Appearance:
User Image
Name: Akane Chizuru
Age: Nineteen
Personality: Very loud, very random, and very very VERY hyper! Akane is as energetic as a huge puppy. But like a puppy, she's also really sweet and very playful.
Bio: Akane was the runt of her little, all the others able to mature and become rather successful. Unlike the rest of her brothers and sisters, Akane is still very childish, still unable to mature and find her place in life. Because of this, she was kicked out of the house, not really minding though. She quickly found an apartment, someone looking for a roommate. However, when she got there, she wasn't expecting her roommate to be a neko! Now she has to live under the same roof as a cat man!
Other: She's rather into video games

Appearance: User Image
Name: Zak Vanderhouse
Age: Twenty
Personality: A little moody, unapologetic, antisocial, self-centered, and generally closed-off. Also mostly quiet, but when he does speak he's very condescending and sarcastic.
Bio: Zak was the oldest of his litter, and also ended up being the highest achiever. After he finished co-parenting his littermates, that is; after his own litter his mother had another. To say he didn't want to have to deal with young ones again after that would probably be an understatement. He went to college at the young age of sixteen and is working on a master's degree currently. Of course, studying would probably be easier if it wasn't for his roommate. Is peace and quiet really such a foreign concept?
Other: Has an uncanny amount of cat traits: the climbing, the sleeping, the likeness of milk and the fascination with watching birds out the window, and even a secret fondness for yarn...

(I know the profile isn't up yet, but I wanted to post this intro anyway. XD)

The bedroom was dark and secluded, a piece of nighttime during the day. The only noise was that of the fan, and what a nice departure from loud music it was. The curtains were drawn to keep out the harsh mid-afternoon sunlight, and what a nice departure from the scorching rays it was.
He was asleep, of course, in some attempt to sleep through the brutal heat of the day and wake up when it was cooler outside. He would wake up in a few hours, once the sun had set, and maybe read a book or study for school tomorrow; the reality was that even though sleep was a wonderful and blessed thing school still existed and would not tolerate being forgotten or shrugged off in any way.
He slept, and dreamed about what it might be like when he became older. There was another neko with him in his dreams, a beautiful female with white ears and a fluffy tail to match. He dreamed of her seafoam green eyes, dreamed of the way she purred when she was happy. He loved to hear that purr, and wondered the ways in which to hear it as often as possible. He dreamed of living a life anew with her, somewhere secluded and off in the country somewhere. The farther away from the big city, the better. There would only be one another, quiet and peaceful and...
What was that sound?

(Finally got internet again)

The silence was like the calm before the storm, that sound a rumbling noise coming from outside the apartment.... and getting louder...
'SLAM!'
The door swung open and was closed is such a loud and rude manner. "Zaaaaaaaakkkkk!" Called out a very loud and very hyper inu. quick to run right into his room and opening up his curtains to get some light in the completely darkened room. "Zak Zak! Guess what? I was asked buy the manger of my favorite gaming shop if I'd want to WORK there!! That'd be like... the BEST job EVER!!!" Akane's eyes were huge, bright, and filled with cuteness as she expressed her overexcitement to him.

PostPosted: Sat Sep 07, 2013 11:55 pm
The sound was none other than Akane, and what had he really been expecting anyway? Groggy from sleep and frustrated because he had been having a good dream, Zak growled a little and pulled the pillow over his head just as Akane pulled open the curtains. The light! It burned! And did she really have to talk that loudly when she was standing right there? Didn't she have any sense?

But, at least there was some good news. If Akane did get a job, it meant she would be out of the apartment more. That might be nice, Zak thought as he continued to try and ignore his inu roommate. The pillow over his head, unfortunately, did almost nothing to filter out the sudden noise in the apartment. What he might have given for peace and quiet.
Good for you, Zak finally murmured to the girl from beneath the pillow. As a result, his voice was slightly muffled and would have even been slightly comical if he were to ever lighten up about things. Why don't you go play some of your games right now?
The way he talked to her was almost like an exasperated parent talking to a high-energy youngster, who just wanted to take a break and be alone for a few minutes to decompress. Zak, of course, had his fair share of experience with young ones and it was a little nightmarish for him to have to deal with someone who acted like one; especially since she was his roommate. It would have been much better for him right now if she just decided to go back to the gaming store or wherever she had just been out to, but as long as she would leave the room in favor of where she kept her games that might be okay too. He would probably just have to take what he could get and hope she wouldn't wake him up again for a few more hours.

Despite how grumpy Zak was for being woken up as he hid under a pillow, Akane simply kept her big smile, her tail wagging happily as she finally got a good word from him, despite it being muffled by the pillow.

Akane and Zak were total opposites in every way, but she didn't mind that much at all talking to him like she would to any other person. He may not think it, but she viewed him as a friend, a very grumpy and lazy friend.

"Okay then! That sounds like fun!" Akane responded with glee, seemingly bouncing out the room to go play her games.

Only after Akane left to go play her games did a grumpy Zak slowly get up to close the curtains once again, and then to close the door again as well. If the games were going to be as noisy as they usually were, Zak didn't really need the invitation that an open door presented. Hopefully, some of the noise might be filtered out. Also, it would help just to provide more darkness, which he preferred.
When night came around again, he would be a little more willing to leave this room. But that wasn't going to be for a few more hours anyway, and he was starting to feel tired...

Soon, he was asleep again, hoping to catch another glimpse of that other neko...

To be expected, Akane was as loud as ever playing her games. Cheering, complaining, getting upset when she was having trouble, all expressed quite loudly in her own cute fashion. Sometimes she even bark from anger, showing her cute canines off (basically saying she's adorable when doing anything). This lasted for a few hours until there was a sudden knock on the door.

"Huh? What time is it?" Akane looked over and realized that the mail had arrived! "Mail time!!" She quickly hurried over to grab the mail, going over it to see what awesome stuff was in there today!

"Zaks... Zaks... Zaks... More of Zaks..." So far it was just stuff for Zak, Akane slightly frowning. "Huh? Oooo!" Finally Akane found something that wasn't for Zak but for her instead! "Yay! My new gamer magazine came in!" She exclaimed happily, eager to read through it around six times to make sure she was keen on the new gaming info.

"Zaaaaaaakkkk!" She called out once again, and once again loudly going into his room. "Hey! You have a lot of mail today! I'm just gonna but in on your desk for later okay?" Walking over to his desk, she simply plopped down his stack and smiled. "Okay! Back to gaming!" She was quick to leave and even closed the door behind her, yet still being very loud.

Even though the door was closed, it could only filter out so much of the noise. The walls were obviously not soundproof either, and it was a relatively small apartment to boot. That, of course, meant Zak was only able to sleep for very short periods of time before suddenly being woken up again by all of the noise coming from the gaming room. Zak, completely exasperated and feeling hopeless about the prospect of sleep, heaved a deep sigh and pulled his ears flat back against his head. All of the noise Akane was making was somehow akin to putting his nerves through a cheese grater, and he really wished she knew how to have fun and be quiet.
Because yes, Zak acknowledged deep in the back of his mind, even though he really didn't care for her noisy antics and her bouncy personality, he didn't want her not to have fun.

He heard the doorbell as well, even though he didn't get up to go see who it was. As it was, even when Zak himself was walking to the door to open it Akane seemed to take some sort of joy in beating him to it. Her favorite seemed to be the mail, some sort of leftover dog trait maybe. From what he had seen in the past, dogs liked to terrorize mailmen for the fun of it. At least Akane didn't do that, or at least not as far as Zak knew.
Fortunately for Akane, today was a mail day. Even with his ears flat back, he heard her exclamations as she picked up the stack of mail and then her slight frustration as she realized most of the mail was actually for him. Most of the time it was just junk mail and bills, so he wasn't feeling worried about getting to any of it right away. It could wait a few more hours, certainly it wouldn't mean the end of the world.

The end of the world came when Akane bounded back into his room and he turned to look at her, with his ears flat back and his tail lashing angrily under the blanket. Sometimes, when he was mad, his pupils even turned to slits like those of an actual cat.
They were doing just that at the present moment. He would have even bared his teeth at her or hissed, and the only reason he didn't was because she left too soon for him to put on an entire display. Besides, it took energy.
When Akane closed the door behind her, Zak found himself pleasantly surprised. Yes, she was still being very loud and his nerves were at their already fringed ends. But maybe it wasn't too late to instill some manners into that girl. Yes, that might be nice.

The gaming had ensued once more, the sounds of Akane's expressions easy to hear as she enjoyed her usual time of gaming pleasure. Her ears would twitch to things like explosions of maybe some epic transformation that would happen in the game. Her tail was always wagging unless a sad moment happened in the game, causing it to fall down to the sadness. Her emotions fueled her gaming; her whole life in a way.

She gamed till nightfall, quickly going to her room to change into her bed clothes, a simply oversized t-shirt to cover herself. "Go go go!" She soon started to scream along with other things like "Take that!" or "Time to cast a spell!" In actuality, she was asleep! It was common for her to simply fall asleep while playing, controller still in hand, her player either running into something or just dead. Gaming was her life, her passion, her love.

If Zak couldn't tolerate all the noise that Akane made during her waking hours of the day, then having to listen to it all over again while she slept was nothing short of completely maddening. Given his ego, he'd have liked to say he could at least tolerate it all because this was her life and he should be able to respect that on at least some level.
The sentiment, of course, was not true.
At least the sun had set. This was his time now. He stretched and yawned hugely, holding his furry black ears back as he did. Then, after getting up and making his bed, he took a shower.
Zak actually took two showers a day, once in the very early morning before he went to sleep (or tried to) and once more when he woke up after sundown. He liked to feel clean and short of licking himself as an actual cat does, this was how he maintained that feeling.

Getting caught in the rain, being anywhere near sprinklers or water balloons, or being near a wet dog ready to shake (take note, Akane) was an entirely different story. Just because he liked to shower did not mean he liked to be wet.

After showering and drying off, Zak was feeling better. Or at least he was until he idly passed by the gaming room on the way to the kitchen (for a glass of milk) and realized Akane was trying to set some sort of record for playing while asleep.
It wasn't working very well, he thought to himself as he padded into the room and gazed briefly at the brightly lit screen. Boundaries, he thought to her as he flicked his dark gaze over at her sleeping form. Have you any?
He turned off the game and was pleased by the darkness the now unlit screen provided. Akane was asleep, and unless she had some sort of sixth sense about these things he felt sure she wouldn't mind.
Then, not wanting to be in the room if it turned out she did indeed have that sixth sense, Zak padded back out of the room and into the kitchen for that glass of milk.

As if programmed to wake up once her game was turned off, Akane's eyes slowly began to open, seeing that the room was pitch black. "Eeep!" She immediately turned on the lights, shaking a little. Turns out she's afraid of the dark, having a nightlight in her room for this reason.

Zak was still in the kitchen, pouring the milk into a tall glass. He hadn't turned on any lights and had squinted when he opened the refrigerator and the small kitchen was suddenly aglow with its florescent yellowish light. He was very proud of his ability to see in the dark, maybe a bit overly so. But at least it meant he wasn't wasting electricity.
He loved the darkness, actually. He liked to feel the cooler air and was especially fond of the sense of seclusion that darkness provided. Now how could anyone be afraid of such a welcoming entity, he wondered?
He filled the glass to the brim, for some reason not too worried about it spilling, and moved to put the milk away. He had to brace himself for a split second, and then he squinted again as he opened the refrigerator door and it shone its fluorescent light once more at him. Then, once the milk carton was in its proper place, he closed the door again and took a few seconds to savor the darkness that once again surrounded him. It would be gone all too soon, unfortunately, when the sun rose. But at least he still had plenty of time until then.
