you for a moment before walking off the board. One pawn for each player present still. It is assumed you take their place.

The other color on the chess board wont let you pass... unless you win.

- Roll 1d6. You must do this three times.
- For each time you roll even you -20% of your total HP.
-If any of your dice rolls to a 1. You hear a rumbling noise as one of the enemy pieces comes right at you and destroys you somehow. YOU ARE DEAD.
- If you manage to make it through, you are on Step 3.

gaia_crown Step 3: Stage 3. Finally, after the chess game from hell, you have a FEELING that this final room might be the last one. Upon entering flames shoot up from both the door you just entered from, and the exit door on the other side of the small room. In the center of the room you see six vials, none that look the same. Some are tall while others short, some rounded while others square. They are different colors, and yet oddly they all smell the exact same.

The only clue in front is written on a piece of paper, it saying:

" Three will bring victory,
while three bring tragedy.
Which do you choose,
for the odds are equal in all views.
You may select only one,
choose correctly and you are done!
Select the wrong vial though,
and all your sorrows will end and only leave woe. "

Roll 1d6.
- If you roll even, You chose the wrong vial, something tragic and gruesome happens to your character from the poison within the container. YOU ARE DEAD.
- If you manage to pass through this phase you are at the end.

gaia_crown Step 4: THE END.
- You make it in to the final room, expecting it to be something leading outside perhaps?

- Only in your last few moments you hear a deep rasp voice mumbling some words, followed by a sudden green light flashing at everyone in the room. You have died.

- You WAKE UP FROM TRANCE

Madeline woke up in a daze. This was becoming an uncannily frequent situation, and did nothing to make her happy about the fact that her dilemma was quite plain - she had no idea where she was, how she'd gotten there, or why. The details in her head were fuzzy. She remembered something about a portal, but that was it, and when she looked down, she started at the fact that she was dressed like a wizard.

"Woah!" She waved her hand in front of her, letting the robes swish back and forth. She even took a long minute to examine her new wand before grinning. "Wow." Madeline reiterated. "And I thought I was a muggle for so long!" She instantly knew that this had to be some sort of sick, distorted dream, and it would turn gruesome just as quickly as Allan turned weabboo, but for now she was sure as hell going to enjoy it. She jumped to her feet and examined her tie (Gryffindor colors!) and grinned. That wasn't at all surprising, she supposed.

Her intrigue in her own appearance was cut drastically short by the sound of sharp footsteps down one of the dim lit corridors. <******** didn't know why, but for some reason she was desperate not to get caught yet. For all she knew, she was in <********>, and there was no way she was going to die or be ejected from this dream before exploring just a bit. Without a thought, she turned to the only door (huh, that should have definitely rung the bells of suspicion in her head), and pulled it open, leaping through it into the darkness beyond. She giggled to herself for a solid moment before something drifted up out of the darkness, a noise that wasn't hers.

And it was growling.

Oh ********>

While he couldn’t remember the last time he was forcibly sucked into a portal off the top off his head, TK was sure he would’ve realized the answer eventually. Of course, not like it would’ve done the skeleton boil much good when he felt a force tugging at his bones. He barely turned his head around before a bright light flooded his entire vision and he almost cursed under his breath. He closed his eyes.

When he opened them, he noticed the area was dim, but brighter than what he was used to. TK squinted at the large hallways then at the thin stick clasped in his hand. He brought it closer to his face so he could scrutinize the sanded and polished wood—

His hand.

TK nearly dropped the stick in favor of gaping at his humanoid hand. Rather, it looked completely human. No longer were the familiar outlines of bones, but pure flesh-colored skin. That…was not right. That was not how he was supposed to look like. Confusion swirled in his plain eyes as he stared at his hands and rolled up the sleeves of his robe—robe??—to examine the rest of his arms. They were the same. Something was awry, but he had yet to figure out exactly what. Before he could closely look at the blue and silver of his scarf, his ears picked up footsteps. His heart sunk. No, he didn’t want to meet anyone here just yet.

He looked both ways before rushing down one direction and heading toward what appeared to be the only open door. The boil grew startled when it loudly snapped shut behind him. “Was that supposed to happen?” he questioned warily before the presence of another person and a rather large creature stole his attention. TK tried to step toward the door while his gaze never left the dog’s. He barely paid attention to the other girl, though he could have sworn she was familiar.

“Lovely turn of events.”

Madeline squinted at her new partner in crime. For some reason he seemed familiar, but she quickly struck the idea out of her head - that was impossible. It had to be. Rolling her shoulders back, she tugged at the edge of her scarf and stared into the gloom, slowly letting her eyes adjust to the dark, even as the growling continued on above her.

"Welcome to hell, party of two, I guess." She muttered to him, tilting her head over at TK with a sly sort of grin. "I don't know, we're obviously not in Kansas anymore so don't ask me. We might - "

There was a sharp snapping noise above them, like teeth gnashing together in the darkness and wet droplets splattering the stone floor somewhere in front of their feet. "Want to do something about that three headed dog if we want to survive though." She inched away from him just slightly, trying to get a better view of the dark room in front of them and the beast that was most likely about to try and chop their heads off with its canines. She gave her wand a wave experimentally - and was completely displeased when she was met with nothing.

Grunting, she looked up again and spotted the only other exit in the room - the trapdoor. With a sharp jab to TK's side, she gestured to it before beginning her slow descent away from the shadows and towards the source of the growling and in turn the twenty-foot three headed dog.

There was, after all, a reason she was wearing Gryffindor colors.

The Oz reference went completely over TK’s head. He was, after all, not human. Human studies was a class at school, but it was by far not his favorite class. At least he liked all of his classes to some degree.

It was unusually difficult for the boil to peer through the darkness. Perhaps the glow of his eyes had been extinguished, much like how a spell must have turned his skin to an unusual peachy color. It took some time, but finally he could see a clearer picture of the large dog menacing baring its three sets of teeth at them. TK eyed the creature warily. “Yes, it seems so,” he agreed quietly.

He stared at Madeline confusedly when she waved the stick. Was it secretly a weapon? It looked absolutely useless to him, and his assumption proved correct when nothing noticeable happened. She probably wasn’t looking, but TK was unimpressed as he kept his lips sealed. He grunted and winced when she suddenly elbowed him in the side. “Yes?” He tried to keep his tone polite as one hand covered the jabbed spot. His gaze followed her gesture and he sighed as he immediately understood her intentions.

“Must we really?” he asked reluctantly while following the guard dog’s movements and stepped forward. Well, it wasn’t like he had much of a choice anyways.

Madeline shrugged her shoulders at TK when he didn't respond. Hey, she'd tried after all, right? "By the way, who exactly are you?" She whispered as the growling became more and more pronounced. It was harder than it looked, after all, to whisper while you were dealing with a three-headed dog standing somewhere above you in a room with no way out except for right beneath its feet.

Sliding her feet over the stone carefully, Madeline continued to inch her way further and further into the danger zone, like someone waiting for dynamite to explode beneath her feet. It wouldn't be a completely surprising event even if that did happen, considering where she was and how she'd gotten there. She tapped the wand against her thigh rhythmically, rolling her eyes at the thought of the stupid thing. What use was there in fate giving her one if she didn't even get to use magic? Complete bullshit was what it was. Definite bullshit.

"Yes, we must. Really." Madeline retorted, glancing back at the boy with a fierce stare. "Unless you want to be dog food. Fancy a dive down one of those things throats?" she rolled her eyes at him and turned back to her current task at hand - not getting caught. "It's not like we're a sack of bones after all," She muttered, more to herself than TK, without even realizing how ironic the statement was, "we aren't chew toys for that damned thing and I don't fancy myself getting turned into one."

Further and further into the shadows she went, her form swallowed by the looming figure of the creature above both of their heads.

“TK,” he answered curtly. His gaze flickered between the ghoul and the beast. “If you could be so kind as to tell me your name, despite the circumstances…” TK’s voice trailed off as he let the stranger make her way toward the door first. She seemed confident with her movements, but he paid little attention to that particular aspect. He devoted most of his time to the dog’s, trying to see what kind of gestures and patterns it favored, if there was any favoritism in its actions at all.

“Well, it certainly would not be the first time I became dog food,” he commented wryly and suspiciously narrowed his eyes at Madeline. Sack of bones. If only she knew, but alas. “Indeed. Unfortunately I am a chew toy for a different beast altogether.” Another wry statement muttered under his breath before he twisted his way out of the guard’s reach. His shoes echoed against the ground quietly as he weaved his way between its paws and narrowly bent out of the dog’s angry reach. This was hardly what he wanted to spent his time doing. If he was really stuck in this strange setting, he would’ve rather spent his time exploring the halls and other rooms, but alas.
