The Law Was Our Teacher

"But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:23 - 26

Before someone is born-again, he was under the law. If he is under the law, he will be judged by the law. But the law is our teacher to bring us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. What brings the sinner to Christ? The scripture is clear that the law brings us to Christ. The Law doesn't save us, but tells us who we are on the inside, a transgressor and have offended God.

Here is an example of how the Law works. When you wake up in the morning, you go to the mirror to see what the night has done to your face. You see dust and dirt on your face that was from turning and moving around in your bed. Do you wash your face with the mirror? No. Why would you? It is not designed for that. It is designed on show you how you look and points you to the sink to wash your face.

That is how the Law works. We cannot be saved by the Law. That is not what it is designed for. But it points us to Christ that we could be justified by faith. And when someone is justified by faith, we are no longer under the Law; therefore, we will not be judged by the Law and the curse of the Law have no more dominion over us. We are not under the Law anymore, but under Grace through faith.
