Daring Do shivered into being awake, she felt cold and wet. As her eyes slowly blinked open, all she could see was white. "What?" Daring rubbed her eyes again, but nothing changed. "How could this..." She shivered again. Daring was less familiar with snow, exploring during the snowy season was just dangerous. She felt around herself, thinking she was blind, her hands felt the stinging burn of sheer cold. Daring winced, but pushed on anyways, trying to get herself to her feet. Her hands sunk slightly into the white as she put pressure onto the snow, but she did manage to get herself standing up right. Now that she was upright, things were starting to make more sense. "Hello?" Daring shouted very quietly, she didn't want to cause an avalanche by yelling at a mountainside. The faun didn't immediately see anyone else near by. Where was everyone and where did this white stuff come from?
Daring Do, tilted her head forward and a large drift of snow fell from the rim of her hat, startling her. Daring wasn't easily spooked, so it was clear she was bit on edge right now from the sudden turn of events. Daring Do started digging through the top layer of snow using her hands, looking for any signs beneath it. Was the campsite buried? Were the other pae buried? She was looking for anything, bits of tent or maybe... no she hoped she didn't find that. There was no way anyone could survive beneath the snow. Her fingers quickly became numb from digging in the snow, and Daring held them to her shirt and rubbed, trying to warm them back to life.
It was clear digging with her hands wasn't going to work, Daring began searching through her pack for anything she could use to dig. What kind of stupid explorer fairies wouldn't have a shovel in their pack?!

It was the cold that caused Sunny to start to wake. It was odd it was very cold not something that she had normally had to deal with since she was clothed in a tent in a sleeping bag... She snapped open her eyes surprised to see snow. before them. Her brain went into over drive Sleeping in snow was a bad idea so she quickly jumped out of her snow burrow to look around her. All she saw was white there were no fires no Scruffy little faeries who look grumpy or any other pae at all. She pulled her self out of the hole that she had been in only to find her self still sinking in. "Great just great. Sign up for a relaxing trip up a mountain and end up stuck in the snow." sh grumbled to her self as she messaged her fingers to get the feeling back into them before sticking them into her pants pockets. she took a slower look around she noticed another figure who seemed to be digging.
Well the more the merrier she thought as she trouged though the soft snow over to the Fauny. This took more effort and had caused her shoes and pants which had been damp before to get covered in the snow making them weigh a lot more. It was soon that she realized who was digging. "Nice and Chilly ain't it?" she said to the Fauny "You should stop digging or else your fingers might freeze."
Daring looked up from the bag she had been searching through as she heard a voice, she quickly realized it belonged to the pae that had seemed similar to her in some ways from their brief walk out of the cave, Sunny. "Yeah... I didn't think it was going to be like this until further up the mountain..." Daring agreed. She had worked vigorously to try to warm up her hands. She could feel them, but the sensation burned. "Do you know what happened?" she asked. "I assumed it snowed pretty heavily last night, I was looking for any evidence that the camp might be beneath us..." Although how Daring would end up on top of instead of buried alive in her tent, she couldn't guess, but it was all she had to go off of since she couldn't remember much from the night before. "You don't happen to have a shovel in your pack, do you?"

"No this is not the camp site if it was we would be buried in our tents under the snow. Aka entombed on a vacation." as she looked around something did not make sense. "Actually it is strange they did not wake me. Unless they were and I did not notice." she mumbled to her self. "I do not think I have a shovel although I do have a pick ax but I think we should get some shelter before we freeze to death out here. I guess no more exploring for us." she sighed as she looked around for some cover.
Daring had thought as much, but neither option seemed to viably explain how she had woken up in snow. The faun raised her eyebrows at the other, they did not wake her? Daring supposed it was possible that the fairies had picked up camp and moved all the pae out hours ago, before it even snowed, and they somehow slept through it? Her mind was running around in circles of possible theories, and it was starting to give her a headache. Enough of this, there was no way to know, and they needed to move on before the temperature dropped any more, Sunny was right about needing to find shelter. "Quite the opposite," Daring responded to Sunny's comment on the exploration being over. This was going to be far more like exploring then it would have been if they had stayed with the group. Perhaps that is why the fairies left them to their own devices: potential.
Daring stood up from her spot on the snow, quickly brushing some of the cold stuff off of her legs. She gave a glance around the clearing, it was the first time she had really looked around her. She saw something grey that stood out among the snow, it was fuzzy. Daring Do winced at it, to try and see it clearer, it was still fuzzy, but that's because Daring realized it was a Squirrel, it didn't look familiar to her. "Well, wildlife is a good sign, means its not an impossible situation, he has to be able to handle the cold as well..." she mentioned.

"There is potential for a exploration but lets talk about..." A large gust of wind blew by taking her hat with it. Sunny looked stunned for a second before putting her hand to her temple. "Bad day." she said as she went running after her flying hat using her other hand to free her whip from her belt. "You are not getting away that easily." As she ran Sunny Did not pay attention to were she was going and found the rock that was covered in snow and tripped over it going face first in to the snow. "Ouch" she said as she got up looking to see were her hat was.
Daring narrowed her eyes, there was going to be a lot of exploration going on if they hoped to find any shelter from the elements. The nice things was that she did have enough food in her pack for them to probably survive off of for at least one night, perhaps another if they were careful. Water was a no-brainer, they could melt the snow and drink it, but right now they needed shelter to stay warm.
As Daring was staring at the rodent across the clearing from her, she thought it might be proactive to kill it to have more food for later. Daring dug through her bag and pulled out the pocket knife and began to charge the squirrel. However, the squirrel also seemed to be charging her as well, that was odd. As they got closer, and Daring began to see its eyes, she did not like the look in them. The faun stopped dead in her tracks, did a 360 and ran off in the opposite direction. Daring Do did not have very good luck with wildlife. "Run!" she shouted at Sunny.

Sunny turned as she heard Daring shout. Well she thought it was Daring she could not be 100% postive some of the dead were pretty loud also But most of the voices were saying the same thing RUN. Sunny got up and ran over to daring and looked over she sholder to see the crazy Squirrel running after them.
"What you do to make him mad?" she said with a grin before she closed her eyes and seemed to be listening to something as she ran. Opening her eyes she Grabbed Darings hand. "DO YOU TRUST ME?" she said calmly.
Daring was confused as to why Sunny might be smiling about the squirrel gone nuts, but she didn't have time to think about it as she kept running past the other pae. She didn't have a clue why the squirrel would be chasing them, unless it was really hungry, but Daring didn't want to stick around and find out. She paused for a moment only when Sunny grabbed at her hand, Daring turned her head over her shoulder to look at the other female. "I suppose so," she responded, Daring didn't have much choice but to trust the pae that she had met only a night or two ago.

When she heard the other females response well this was going to make this a little less strange. She said a prayer the guardians way hopefully the dead were not lying this time. As she sped up and then pushed the Fauny to the left she soon joined her. Nothing had happen Sunny wondered if they had lied She then heard the reassuring crack and crash as the ground they had been laying on broke under the combined weight of the two pae and the snow and sent them falling into a mine.
Sunny held on tight to Daring using her wings to slow there decent although they were still going pretty fast. They landed hard into the darkness. Sunny sat against a wall her head was filled with the voices of the dead making it hard for her to think but she was able to get out a few words. "Daring are you ok?"
The place the explorer duo found themselves was not, necessarily, unexpected. After all, they had previously been in a mine, and another mine up in the mountains was probably nothing new.
The good thing was that the hole Sunny and Daring fell through was not necessarily a large one. So long as they got themselves far away from the hole, they'd likely be fine to stay down here to get some shelter from the elements. Being down here was not terribly likely to help them with anything like food or water, though, as there didn't sound like there was anything of use within the near vicinity.
Considering how much food Daring had, though, that was likely not an immediate concern.
In order to see in front of them, the duo would likely need a lantern. If they lit the lantern up, they would see several different paths from leading off into the dark from where they were now. There was one to their left, with footprints on the ground that hinted it had been traveled recently. One to the right contained no visible footprints, definitely an unbeaten path. And there was one in front of them, with a high, decorated arch, that looked like it headed down.
Their maps did not seem to be of any help here.

The faun looked around, stunned as she looked around, not being able to see much of anything except for a few spots lit up by the small opening they had fallen through. Her bum hurt something awful, a warning would have been nice... but how did they even... how did the other pae know? "What's going on here?" Daring asked, skeptical of the situation. She slowly stood up, brushing off her bottom, spots of her body tender to the touch. "I'll be alright..." she confirmed after her personal inspection. "Did you know? How?" Daring asked, she peered up looking at the hole above them, seemed they were safe from the crazy squirrel now, and had solved the shelter problem, but so much for melting down the snow.
"You still have your lantern?" Daring asked Sunny as she no longer a fire to steal light sources from. Daring fumbled around for matched in her bag anyways, even a little bit of light would help, but she didn't want to burn through all the matches too quickly either.

Sunny sighed At least Daring was ok but she did bring up the topic that Sunny was very unsure how the Fauny would handle the true answer instead she switched the subject. "yeah my lantern should be in my bag." She pulled off her bag and started to riffle though it until she came upon what felt like the lantern and pulled it out. "Here it is although it is is going to be a pain to light." She felt around in her bag until she came upon what she believed was the matches and pulled one out and stuck it using it to light the lantern. It took her 2 tries but soon there was a golden glow of light in the chamber.
The three paths made Sunny confused and the voices of the dead could not agree on what way to take. "Look like we have 3 choices that we can choose from."
Daring shook her head, it must have been an accident that they fell down in this hole, it had to be. She quit searching her bag for matches once Sunny confirmed she still had her lantern. Daring winced at first, from the light and adjusting to it, but she also so the three paths that Sunny referred to. Daring walked back and forth between them investigating for any clues. She motioned for Sunny to follow her, so that she could have the light source nearby and see better. "Look there is tracks here.." Another pae perhaps? Someone from their party even...
Looking at the decorated arch next, Daring wondered if there might be something important down that way. Why go through so much work to make such a defined archway otherwise. The other path had nothing for Daring to go off of. Was this place another mine... or perhaps a place of importance. Who lived on the mountain aside from fairies? They were all questions circling through the explorer's head. "Does your map show anything?" Daring seemed to remember that Sunny had gathered a different map on their journey.
Daring was unsure whether she wanted to follow whatever pae might have passed through not long ago or under the decorated arch to see what historical treasures might be there. Now wasn't the time for exploring though, was it? Who was Daring kidding, it was always time for exploring. "I think I'd like to go this way... unless you have a reason against it..." Daring was curious about the other's incite, she seemed to be a well-seasoned explorer as well.

I keep thinking of the idndiana Jones Ride at Disneyland
Sunny walked over to look at the the tracks. "This could be a good sign as a baa..." She looked around bothered as she closed her eyes and mumbled to her self. "Quiet, I do not need the peanut gallery comments." she sighed before getting up and looking at the next archway It was much more decorative. "Why would they put so much effort into making something that no one would see. Or did they get trapped down here. also if it was done by the faeries then why is it this scale?" She was quiet. She looked at the third arch nothing seemed special about it for some reason that one called to her.
Darings question caused her to remember about the old map. "Oooh yeah I forgot about that." she went into her bag and pulled out the map. Using the lamp she looked over the map there seemed to be nothing like these archways. "I do not see anything." she looked at the path the other was intrested in it was not that one she wanted but it would work. "There is nothing I can see wrong with your choice. Lets go."
