The Trans-Dimensional Colosseum

Excited yells and cheers fill the air above the stands in a perpetual roar as the hundreds of torches lining the walls both below in the arena, the railing facing the lowest seats in the bottommost row, and the very tops of the massive circular structure burst into flames as soon as the sun nears the horizon. Calls for blood and refreshments rise above the chatter as the volume's ebb and flow rises like a wave. At the moment, there is no one in the stage below the spectators, but all of them know that it won't be long before their thirst for blood and slaughter is appeased. As the charismatic announcer begins to speak over the deafening noise, it only increases. Thankfully, the magical projection is still able to be clearly heard over the exultation, and his strange rushed accent thrives on their anticipation:

'Welcome, welcome, ladies an' gents from everywhere an' anywhere! As always, we thank ya for yore choice in entertainment this wondahful evenin', particularly for choosin' this fine establishment! The Gladiatorial Committee also extends it's appreciation for yore continued patronage. I'm bein' honest here, folks, we wouldn't even exist on Helias'Rion without ya!

"That said, we have some visitors from the Committee itself in the stands today. These distinguished gentleman are from off-world, so let's show 'em how the Trans-Dim got it's motto: 'Ye ain't livin' 'til yer dyin'!'

For all o' ya newcomers an' first-timers to the Colosseum, the Committee is responsible for over a hundred such arenas on Hey-LEE-ahs'Ree-ahn alone an' even more of 'em on all sorts o' worlds an' planes--the Trans-Dim bein' the most famous, o' course! It's made up o' all the proprietors who either directly own their arenas, jointly own 'em, co-own 'em, or just have their own gladiators o' slaves competin' in the fights. But before I start ta ramble even more--my ma always told me that if my feet weren't runnin' then it was my tongue!--let's get ta the main event!"

Over the years, we here at the Colosseum 'ave seen all manner of challenges an' events come an' go. This one just begs to be on the top o' my personal list of favorites, let me tell ya now. Not only are we gonna pit a handful of gladiators who 'ave to fight their way up through their own challenges--solo fights, team battles, puzzles, etcetera, etcetera--, but we're gonna throw the ones that survive into a volahtile mix an' hurl 'em against the meanest creature in our repertoire to date. What that is, well folks, I couldn't tell ya 'cause I haven't been told! Somethin' about me runnin' mah mouth, can ya believe it?"

Whatever it is, our ever illustrious Champion o' the Arena has deigned this event to be worth 'is time an' so he'll be participatin'. Yore in for a real treat this time around, everyone, 'cause once he steps into the ring, it's gonna get bloody! Once again, welcome, WELCOME TO THE TRANS-DIMENSIONAL COL-OH-SEE-UHM!"

Rules

No god-modding, no puppeteer-ing unless permission is given otherwise or it's an NPC you created for a few posts to help with the plot, excessive swearing is fine by me as long as everyone else if okay with it (including specific words), should romance occur it should only to be taken to light's out, have fun, and if you're going to be absent for a while then please say something in advance.

I didn't include killing someone else's character because you should at least have permission to do so first or if you both have been planning it. Be prepared to have a character die if something happens. Maybe it's to advance the plot or you got bored, but this is a gladiatorial RP and you can't keep dodging forever.

Information concerning the Colosseum itself:

In order to keep up to Helias'Rion's bizzare blend of technology and magic, the Colosseum has adopted a few of the strange innovations to help maintain its reputation and the upkeep of the various fighters, gladiator-slaves, and monsters. The fact that it was designed by a minotaur and built by dwarven ingenuity adds to its ever-growing legend.
(Edit 1: Feel free to read what I have. I'll be adding more to this.
Edit 2: I feel like I've gone overboard with it a bit... ^^")
Outside:
The outside appearance of the Trans-Dimensional Colosseum has been modeled on another famous colosseum from off-world. The circular sandstone building is enormous, taking up much of the space in just a fraction of the nearly continent-spanning bazaar. Torches line the rough walls and light up shortly after the sun reaches the horizon, their flickering adding to the gladiatorial feel of the place. Statues of wyverns is various poses standing guard like gargoyles are prominent by every entrance inside and outside of the Colosseum and carved into pillars. Almost all of the outward facing open arches have been closed up with stone with a few exceptions: six wide arches at ground level that are used as the main entrances at what is considered as the "front" of the Colosseum, six more in the "back" of the structure that are far more heavily guarded for the exchange of goods and supplies among other things, and the arches that cover the very top of the Colosseum. These cannot be reached easily except from the inside of the structure and are purely for decorational purposes. One would be able to stand or sit atop them if they were able to get up there.

A magical dual-enchantment near the six back entrances of the Colosseum allows onlookers to only see or hear what the guards and the superiors of the Committee want them to see, thus hiding any and all surprises for future matches. If they want the bazaar shoppers to see only the guards going about their duty, then that's what they'll see. If any try to approach the back arches, their vision will go darker the closer they get, and they'll hear or feel the guards escorting them back out of the limits of the enchantment. A few too curious shoppers have been known to go missing.

Inside:
Starting from the ground level (designated as GF for Ground Floor), spectators find themselves in a spacious and well-lit lobby. Across from them are multiple ticket windows that are used for buying tickets to watch matches or to place bets. Seat position and amount of matches to be watched by the payer are determined by how much currency they dish out, or by their own reputation (nobles or otherwise). The smallest amount paid allows a seat on the higher stand rows and less matches to be witness to. The more you pay, the closer you get to the bottom and closer to the carnage. Of course, special guests of the Colosseum are allowed to sit anywhere they want, including the privileged VIP section situated in the middle of the stands that has the best view.

A spectator, after deciding what they're doing with their cash, then takes one of the staircases at the edges of the lobby up to their specified row and can choose any spot on their specified bench. Vendors wander up and down the columns selling food and novelties, some of which are able to protect against artificially created rain or other effects that are used against the gladiators down below. The most used arena for the battles featured is at ground level and open air. Torches line the walls of the fighting pit below, the tops of the stands, and the bottom railing just before the battle area. The ground, more often than not, is hard dirt and a coating of loose dust.

Below the top level are 5 others (BF1-5, Belowground Floor 1-5) that descend into the earth and are similarly alterable like the showcase arena. More stands line the walls down here, and the lighting and temperature are more prone to change because of the closed environment. The lighting itself is different on 3 of the lower levels, making use of off-world technology, but the first two belowground levels use torches just as the top level.

Extending around the arena stages and below the stands are halls, staircases, ladders, and rooms with various purposes. Staff quarters are located on the west side of the Colosseum's underground, old and new gladiator quarters/rooms/pens/and cages are on the east side, community rooms such as mess halls, training grounds, and relaxation areas if one doesn't wish to stay in their quarters and has the appropriate privilege level (This only applies for certain areas and/or if a gladiator is a slave. Their master must give permission at that point.) are located on the south side directly beneath the above entrance lobby, and the monster holding area is situated beneath the back of the Colosseum on the north side.

Technology and Magic:

Magic is a large part of the Colosseum, from the enchantments on the back exits to the automatic lighting of the torches. It makes much of the appeal and mystery of the building possible, including the almost pocket-like dimension quality of the rooms that tunnel beneath the structure. Surely all of those spacious rooms could not fit in the space between the outer walls of the Colosseum and be packed against the lower 5 arenas without magic, but with it, it is more than possible. Lighting concerning the underground hallways is achieved with crystals with enchantments of soft radiance floating a few inches below the ceiling. The hearths in the three large mess halls house heatless fires rather than actual ones to prevent a stifling atmosphere. Most of the dishes and cutlery in the kitchens are washed with magic rather than by hand (it would take a long time to unbend utensils or to scrub all of the gunk off) so that the staff can attend to other cleaning duties. When arenas must be altered on a large scale (flooding it with water or creating an icy wonderland), wizards, mages, and sorcerers make it happen. Almost anything that needs to be down is made possible with magic.

But not only is magic used on the Colosseum's varying levels, off-world technology has also been implemented. Running water for refreshment or to bring waste and other things to the sewers, cooling and heating through airvents located throughout the stands and most rooms of the underground levels, and drainage pipes to remove the large bodies of water that are conjured are just a few of the uses. The kitchens are doubly efficient with the use of off-world technology ovens and grills, and cleaning has never been easier. Many of the guards that would normally be useless in the subduing or controlling of various beasts or gladiators are fitted with appropriate gear to balance the power out when face with magic-less or magic neutralizing individuals.

There is a large rift between the two very strange concepts. Despite the ability to make the relationship work in tandem, the possibility of them clashing unfairly has been carefully appraised. Much of the Colosseum's magic is used to equalize the battlefield between sharply contrasting gladiators and/or monsters. There have been cases where one fighter has been completely obliterated by another wielding off-world technology, or vice versa with magic. In order to balance these particular fights, an enchantment is cast both on the battlefield and the gladiators/monsters participating.

Off-world technology itself has its properties altered so that any projectile-like weapons fly or shot out at a speed that is only as fast as the fastest bow/archer appraised by the Committee to date. Of course, some gladiator archers have been able to best the current speed measured, but the standard holds, as that is simply their personal prowess. The fighters themselves are given increased resistance to technology that would outright kill, maim, or otherwise grievously wound them. The resistance will wear down over time, but only as much as their current armor level would in a melee or magic battle and depending on where they are hit.

Fighters that implement off-world technology or go up against magic and are at a severe disadvantage are equally resistant to magic cast at or on them as are the fighters they are up against. It is properly scaled to what would be appropriate in terms of damage and speed depending on what they would encounter naturally.

Individual armor defenses are not affected by the enchantments, an example being that a cloth wearing fighter would be less durable than that of a plate wearing fighter, and weapons would slice into them no matter the enchantments ruling the battlefield. In a case that two gladiators wielding little(insignificant)-to-no off-world technology are up against each other, the battlefield enchantments will be rendered null and the way the fight leans will rest purely on their capabilities. The magic affecting two off-world technology users fighting each other will still be in place, however. A monster being attacked by off-world technology will also be affected by the battlefield enchantments unless they have their own natural defenses that combat it and/or magic. In that case, determination will win out.

Allowances:

Gladiators have almost full reign of the areas they are allowed in, as do slaves (but again, this depends on their master's wishes).
For a basic gladiator, these rules apply: They are allowed to watch any current fights that they wish unless told otherwise. No fees apply, and they can sit anywhere they wish, although most stick to the gladiator-specific section. They are able to access the majority of the wings/sides of the Colosseum. Half of the staff quarters are available for them to visit and the north side is strictly and expressly forbidden. An invisible, physical resistance barrier is in place to the half of the staff quarters and other such places that they cannot access,
They are allowed to leave the Colosseum to visit the Bazaar, but are expected back within the specified 3 day time limit if they are part of a certain event or battle sequence. Almost anything they ask for in the Colosseum will be given to them, and most of the Bazaar's wares are available and free. The Colosseum will pay them for any purchases. Gladiator slaves and the like are not allowed out of the Colosseum under any circumstances. If they request something, it must be processed through their current reputation level and their master.
The Champion is allowed pretty much anywhere in or on the Colosseum excepting some of the north side's monster holding areas, is allowed to leave whenever they feel like it (including off-world dimension, planes, etc.) able to request almost anything they want (including altering some of the Colosseum itself), and can influence certain events or privileges of other gladiators. Standing reputation must be upheld, so not even the title itself guards against required fights.

[Possibly a roster or progression system of some sort, I haven't figured it out yet.]

Starting Post

(This is where you can start if you wish. If you want to start somewhere else, then go ahead!)

The loudness of the announcer's voice is able to penetrate where the gladiators, old and new, enslaved and voluntary, crowd. The Colosseum's battle roster has been nearly expended for the day, the night events and fights apply to other gladiators than these, and there is no room to jam them in. The main mess hall is the largest and rowdiest it's been in a while; most everyone is excited for the newest event and are even taking bets amongst themselves on who will be enlisted into it, what the creature will be, and even who will die. Food and alcohol is being called for and a steady stream of people is moving both out of and into the room. The kitchens comply with the demands and requests, its staff used to patrons at any time of day or night or to the delivery of food to those who wish to dine alone in their quarters. Of course there is a change in shift around this time, and food flows out at a slower rate when the designated meal times are not in session. There is also no official "lights-out" call, but most gladiators understand that it is in effect a few hours after dinnertime.

Ceilly set quietly in her corner of the mess hall that she had become so fond of. She had already endured a few battles, and she honestly wondered how she had survived them. The opponents they put her up against had been strong, it and was only by luck that she was able to trick them out. She let out a shaky sigh. Her body would be shaking now as well if it wasn't for her limbs now being almost complete steal. Ceilly was surprised she still had to eat and drink to live. She sipped on her cup of tea she ordered, refreshed by its smooth texture. She kept her eye on all the other gladiators, a few of which she recognized and a few she already witnessed fighting. She was beginning to think she wouldn't make it out of here alive.

Adric Reed made his way through the crowds, trying not to get angry at those that threatened him. He couldn't believe the violence of the spectators matched that of the gladiators. There had already been a few deathly fights that had broken out in the crowd and he had only been here for an hour or two. He rubbed his head, wondering when this cyborg would come out to battle. He didn't see her name up on the screen for upcoming battles so he assumed it wouldn't be until the morning when the screens were updated. Adric saw a guard standing off to the side and went up to the bulky man. "Sir is it possible to visit with the gladiators?" The man snorted and shrugged, declaring that he didn't know. Adric sighed and thanked him for his time before turning around to look elsewhere for his answer.

Evangeline was laughing as she leaned against the bar. Tonight she was assigned to tend to the bar where a row of gladiators drunk and fished for her attention. One just finished telling her about his battle that afternoon. He was still pretty beat up and wrapped up like a mummy. She liked that he could still be in such high spirits despite the amount of pain he could still be in. She smiled at him and his look of bewilderment as all of his pain began to slowly leave him with a warm, fuzzy feeling. Evangeline blew him a kiss and slid him another beer. She had to be honest that it was probably only her powers that made the warriors flock to her like this. A few figured out that their comfort and feathery feelings when they drunk came from the one and only "Spirit Weaver" as a few called her. She detested the name, but it was part of her job as staff here. If only they knew that it could do so much more.

Rivera sat in a booth on the side of the cafeteria reading a book, she hadn't fought that day and was glad for the day off, and the surprise gift that had been in her room, the book was on of her personal favorites, on the other side of the booth sat Riven, her wolf Familiar, he was laying the length of the booth and was eating noisily from a bowl near his head. A steaming cup of tea sat next to Rivera's arm as she waited patiently for her food.

Alpha wondered the halls of the Colosseum, searching for any whom may have attempted to sneak in without permission. He could hear the noise from the cafeteria, letting him know that most of the members were eating, and getting ready for the strange event tonight. Alpha smiled, he planned on watching this particular battle, he passed some 'non-angel' guards, these particular two being human, "How goes everything?" Alpha asked in his powerful voice."All is well, Sir." one replied, they were wise enough not to meet Alpha's eyes and to look away once they were done with their report. "Good." Alpha replied, moving off somewhere else.

Strifer Garuwashi

PostPosted: Mon Sep 23, 2013 3:25 pm
Strifer walked into the mess hall to see it full of competitors, some off by themselves, calm and collected, and others streaming around each other in a mass of chaos. It was difficult to tell the pros from the beginners, but usually the ones off by themselves were more confident in themselves than the ones that were making a ton of noise. A gladiator bumped past him walking into the mess hall with a grunt. "Move it rookie." A quick readjustment of his bowler hat, and he moved from the entrance to the table of rabble. It was here he found the spot he had been looking for, the betting tables.

Strifer pushed his way past the larger and bulkier men, his left hand holding his hat to his head as made it to the spot where the names of competitors and their odds. Quickly scanning the list he found his own name, with a 500-1 odd. No optimism for a rookie I suppose. He slapped his right hand on the table, the silver ring on his middle finger causing a small chord to release before it was stifled by his voice. "Twenty thousand credits on competitor Strifer Garuwashi." A round of laughter went up from the men collecting the bets, and all it did was force a smile on his face and a sparkle in his light brown eyes.
"Might as well hand the cash directly to me! I hear he's only here to avoid being caught by the local authorities." A deep voice grumble from behind him. The man wrote the wager down, and Strifer pulled the credits out of his coat to hand to him. A quick count of the credits showed that he was okay and the man nodded as Strifer slipped back out of the crowd.

It wasn't until he was on the outside of the mob of people that he heard someone speak up.
"Wait, is that Strifer Garuwashi the bounty hunter? They say that he broke into the Cat's Eye Nebulic prison to break out one of his target and collect the bounty." A large grin appeared on Strifer's face as he walked out to the outskirts of the mess hall to find a table. He heard his name being called for bets as he made his way back.

Calvin walked through the cafeteria, he nodded to several warriors and smiled to a few others, he bumped into one and gave his apologies, and narrowly missed another, he flashed a friendly smile to that one. He looked around the cafe, trying to see someone he felt like sitting with, he spotted Rivera sitting off by herself and considered joining her. He spotted miss Evangeline and his heart skipped a beat. He quickly walked to where Rivera was sitting. "Howdy miss Rivera, howdy Riven, mind if I join ya?" He gave her a friendly smile.

Zellik peered into the mess hall's interior from the doorway, unsure if he wanted to enter or not. It seemed too crowded for his taste, although that had never stopped the other gladiators from making a path for him. Betting didn't really appeal to him either. Wagering money on odds and lives seemed dishonorable. Largely, it made him furious that one could so with such disregard and no real support to the fighter being betted on. But, he was feeling hungry after the long day, and he rather liked the atmosphere of the hall instead of eating in his room. It had a strange sort of closeness that had been absent for much of his life. The Champion sighed as he came to the conclusion that he might as well go in, and the half-orc easily bulled his way through the lesser, both in size and status, gladiators.

Milla hovered near the large hearth at the back of the mess hall, fully aware that no warm radiated from it but still she felt a little better just being by it. She was grateful that neither her appearance nor her quietness set her apart from the other gladiators; just as many fighters sat by themselves in small pockets of silence compared to the multitudes causing a ruckus. All of them were in the Colosseum for one reason or another. The girl stretched her hands out to the flickering flames as if she were cold, when in reality she didn't really feel any sense of coldness.

The recent announcement was enough to make her shiver. It really shouldn't have. The possibilities that she out of all the available gladiators would be chosen for the awe-inspiring event that would take place were low, but Milla still had a dreadful fear that she would be included.

Shortly after riling the crowd up more than they had been, Kris slipped out of the announcer's booth that protruded from the stands on a balcony as did the VIP section. The other announcer, an intern in truth that he'd been assigned by the higher-ups, stood to the side with some narcotic in his mouth, the smoke from it trailing up in swirls. Not only did the man narrate the fights like Kris, he covered any battles that Kris shirked in favor of "personal forays", as he liked to call it. Really, he just wandered around to Colosseum or the Bazaar in a quest to quench his thirst for information. However this time, Kris left when his shift ended, a semi-rare occurrence. Kris nodded politely at the other man before he practically skipped away, going to collect the biased bets he'd made on some of gladiators he'd just narrated for. There wasn't much that the spectator ticket- and bet-takers could do about it, but nonetheless he was given a dirty eye for his dirty tricks.

Kris happily stuffed the bills, coins, and other amounts of currency into one of the carefully guarded pouches on his belt and was about to descend to the lower levels of the Colosseum, most likely his quarters where he would stash the ill-gotten goods in his safe, when he heard someone ask about visiting the gladiators. When brown haired individual turned away from the guard, perhaps one of the few who actually had little capacity for intellect, and Kris was standing beside him with a chesire cat-like grin on his cheery face. "Hey there pal!" He said loudly, thumping the man on the shoulder good-naturedly. "I couldn't help but overheah that yore lookin' fo a way down below! Now correct me if I'm wrong, but ya are, aren't ya? Sometimes this place can be a real doozy fo the ears!"

Ceilly had finished her tea only a moment ago. She sighed, considering if she should order another pot or not. Really too much tea would be unhealthy if she needed to stay fit. She looked up as Zellik walked in the room and she shuddered. She knew that he was the Champion of the arena, and she wasn't surprised. He was so scary even from a distance. Ceilly continued to look around, wondering if she could spot anyone that looked approachable. She hated being alone all the time. She finally spotted a girl by the hearth with long, dark hair. She looked just as secluded and quiet as Ceilly, so that pushed her to quietly make her way over. She avoided all physical contact she could, already knowing the reactions it would get. She stopped a distance from the girl, her mouth opening without a sound. She closed then made a disappointed face before trying again. "H-hey. Do you mind if I join you?" She managed a small smile.

Adric nearly jumped out of his skin when a stranger hit on his back. He quickly turned around as the guy talked to him. He recognized the voice, but he wasn't sure from where since the face was unrecognizable. "Uh... Yes I am." Adric was unsure if he should disclose the information on why he needed to go there. He figured something would be okay. "I'm interested in the cyborg that is participating in the games. I believe her name was Ceilly?" Adric looked a little hopeful that the guy would recognize the name or race. His co-worker thought it would be great to even get to witness the cyborg fighting, but Adric knew that if he could get close enough to study the body it would be even better to learn the mechanisms.

A girl came up and tapped Evangeline's shoulder, informing her that her shift is changing to a server to replace another girl. She nodded and went off to the back where plates of food were lined up. "How long have these been here!?" She was disbelieving that it was this slow tonight. She quickly grabbed up six plates, balancing three on each arm. She briskly walked back out into the mess hall and began serving the plates. Evangeline was almost too good at this job simply because of her powers. She pushed her way through the crowds with her spirit, no one noticing that they were not moving on their own. She giggled at the thought. She was down to the last plate which was Milla's. She came up after Calvin spoke and sat down Rivera's plate. "Hello Rivera, Riven and..." She looked up to see Calvin's face. She racked her mind but she couldn't remember his name. "And you are? I can't remember." She giggled to herself a bit, a small blush of embarrassment on her face. "I'm an employee here I should know better."

Once into the room, the press was considerably less but still too much for his liking despite the berth he was being given as it was noticed that Zellik was there. He kept a smile from his face at the respect, the expression threatening to turn into a fierce one if he let it go of its own accord, and cast about for a table with his right eye. There were a few by the walls that looked promising, but the one that his gaze truly lit upon was currently being occupied by a couple of men and women already. He wasn't sure what race they were, their skin was blue and their eyes reptilian, but he didn't care. One of the seated occupants saw him coming and slipped away from his companions. They sneered at him, but scrambled to follow his lead when they saw who was approaching the table. A woman was slow in leaving, so Zellik helped her along with a strong boot to her rear to speed her along. The Champion sat down in her chair and sighed in relief; he'd been standing all day and it was the first time he had some rest in a while.

Milla blinked her dark eyes in surprise as someone approached her, wondering if her ghost-white complexion paled further with her nervousness. She was never the best at speaking with people to begin with, but a small ball of courage formed in the pit of her stomach when she noticed that the other girl seemed just as shy as her. "You can join me, if you want to," Milla offered a timid smile of her own, brushing a lock of hair that had fallen into her face away with one gloved hand. "I don't talk much, though, but for your company I thank you."

"Ceilly, Ceilly..." Kris repeated the name to himself, somewhat of a litany to call out memory that had buried itself in his mind. He was always learning new information, after all, and it was no surprise that things became buried under the influx. He muttered it a few more times before the glint returned to his eyes, although it hadn't really disappeared when he sunk into though, and he snapped his fingers. "Ah yeah, Ceilly! Average height, or maybe it was short, whitey-blonde hair in a ponytail an' outfitted with mechanical gear. She's had a good run so far, I'm poi-sonally surprised that someone of her caliber has made it this far against the slew that has been filtered here. Sometimes magic overrules metal gears and springs, y'know!" A sly look entered his eyes. "You a secret admirer of hers or somethin'? She is a pretty cute dame."

Strifer made his way to the back of the room, trying to get away form the masses. Crowds were not for hunters, let alone one of his caliber. When he examined the tables at the edge of the room he saw a cute cyborg standing near a similarly small looking woman. They seemed to be having an awkward exchange of greetings, and they looked like awful prime targets for one of the big boys to strike up and take advantage. Not that he was particularly large himself, but he went over anyways. He came up to the left side of the cyborg, he placed a calming hand on her shoulder for a moment before he removed it and spoke. "What are fine looking ladies like yourself doing all by yourselves? That's a fine way to get hurt I think." He smiled genuinely, despite the scar on his face making one of his eyes look a bit like it was angry.

The girl smiled and nodded to the girl. "Its okay. We can just sit and enjoy the company." Right before she said down a hand was placed on her shoulder. She nearly shrieked, covering her mouth before she did. Cielly turned around as the man spoke. She kept herself in check, not wanting to make a wrong move. "Well I'm sure we're not the only girls that can survive in a place like this." Though her body stood firm, her voice was shaky and her cheeks became a little pink. She was controlled so much her whole life, she didn't need a stranger telling her she would get hurt. At least she had survived this long.

Adric seemed a little skeptical of the guy as he seemed to rack his mind. He wasn't sure what to expect but he was still a little hopeful that he would at least be able to point him in the right direction. His eyes lit up when the man finally recognized the name. Adric wasn't sure if the description was right, he had never seen the girl before. When the stranger mentioned him being an admirer, he quickly raised his hands. "Oh, no, no. Its strictly business. I'm a scientist specializing in mechanics and cyborgs. So I'm very interested in her build." His face reddened a bit as he realized that his reasoning still sounded wrong. "But anyways, can I see her? I would like to meet her."

Rivera gave Calvin a smile, "Course not, Calvin." Riven picked up his bowl and put it on the table, beckoning Calvin to sit next to him. "How ya been? Oh, Hi Evangeline." She patted the spot next to her, "Have a seat." Rivera tore into the loaf of bread that had come with the plate Evangeline brought her. "This is Calvin McClain, I'm not surprised you don't know em, He not here for the Champ title... Speaking of the Champion..." Rivera murmured as Zellik passed. She took a bite of her bread. "Riven, go check the list for tomorrow." The wolf bounded off. "So, how have the two of you been?"
Riven dashed through the crowd, going in between peoples legs, he reached the other end of the room, checking the board. "Yo. Mac, why aren't we on?" The man whom had taken Strifer's money looked at the board. "Huh.. Beats me little pup, guess you guys is on day after." "Damn." Riven muttered, He gave thanks and dashed off, hearing mummers about him talking. He passed Zellik sitting at his table, he decided to take chance. "Damn dude, you look exhausted, rough day at work?"
Rivera paused in mid bite, sensing Riven near Zellik, She decided to let it play out and went back to her conversations.

Calvin's face reddened when Evangeline walked up, "Uh... Well, I, uh.. I got in a fight today and walked out of it.." Calvin held up his bandaged upper right arm. He managed a sheepish smile. "I've been good, and the two you?" Calvin felt his heart going nuts, He hadn't ever mustered the courage to talk to her, even in the long time he had been here. He didn't even know what to talk about! He felt embarrassed and foolish, he had never been good at talking to girl except Rivera, and that was only cause he had tripped over Riven when they first met. "So.. Uh.. How.. How long have you been working here?" Calvin managed.
