The exam room that the two students had been ushered into wasn't a typical classroom. In fact, it looked a little bare, with little more than one desk on the side, where their professor sat. She was writing things - furiously, in fact - but she gestured for them to enter and come closer, though there was nowhere to sit.

"Hello boils, how wonderful to see you here today!" She hushed out, as if trying to maintain a quiet voice in such an empty and bare room. "I am under the impression you are ready to proceed to your next year here at the Academy! It is my honor to help you move forward. Please, give me a moment to finish writing up your evaluations-"

Uh oh.

"-and then we'll begin!"

She went back to writing. There was nothing left to do.. but stand there until she was done judging you.

The faerie boil glanced around the room with a curious look as he realized that there were no chairs. In fact, Professor Selene had taken the only chair that was available.

Oh, she was doing... evaluations. Marosa frowned slightly, unsure of what to expect after his first year of being here. Especially after the first incident... with her. And his room.

Jack.

Marosa didn't say a word, as his eyes shifted away, an embarrassed blush crossing his face at the memory of their first meeting. Would it affect his grade? Would it keep her from advancing him? He really didn't know what she was like other than the sobbing mess and the theatre ramblings (Jurassic Park, really?), but he figured he was about to find out.

The faerie didn't say anything to Selene or AJ, merely watching as he stood, wings flittering every now and again with each moment that passed.

He was, at least, glad that AJ was here to take the exam with him, even if the boil had been a brief friend he didn't know well yet. He smiled as he thought of the pin that had been given, safe in his room. He shook his head, clearing his mind of all thoughts. Best to focus on the task at hand, he thought to himself. Stop letting your mind wander.

Being in Amityville for a while, it's time for the serpent-dragon to take his first exam. He was so excited that he whistled along the way to the meeting place. AJ believed that Selene and him have certain connection somehow, he smiled brightly at the examiner. "I am happy to see you too, Professor Selene."

AJ expected to take his "practical" exam like a field trip or so, but he never think of a room, empty and bare. What his exam would be like? Wait! Maybe he should say "their"?

Wearing a smile on his face, he walked leisurely towards the faerie boil he knew, gave him a neat pat on shoulder. Since the snake lady was concentrated on their evaluations, he turned to get closer to Marosa and whispered. "Heya buddy, nice to see you again, how're you recently?"

It was so happy to see Marosa again, AJ's grin grew bigger on his face. Head was happy to see the faerie boil after encountering with some bad bad creeple, it wanna snug on Vanilla for consolation so much.

Scratch, scratch, scratch. Selene's furious writing seemed undeterred by the boils chatting, because she was off in her own world, writing her notes and nodding her head in agreement with some silent comment she'd made to herself. It was a full fifteen minutes, before the professor actually stopped writing, and put her papers away. She settled them all very neatly in a folder, slid them to one side, and folded her hands in front of her. Then, and only then, did she look up at the two boils with a tiny smile.

"What a big day for you both." Her quiet, shaky voice whispered out. "I'm just so filled with excitement! To see you grow, right before my very eyes, under my tutelage, has been an honor. Now, let's see if I've done my job, shall we?" She pushed her chair back - it made a horrendous squeaking sound against the floor - and she ushered them off towards the middle of the room. There was nothing there but a small pedestal, and on the pedestal, a button.

"Your test is really quite simple! You'll be given a few attempts to scare a child. Oh, don't worry! There are no humans here! DETH believes in a human-free approach to practice! So, shall we begin?"

Her little hand reached down and pressed the giant red button as hard as she could. The room came to life, warning buzzers and yellow strobing lights filling the area, as two giant doors were carried by even larger cranes. They were planted firmly right in front of the two boils, and held there.

Both doors were plain, yellow, and made of wood. Above each of them there was a giant red light - but it was off. If they tried to check the doors, they'd find them locked.

"So! Do you remember everything you've learned so far at Amity? You're going to need it!"

Smiling at the small talk, the faerie gave a nod to AJ. "I've been good." He didn't want to get into the whole details of what had been going on, so 'good' sounded just about par to say. Marosa also made sure to wave to Head, which he grinned at, remembering the nickname it had given him. "How have you been?"

He glanced up as Selene spoke, wincing slightly as the chair made that horrible squeaking sound. The faerie resisted the urge to cover his ears, making his way to the middle of the room as he stared at the button.

Damn his faerie curiosity. Should he press it?

He didn't have a chance to -- Selene did.

Glancing up as two large cranes brought doors down, he stared at the two doors rather curiously. They were plain, yellow, and completely made of wood.

He knew better than to go up and open one of the doors. Marosa glanced to AJ, an eyebrow raised in curiosity. What would the amphisbaena do?

"Glad to hear that!" AJ won't ask for the details now, he knew the faerie boil had a not-want-to-mention past. If he didn't want to talk about it, he will respect him. If he doesn't mind at all, he can go to him after the exam. The serpent-dragon boil gave Marosa a light pat on his shoulder as a sign of liking. "Me? I am good! I have fun in classes and met some new funny friends." He smiled while recalling a grumpy demon kitty, a shy little witch and such. He tried to suppress his happiness and lower his voice so that he won't disturb Selene's work. He is a good student, Miss Selene.

AJ nodded as he agreed with most of what the snake lady said, he was so excited to start his exam and promote to year two. He grinned all the way when the Professor was expressing her feelings but his grin frozen and twitched as the dragged offensive squeak being created. Since the room was rather empty, the unpleasant noise echoed for a while and reflected to his ears. No. AJ didn't approve that, Miss Selene. The boil hated sharp sounds so much. Luckily, the torture was not a long one, otherwise, AJ didn't know what he might do.

Scare....a child?

AJ had thought of taking the exam in scarefari, or something like a field trip, but that was further than what he would think of. He was curious, very curious, Professor.

Good job, Selene. The Professor didn't stop to surprise him. He stared as the cranes planted two large wooden doors in front of them. The glance received from the puzzled faerie boil was met with a wink.

"Miss Selene." He raised one hand up like a student.

"Do you mean you are taking the exam behind this door?" The boil certainly needed more instructions, Professor.

"Why yes, AJ, you are!" Selene pulled a tiny little key out from her blouse, and held it out to them. "Now that you're both ready, we'll begin. I hope you both understand the rules, you only get three chances at this. We'll start off simple, first. You go inside, without triggering the 'child' waking up, and then you should go up to it, and scare it. Our instruments will measure just how scary you are. Use your best attributes! And remember, please, I do not think hurting a child is scary. So.." She gave them both a sweet smile. It was clear, if they wanted to pass a test run by an avid DETH associate, that they were going to have to be creative about their scare tactics.

"Good luck!" She whispered, sliding her tiny key into the box underneath the red button, and unlocking the doors. The red light above each door flickered on, and the doors themselves creaked open just a sliver, inviting them both to the dark world within.

EXAM PART 1
You are to use a method you feel you learned at Amityville to scare the 'child' in the bed. It will respond accordingly, depending on your attempt. See the next post for your personal rules!

AJ'S ROOM
AJ walks into a room covered in gaudy sports memorabilia. A giant stadium picture lines the walls obnoxiously. The floor is littered in dirty clothing and more sports equipment. It's a bit of a battleground to walk through stealthily.

FIRST POST:
Roll 1d100 to attempt to traverse the room without waking the child up.

1-10: You've stepped on a squeaky foam ball. The squeak makes the child pop out of bed, and all of the lights in the room come on. You have failed this step, you must leave the room to give the mechanics time to reset, and then try again.
11-20: You step on the edge of a bat, which slams up into your body. Ouch... Roll 1d4 - if you roll a 1, you have made too much noise and wake up the child. You have failed this step, you must leave the room to give the mechanics time to reset, and then try again. If you roll a 2, 3, or 4, you take your hit silently and continue, after recuperating.
21-30: You get so caught up looking through all of the human memorabilia, that when you look at the bed, the child is sitting up awake. You have failed this step, you must leave the room to give the mechanics time to reset, and then try again.
31-50: You are quiet like ninja. You get to the bed without incident. Continue to the next step.
51-60: You seem to have stepped on something.. sharp.. and it's.. lodged itself past your shoe into your boot.. Roll 1d4 - if you roll a 1, you have made too much noise and wake up the child. You have failed this step, you must leave the room to give the mechanics time to reset, and then try again. If you roll a 2, 3, or 4, you take the sharp item out silently and continue, after recuperating.
61:70: You are not the stealthiest of ninjas, but you do manage to get to the bed without waking up the child. Continue to the next step.
71-80: You use the shadows as your guide, sliding effortlessly through the room without any trouble. Continue to the next step.
81-99: You try to steal things from the room. You may continue to the next step, but keep in mind you must have stolen something, of your choice, to bring back when you leave.
100: You are the stealthiest, most feared shadow of all. You get +1 to your roll in the next step.

SECOND POST:

Actually scaring the child. This is your greatest challenge. This post must be detailed with exactly what you do, and how well it works. Minimum of 300 words, but post quality will be a factor that may add extra points in the end. Have fun with it!

Roll 1d100 - 50 and above is a successful scare. The lower your roll, the worse your attempt. RP accordingly and remember, you may get bonus points for quality RP! Treat this like a mini-solo!

MAROSA'S ROOM
Marosa seems to have walked into hell. The room, even in darkness, is still slathered in enough pink to make the strongest will break. The bed is actually a carriage, and Marosa has to try to walk up the steps to get to the actual child. Without her knowing it.

FIRST POST:
Roll 1d100 to attempt to traverse the room without waking the child up.

1-10: You've broken through one of the steps. The sound makes the child pop out of bed, and all of the lights in the room come on. You have failed this step, you must leave the room to give the mechanics time to reset, and then try again.
11-20: A cat is blocking your path into the carriage. Roll 1d4 - if you roll a 1, The cat attacks, leaving you with several scratches and a failed attempt. You have failed this step, you must leave the room to give the mechanics time to reset, and then try again. If you roll a 2, 3, or 4, you take your hit silently and continue, after recuperating.
21-30: You get so caught up looking through all of the horrific human decor, that when you look at the bed, the child is sitting up awake. You have failed this step, you must leave the room to give the mechanics time to reset, and then try again.
31-50: You are quiet like ninja. You get to the bed without incident. Continue to the next step.
51-60: You seem to have stepped on a tiny voodoo doll of a very thin human woman. It's horrific, and it has tiny little heeled shoes that have poked their way into your foot.. Roll 1d4 - if you roll a 1, you have made too much noise and wake up the child. You have failed this step, you must leave the room to give the mechanics time to reset, and then try again. Tilting his head at the room, Marosa gave a nod to AJ and moved to unlock the door, creeping into the designated room. He frowned as he stared at all of the pink things. He'd never really minded the color before, but after staring at it so long he began to grow a distaste for it.

There were pink walls, a pink carriage in the middle of the room, a pink castle against the wall, a pink table, pink chairs to match the table, a pink tinted goldfish bowl, pink rocks in the goldfish bowl, a pink television in the corner, a pink cell phone on the television, a pink stuffed unicorn sitting next to the television, a fuzzy pink rug under the television, a pink lamp that glowed pink, a pink bookshelf, and pink-bordered pictures of pink things hanging on the wall. The faerie was transfixed by them, and idly wondered just why someone had a mass of one color in one place.

Marosa had never seen so much pink when it didn't involve Desu-chan.

He didn't realize how much time he'd spent looking at all the pink things in the room until he glanced over to the bed again, jumping slightly as he saw the child sitting up and staring at him.

"Are you my faerie godmother?" The 'child' bounced up out of the bed and flew at him with her arms spread wide, a big grin alighting her face. Taking advantage of his stunned reaction, she danced around him in a wide circle, taking in his form, wings, and giggling as she danced about.

Finally getting control of himself, his wings fluttered as he backtracked out the door while avoided her grabby fingers as best he could. Shutting it behind him with a short burst of energy, his heart feeling like it was in his throat.

What the Jack was this about fairy godmothers? Marosa was nothing of the sort.

This time, Marosa was ready. He waited a few minutes until he had calmed down, reaching back and sliding gentle fingers over his deteriorating wings. Taking in another breath, the faerie opened the door and crept in, keeping his footsteps silent as he ignored all of the pink things in the room, instead focusing on the figure in the bed.

The faerie kept himself calm, taking a moment to close his eyes and then open them, letting his natural instinct take over. He was the hunter, and he had to pass this test.

Marosa stepped forward, passing the first step.

With each step he took, the faerie felt more and more calm. Reaching the final step and looming over the ‘child’ in the bed, Marosa felt his fingers curl instinctively, wings trembling with a slight excitement he hadn’t felt in a long time.

Reaching out with a careful finger, the faerie slid his corrosive touch across the ‘child’, instilling his FEAR into that simple touch. He thought of despair, unease, and horror, focusing them into his FEAR to make it so the ‘child’ would be afraid. He could feel the instant his FEAR began to take effect, reveling in the feel of finally being able to use it after being cooped up so long.

The ‘child’ was clinging against the pillow now, attempting to lean as far away from him as possible while still on the bed, not wanting to leave the comfort of it.

It didn’t seem to be enough. The faerie now pressed both of his hands together, closing his eyes and using his full FEAR now, letting his dislike for his father show through. It affected his FEAR a bit more, allowing him to channel it freely now. Marosa stepped closer, sending the ‘child’ shrieking and falling off of the bed with an audible thump, scrambling under it with muffled sobs.

The faerie lowered himself slowly, crouching to stare eye to eye with the ‘child’, reaching out slowly to try to snag its leg. He succeeded and yanked the ‘child’ out, watching as it dangled there helplessly, too scared to try to do anything against him. The faerie allowed a small, triumphant smile as he dropped the thing onto the bed, watching as it scurried under the covers and trembled there, making the whole bed shake. Often times he had wondered what his father’s FEAR ability was, as he had never seen it in action, nor had he ever been reduced to a state such as this thing was right now.

Should he be proud? Perhaps. His FEAR ability was his for a reason, and perhaps this was his ultimate goal: to collect FEAR from the humans in such a manner. To possibly make contracts with them, though they were rather confusing and made his head hurt with the technicalities that that particular class had taught. It was all about the wording, and it didn’t seem his style. He might have to figure that out later, but for now… he felt good about passing.

Satisfied with having done his job, Marosa walked out with an air of satisfaction, closing the door behind him and leaning against the door with a sigh. He was trembling. He could feel it. A little more practice, he felt, and he might be able to control the hunger after he used his FEAR ability, and maybe not even have to feed right away, or feel the need to touch people. It would take some time, and some practice.

He glanced up at Professor Selene and gave a small smile, pressing his trembling hands against the door. “How did AJ do?” He asked, glancing at the door with curiosity. AJ was his friend, and he sincerely hoped that he passed as well.

AJ didn't go into the door right after it was unlocked, he was staring between the wooden plain door and the giant red light....they were just too mismatched. The comfortable-to-see door was like the one of a home sweet home, however, the red light.....was usually seen at laboratories and before a dangerous place. He put one head under his chin, rolled his eyeballs quickly within his eyes left and right and repeated. After a while, probably quite a time after the faerie boil went into his door, the serpent-dragon boil finally found an answer: It was like part of the experiment, because it needs some devices to simulate how the human scareling's room is like and how the kid will react. Getting a fair answer, the boil shrugged and sauntered towards the door that remained.

There was nothing behind the door, but AJ felt himself walking along a corridor without light, there was only one dim light source from the front. It suggested that there was his destination. He strolled slowly while thinking of how a human kid's room would be like, he never get a chance to visit the human world before, because he missed the portal. Jacking! It was something bad to recall. He pouted and started to think of other thing else.

Then, he recalled he not only heard of the "DETH" for the first time, maybe that's another secret organization? Anyway, he decided to ask for more information about it after exam was over, human is always fun to know.

There he goes!

Before entering the room, AJ warned his Bro that not to make any noises in the game. "Hey Bro! Let's play a game~ If you can bear not to make any sounds when we are in this room, I will bring you to a big feast. Deal?" The head had its eyes sparkling when it heard of "feast", it nodded in a high frequency for that. "GOOD. AJ didn't want to fail in this, it would be bad if his friends knew that. SHAMMMMMMMMMMMME.

=============================
There was a round mass on a bed, moving up and down slowly and in a small steady movement. But AJ wasn't paying attention on that. The boil was gazing on the wall, with a stadium stuck on it. TOO FANCY. Is that really how a human kid's room would like? Or it's misconception of the party involved. How would someone dreams to sleep in a playground?! With dangers to be stepped like a carpet anytime? He disapproved. So much.

There was quite a culture shock.

He even forgot what he planned to do, he was just standing near the door. For a while. Oh yes! He needed to get closer to the bed. He made another face when he saw the floor. Jack! Even a slovenly student would not do that to their own room! AJ gave a light hit to his forehead. It was a bit too much for him, to get into a room like this with an unpleasant smell. He'd better finish his exam fast and left this awful place. He didn't even bother to take a good look at the human sports equipment which he would normally do.

He carefully strode over the clothing, as if they were some kind of unlikable objects you can imagine. No one probably seen him acting so weird, but it was a must now. AJ didn't want to think of what might on the clothing, it would just give him shiver one after another. He felt he entered a mine field and he would lose his life if he wasn't alert all the way.

Sneaky and frown up, the serpent-dragon boil arrived at the bed.

AJ didn't know whether he should be happy to have such good night vision or not, it's surely a plus when he fights in darkness, however, in situation like this, he rather preferred to have Nyctalopia. Sometimes able to see things was not a good option.

Glaring at the sleeping scareling with a very discontented expression, AJ was thinking something, something about how to torturescare the poor kid. The boil was a fast thinker, that meant he can take action while he is still thinking. The dissatisfied dragon lifted one of his legs and kicked the sides of the bed all in a sudden, probably the human boy was still having a good dream but he. didn't. care. "Wake up lazy pig." A voice cold as ice was heard. It must be one of the most horrible morning call in his life if he's real. The boil bounced up from his sleep and wondered why he felt the room was suddenly so cold. Then he saw that, two pair of glowing red eyes staring at him from above. For a human, midnight is too dark to make out anything, but glowing eyes? Surely he could clearly see that. The poor frightened boy wanna scream but he just opened his mouth without making any sound, as if he is a mute. He felt like a tiny mouse being stared by a snake. The only thing he could do was shivering at the appearance of the visitor despite the fact that he's almost the strongest amongst the boys in school, he didn't even noticed he was called a pig.

Good. The pig awoke.

Here to explain a bit, the human child didn't like flabby at all, if he had to be described as an animal, it would be an adorable baby Akita Inu. You can tell from his build that he loves sports and definitely didn't have any "spare tire" or extra meat on his bones. Unluckily, he met with AJ, a "monster" that has strict demand on taste. Looking from above, AJ gave cool eyes to the quivering "pig". His lips were pressed hard. A while later he decided to let go the little boy and opened his mouth while his arms were still crossed in front of his chest. "This room is SO unpleasant for a visitor, how do your parent teach you, huh?" The voice seemed to be amiable but also cold at the same time, stressing how awful his room was. The shoes that he chose to wear was the one with a bit of heels, so when AJ strolled from one side of his bed to another, the rattling synchronized with the heart poundings of the boy.

The dragon boil was recalling what he heard in Selene's natural form lesson, that's the only explanation why he even moved in such a bomb field. Indeed, if he can use his natural form, this task is just a piece of cake, he's sure that the human kid will scream for his mammy. But he couldn't do that in this exam, so he had to find another way. Selene had mentioned that size or look doesn't matter much, humans, can scare of a tiny harmless thing like a mouse. It's the associated thoughts coming from the fertile imagination of them that make them fear. That's why and where they all the Halloween creatures originated after all, right? So the dragon boil decided to make use of the associated fears instead. First, he gave the boy a shocking assault as the start, then, taking advantage of the dark environment and silence, the rattling echoed in the room and triggered the imagination of the boy of what the "visitor/ monster" would be. Glowing red eyes, cold but amiable voice, and nibbling sounds, AJ was kinda interested on how the boy would think of him. That thought made him feeling better.

"ATTENTION!" The serpent-dragon boil suddenly yelled. The direct prompt response from the kid was jumped off his bed and stood aside without even putting his slippers on, the floor was so cold but obviously he was shaking for another reason. "It's time for you to learn discipline." With good night vision, the Head would understand AJ's instruction of letting it to eat. It pulled the pyjamas of the boy when it took a taste of it. The boy struggled, from the unknown pulling force. "You are scared? Well - I am not happy with you, maybe I should eat you alive? That will be nice." AJ sounded so soft, sluggish but threatening. "Nononononoooooooooooooooo." The boy was so scared. The champing sounds growing louder at the back added to his misery. His legs were trembling, he was sweating like hell for the fear of being swallowed the next second. "O really? It will be a good thing for both of us." At least for him, he doesn't need to stay here longer. AJ addressed the head to get closer to the face of the boy without notice. The boy can feel the breathe and hear the panting right in front of him, he can't even risk to move, his heart was going to pump out of his body, he never imagine he would come across this one day. The gentle and leisure tone of the monster with all the spooky sounds confused him a lot, he started to question if he had a mental break down. He really wish all was just his illusions, he was going to wet his pants!

The approach that AJ took was rather successfully, what a kid at age like that feared of mostly? The answer is teacher. So he acted like a strict teacher scolding for the misbehaviour. The tone and his actions all can be easily linked to arouse the hidden fear of the teacher in the kid's mind, magnified his dread. "Well, if you can promise me you will wash your dirty clothes every day and keep your room tidy?"

The red glowing eyes stared at the kid were flickering, the kid thought he had no choice but nod. "Good. Oh well, it seems I have to go now, but remember I will be watching you, if I find you are not keeping your promise, I will come to eat you. Now, close your eyes tight and count from 1 to 100 before you open again. If you don't follow, I can assure you will only see a giant bloody mouth in front of you." The boy believed that he heard of giggling before the monster was gone, he closed his eyes tight and started to count with his trembling voice.

AJ walked out the room very casually, in his opinion, a long-lasting fear was much better than a short and temporary fear. He was not a ghost and he couldn't show his natural form. Although a threat of eating the boy was already enough to scare him, AJ didn't want just to pass this exam, but getting the best score he can achieve. So he say that he would be watching the boy all the time.

It seemed that they had a way to measure the fear, he wondered how much he could get and how Marosa did his. His mood was turned much better and he wore a smile on his face.

Selene sat daintly on a little stool in front of a tiny monitor, with a split screen. On each screen, she watched the testing in progress. Marosa's first encounter made her giggle, and she covered her mouth to try and hide the tiny sound, blushing red all over. But he went right back to work, and his second try went very well. His attempt to scare, however..

"Good job, Marosa, you were successful. However.. ah.. hm! How shall I put this.." She slithered her tail out, snapping it around his ankle and pulling Marosa up into the air, hanging upside down. Then she shook anything he had, out of his pockets. "I did mention that I don't like the children being touched, now!" She giggled out. Her sweet, soft voice did not match her .. 'hands-on' discipline techniques.

"Please try to work on better ways to scare a human.. without touching them. All right?" She let him down - gently - and gave him a you've been naughty look.

She turned back to the monitors, watching AJ's progress. He escaped detection easily, and his methods of scaring were...

Selene let out a long, soft sigh. It was unclear to Marosa, who was outside with her, what that could mean. But when AJ exited his exam, Selene's eyes were lit up and wide, looking at him much like an adoring fan.

"AJ, that was simply.. well I just have no words! Your methods were completely harmless to the child, but they created such levels of Fear - long lasting levels! And the fact that you managed to, somehow, teach the child a lesson in proper room cleaning etquette.. I just.. I.."

She wiped away a single tear.

"I don't know if I've ever been so proud in my life.."
