I play, but I have mostly out of date cards from the older series. I haven't gotten any cards since they first launched the "EX" typing on cards. I do have a few hybrid decks, and I sometimes pull out my old "Brushfire" and "ZAP!" decks, and my Japanese Blastoise/Vinasaur 2-player Starter Box Set decks from when they released the cards in the US to teach friends how to play with low challange cards etc. The Hybrid decks I have are Psy/Steel, and Fire/Electric that are kind of built around old legendary Pokemon like my Psy/Steel deck is based on Jarachi, and my Fire/Electric deck is built around the original Ho-oh... So I don't know how the newer cards would work in competitive play with the new Dragon types, and and all the new "Pokemon Powers" they have added in.

I was trying to see what kind of decks people use because Blastoise Keldeio , Reshram Enbore are dominating decks.

General DJ I was trying to see what kind of decks people use because Blastoise Keldeio , Reshram Enbore are dominating decks. They have the new X/Y packs coming out after the Tourny in Vancouver which is going to flip the current meta on its head. So... I wouldn't look too much into it before then because not only will it launch the new Fairy type cards but its going to have more Dragon types too, not to mention a boat load of new "EX" cards. And in my opinion the Fairy cards are going to make a lot of plays, and new meta decks like Steel/Poison decks to counter them.

I actually run a Gardevoir poison deck. It focuses around Gardevoir, Gallade, Muk, and Crobat to inflict massive poison with the help of Virbank City Gym, or epically one shot you with a Gallade Powerful Storm while having a good 7 energy cards attached to my pokemon all together.
The other one I am wanting to run is actually a Haxorus/Aggron deck both from Plasma Blast (Megalo Cannon in japan) and will have the same idea of more energy equals more death.

I run three decks. One is an Ice Deck based on my Gym team. It focuses on attacking the Bench.
I have a Grass/Fire Deck that uses Cherrim's abilities that either raise my grass and fire damage output by 10 or reduce our damage taken by 10.
And an Electric/Flying Deck that focuses on my Raichus and Pichu using the Memory Berry tool. The idea is to get Pichu and have it hold Memory Berry. It's move allows me to draw 4 electric energies from the discard pile and place them in my hand. With memory Berry, I can use it in the Raichu stage. Then once I have enough energy for Raichu to use Thunderbolt (100 damage). I have to discard all the energies attached to Raichu. I use Pichu's move to get the energies back. Retreat (Retreat cost is 0). Then reload the energies for another Thunderbolt. At the same time, I use a Pokemon Center Stadium card that allows me to heal off any damage he's taken while he's in the bench. It sounds more complicated than it is.
Once Fairy type is out, I plan to make a deck based on Fairy and.. some other type. I can't decide yet.

I don't have a deck, but have a lot of cards. I'd love to learn to play the TCG and compete, but there really isn't anyone around here to teach me. When I was little, my younger brother and I used to make up rules all our own to battle. I won a lot. *grin*

I have actually finished my Haxorus deck. It does not actually feature Aggron, as he could not be used as of too high energy cost. I have a playset of Haxorus and Axew, with 2 Fraxure, and 4 Rare Candies. I use a Float Stone Keldeo-EX just to phase away those annoying Hypnotoxic Lasers. It uses Jirachi-EX as a way to search through my deck, finding a Cilan for Energy, Skyla for Master Ball/Ultra Ball/Pokemon Catcher, or Colress/N for a new hand. Over all, there are about 5 pokemon I cannot one shot with my preferred set-up, being any non-team plasma EX with 180 HP, along with Eviolite, or Giant Cape, or a 170 HP Non-EX pokemon. The reason for that would be 4 steel energy/blend energy gives my Haxorus 160 damage, and Silver Bangle makes me deal 190 to any EX. That will kill any EX not under the rules of 180 HP with Eviolite/Giant Cape, or Non-EX with 170. Even then, the few that do exist that fits that can't kill my pokemon faster than I can kill theirs.
In all honesty, I have found only a few ways to get past it also. Smooth Coat Cinccino, Zapdos EX with Agility going off, or one shotting my pokemon using 140+ damage moves.

I played the first gen card game, but after that I just collected ones I liked. If I could mix old and new gens into one deck, i'd probably be more willing to play.

What I basically do is buy the structure decks that I think look good and then completely revamp them. So I have a bunch. I don't have anyone to play with but it's fun for me to build the decks and play against computers online. My favorite would probably be my revamp of the Plasma Shadow Deck (psychic/grass). I was able to add Lugia EX and Giratina Lv. X in there. It just uses brute force. My other favorite would probably be a revamp of the Crystal Guardians deck: Green Cyclone (grass/normal). It features Venusaur but I also added in some Tornadus. The special energy cards in that deck make it good. These decks are by no means legal to use in tournaments because most of the cards are outdated but I think they're cool.
