2 degrees of separation

My coworker came over last night. She was helping me figure out a budget. I'm still massively overwhelmed, but we began discussing work and a former patient. Only to realize thanks to this person, we now have only degrees of separation from Oppenheimer.

This person knew him personally and was proud of that fact. It was a teacher/student relationship that developed into a friendship. And it was just weird listening to tales of waiting for the train together.

At least it wasn't Hitler.

I still think there is a good 6 degrees there even if I did play on the same terrace as he played with his niece on.

I'm like 5 or 6 degrees away from Oppenheimer. Someone on my maternal grandmother's side of the family worked on the project and was one of the guys who mathematically proved that exploding an atomic bomb wouldn't ignite the atmosphere.

Maybe it's because I am stupid or because I work in the financial industry or whatever, but I had no idea Oppenheimer was anything but a brokerage firm and had to google for context.

Well you normally think of Einstein with the hydrogen bomb, but Oppenheimer was a key player as well. Thank you for making me feel like a geek for knowing though LOL.
