[EXAM] Good Deeds Definitely Go Unpunished! (Maple/Poke)

Maple and Poke were both awoken by the sound of a knocking. A gnome was at their door, dressed rather fancily, waiting to escort both ladies to Selene's classroom. She hadn't informed them that today was their exam day, but the exam had no special requirements other than their presence, so she figured an impromptu meeting would suffice. After all, she'd sent them such lovely male escorts!

..Short ones, but still lovely!

They waited at each ghoul's door with a bouquet of dead roses and a sour look that said they were definitely not there of their own will. They handed the roses over, held their hand out, and regally led each ghoul to Selene's classroom, where the teacher waited at her desk, smiling proudly.

There was slushing gurgle sound on the other side of Poke's door, a few heavy sounding thumps, and a strange crackle, before the door opened revealing the dragon ghoul, clearly just waking up. With a wide yawn she glanced around the hallway half asleep, almost shutting the door before she thought to look down.

And saw the gnome

...With a bouquet of roses.

She stood there for a long while, just trying to process the hows and whys. Why was there a gnome standing at her door with a bunch of roses. Was this a trick? The gnome clearly looked annoyed at being here.

Slowly, she took the roses (trying to look for a hidden bomb), then blinked as the gnome held out his hand.

...He couldn't be serious.

With a sigh, she took the hand, and having to lean slightly so he could hold on, let the gnome lead to wherever it was he intended to take her. Which ended up being professor Selenes office.

Thank jack it wasn't some 'romantic movie'. She may of just punted the gnome right there and then.

"Good morning professor." She said politely, wondering what Selene wanted her for.

There was a gnome at her door.

Maple blinked a few times, still in her sleepy haze with her disheveled hair and attire, with her hands clinging to the door just in case she fell flat on her face while she continued to process what she was looking at. Her face fell though. Gnomes weren't at the top of her list, having given her not so fond memories the past few weeks at school. Especially those at the exams, ruining her exam and just being rude. Like this one, knocking loudly at her door and waking her up.

Surprisingly she hadn't shut the door on him, until she noticed the roses in his hands (and he was dressed nicely), prompting a small squeak, reddened cheeks and her hands finally going into the slamming motion with the door.

What.. in the.. what...

But his foot seemed to stop the whole process, propping the door open still and thrusting the roses into her hands. One hand still remained out to her as she stared at the roses in dread. He seemed to want her to take it, unhappily as he was and the ghoul found herself placing hers in his. And filling with more dread. Oh Hecate, where was he going to take her? It was too early for this. "I'm n-not.. p-properly d-dressed," she realized being simply in a cotton nightgown, an overcoat and slip-on shoes.

He didn't seem to care though as he lead her towards the classrooms and one in particular where a very pleased teacher awaited her. Maple blinked owlishly for a moment, glancing at the other ghoul present in a similar state as she before turning her full attention at Miss Selene.

"G-good... m-morning...?" The witch offered in greeting, confused. And worried.

The gnome led Poke all the way up to a desk, where he then let her go and scurried back to stand beside Selene's desk. She thanked him with a smile and a soft word, then turned to look up at the student. "And a good morning to you! Lovely to see you here so bright and early! I hope my escort was adequate, I wanted to make sure you and your fellow student had a pleasant experience heading to your exam - oh my no!"

Maple had just walked in, and Selene's hands flew to her mouth, covering her lips with trembling fingers. "M-M-Maple, you're not dressed! Oh dear, oh this just won't do, oh come here my dove!" She scrambled over to the ghoul, and took off her own overcoat, wrapping it around the ghoul. "We wouldn't want you walking around the school dressed in nothing but your nightgown, would we? How dreadful!"

Selene turned to the gnome beside her, and gave him a shameful glare. She shook her finger at it. "Now Leeroy, what were you thinking bringing her here before she was dressed! You impatient little creature! I am disappointed in you.

Leeroy went from looking disgruntled, to looking like he was going to cry. He scurried off to stand on the other side of her desk, filled with shame.

"Well, that aside," Selene's expression returned to gentle content. "Welcome to your exam, ladies! I have a fun little project in store for us. Will you both follow me outside, please?"

She headed out the door, and the gnomes at her desk ran to follow. The first one scuttled by her, but before Leeroy could make it, she swiveled around; and her black eyes sparkled with venomous intent.

"Not, you, Leeroy. You go back in the box."

Leeroy turned around, and went back inside Selene's office.

"Y-yeah, the escort was very adequate, thankyou." Poke replied, eying the gnome as it returned to Selene's side. But then the magical word 'exam', was uttered, and the dragon looked just a little bit more 'enthusiastic', about the whole thing.

"E-exam? Sweet sally I can't believe it!" She exclaimed, before a large toothed grin overtook her. So she was here, just about to take the test that would determine if she was ready to be a hob. A jacking hob! Just like Shun and Frost. If she could do this then she would enjoy paying those two back from the fights she had lost. And the hunters! She would be more of a match against them, maybe even take a few down (not that she really hated them or anything. She just hated the fact everytime she so much as uttered the words, 'fight', she was on the floor in a matter on minutes)

When Maple entered the room, she gave her the thumbs up, before looking back excitedly as the professor welcome them, and when instructed, followed her eagerly with visions of being on equal footing with the professors in her head. The dragon ghoul really had a one track mind

Poke received a weary sort of smile from Maple, unable to offer much else like a greeting as she found herself ambushed by Miss Selene and an overcoat. The witch stood there, a little dumbfounded as the professor did as she pleased, covering up her simple nightgown and making her look a little more presentable; at least she still had sensible shoes on. She should probably fix her hair a bit.

"I d-didn't know.. w-we had.. t-time to ch-change..." she replied in a quiet tone, feeling more awful (and actually a little bad for the gnome, getting scolded because of her and her lack of foresight of getting dressed properly. Really, she should have known). "Th-thank y-you," a blush appeared, sheepish in manner. "I'm s-sorry..." It was tempting to go join Leeroy in that corner of shame.

That all changed though, when Maple felt the color from her face drain. Exam? The other ghoul seemed elated at the news, the witch herself felt more worry creep up. She wasn't prepared at all! She didn't know what she was doing (that corner was looking more tempting!). This was so unexpected, well okay she should have but not right now. "Okay..." came a wisp of a reply, all she could muster as her body moved on automatic to follow Miss Selene out of the classroom (and to her doom).

"Oh no no no, I simply will not allow you taking any blame. This was his fault, he should have known better. Tut tut! But let us push these negative thoughts out of our minds. We have great things to accomplish!" Selene's tiny, quiet voice seemed to trill with happiness. "Great things."

They reached the Wishing Well, where the first part of their exam would take place. She stopped them and turned around, waving her hands in the air. "This is the Wishing Well, in case you have not been here before! It's a wonderful little place where people can throw in a silver pumpkin seed and make a wish. There's magic in the air! Can you feel it?"

She handed each of them a silver pumpkin seed. "Go on, make a wish! I will too." Her hands held the seed clutched preciously, and she closed her eyes as she wished super extra hard. When she opened them again, she looked flushed, ducking her head in embarrassment at the absurdity of her own wish. Regardless, with a delicate movement that included a leg pop customary of a first kiss, she flung the seed into the well.

"Aha! Yes! Wonderful. Now, after you've made your wishes, please attach yourselves to these safety devices here.." She handed them both spelunking gear.

"And we will do a bit of social service! Simply remove anything counterfeit from the well. Fake seeds, bottlecaps, anything that shouldn't be in there! Good luck!"

She was sending them down the well. Down into the watery depths of the wishing well. To clean.

And she seemed so happy about it, too.

EXAM PART 1

You're doing some community service! For your exam..? Regardless, your task is to pick out as many counterfeit items as you can. You each must make 5 attempts, as long as you don't fail - a 1 is a failure, and it will make you have to start all over. You'll see why!

4. You found a - is that a bug?! It flies away as soon as you try to touch it. (0 points!)
5. You found a counterfeit silver pumpkin seed. Scratching the silver causes the painted color to come off. (2 points!)
6. You found a little bag.. you open it up.. is that.. a diamond engagement ring..?! (2 points!)

Poke wasn't paying much attention to poor maple and her lack of subtitle clothes for the exam. As usual, the dragon ghoul was really only thinking of the task at hand and what she expected it to be.

Which ended up being something as mundane as making wishes in a well.

Staring dumb founded at the wishing well, she tried very, very hard not to stare at Selene as the professor made her wish. Just like a school ghoul would. Was this really what she had to do? Meh, oh well, a exam was a exam was a exam.

With a shrug, Poke stepped up to the wishing well herself, flipping a silver seed into the dark abyss below while mentally saying her wish (to be powerful, of course) Okay, wish done, maybe they would get to do something more exiting now?

the ghoul then realized that she needed to stop getting worked up over these exams, as she was handed some diving equipment and told to shimmy down the well to fetch all the fake items. It was all most like her 2nd year exam. Except more wet.

Sighing, Poke changed into the gear, grabbed the end of the rope, and hoped onto the edge of the well. Oh well, at least it would be eas-

And thus the dragon was sent tumbling into the waters below, causing a large splash as she here. There was then much splashing, cursing, and some angry growling sounds to boot.

As soon as a new cable was thrown down, Poke pulled herself up to hand on the wall, one claws hand gripping onto the stones while the other searched around. Her keen eyes spotted something not quite right; a fake silver pumpkin seed, with the paint already peeling off due to the water.

"...Who the jack goes to the trouble of making a fake seed just to make a wish?!" she exclaimed. Seriously, whoever did this was a cheap b*****d.

No sooner had she leaned over to look for more goods, her second cable gave a ominous twang and sent her falling back into the water below, losing what she had found.

She took a moment to look at the cable and wondered if it was made of string or something.

Waiting for the third cable to be sent over, Poke grabbed onto the cable, gave it a good yank to pull herself up, and watched as she literally pulled it down and pushing her back into the water.

"Jacking hell, I could do this better without the cable." she grumbled under her breath as she floated there, trying very, very hard not to get mad at Selene. Not only could she fail her exam, but she'd probably make the professor cry.

tugging on the cable cautiously to test it's strength, she hoisted herself onto the wall, beginning her search anew for faulty items. It didn't take her long to find the fake seed she had dropped.

"Aha!" she grabbed the item, and looked around for some more.

Poke was amazed to find another counterfeit pumpkin seed sloshing around in the water. Eying it dubiously, she picked it up while wondering just why anyone would be stupid enough to do so. Did they really think the magical entity behind this well (or whatever spell it was under), would be fooled by some paint? Really??

Looking around in the gloom, her slitted eyes quickly found another shiny item that didn't seem right, but as she reached out to grab it, the item became alive and scuttled away. It must of been some sort of beetle or something.

She shrugged it off easily. Bugs were of no concern to her.

"Seriously, who is the moron who's making these fake seeds." Poke exclaimed after finding a third one, adding it to her small collection. It would of been interesting to see this person try to pass these seeds off at a bank, or even better, a dragon. They'd be sleeping with the fishes in a matter of moments. Or maybe stomped on, or burned with acid. It all depended on the dragon.
