Despite his best efforts, despite pouring through the library and asking the horsemen, the most he could get about Insanity was that Distortion seemed to cancel it out somehow, that their crystals had a way of filtering the corrupted Fear into that unknown energy, and that somehow Red had found a way to circumvent it and gain control. And right now that was what he wanted most.
Mort loathed going into the portal, but he felt compelled to despite the inherent risks of exposing himself to more Insanity. But he could do this. He did not have to go Home as the whispers continually told him. He had a home at school, with his ghoulfriend and best friend and Student Council and his friends. This was not him dipping his toes to try a new life. It was simply observing the virus at work.
He had several fragments of Insanity. He wondered if he could get more.
