A manor that once belonged to Godaime Hokage Noctis Shinsetsu, it has since been mostly demolished and repurposed for the advancement of the Arts and Trades in Konohagakure. Many items were imported from Sunagakure and once owned by the Judai Hokage Masahiro Hatake. What was once an antechamber that had been, at one point, retrofitted into an office for the Hokage's Secretary while the doors beyond this lead into a temporary Hokage's chamber, they now are set up as an Art Gallery, displaying some of the finished products made by the faculty and student body.

Just inside the front entrance is a small supply store for every worker's needs - at a cost. Raw materials and tools are only Tier 1, and at an inflated price to the regular market, due to convenience and overheads. So item that would normally cost only 100Ryo would instead cost 150Ryo at the Art Academy Supply Store. Some students actually hone their skills by crafting items for the store to sell.

As people enter the main building they are greeted by an open lobby, with several stations through which people may enrol into one or more of the available classes, where experience teachers will guide their students to the finer points of each craft. Materials and tools are provided for every student, no matter the skill level, however they are only Tier 1 in quality and heavily used, respectively.

General Academy Perks;
• -1 Post reduction for all crafting missions
• Only [ Tier 1 ] materials and tools supplied

Academy Rules;
• Free use is available to all residents of Konohagakure
tab tab No Ryo can be earned completing Crafting missions with the Academy's resources
tab tab No items (except for the item crafted) may be earned

Over the village, the spores descended, looking for a specific chakra source. Friendly to all but the harshest of exotic chakra, most folks would be just fine as they were. Descending, they would clean up the area of its infection. Finished, they would form bodies and then leap back away out of the village, leaving the area free of the Kyuubi's chakra infection.

Returning to the village, Masahiro made his way to the former Shinsetsu Manor and began to square away the items of import that he had delivered from Sunagakure in his past. Clearing a table and igniting the forge he would settle himself into the study of mechanics for a time, his mind planning many great projects.

Too long consumed in the loss of his daughter and the adjustment to his position as Hokage, Masahiro sat. Drawing forth a series of mechanical texts he continued his studies. He had many great plans when he resided elsewhere, but now he needed to work on something new, something that would help out more students, more shinobi, and even himself. A small sketchbook opened on the table beside him he began to draw on his ideas.
[ 1/9 ]

Several ideas and variations for the project came to mind. A whip in a series of enclosure, a wire launcher, a conduit to traverse Chakra. As the ideas flowed he continued to refer back to sections of the tomes, before sketching and writing down wiring paths for the items. A connection to the user to draw chakra to form and move the wires, as well as launching them. He paused, inspecting the designs. He would need a fair bit of steel for this project, after all.
[ 2/9 ]

The Wire Launcher was born in it's infancy, a solid concept that could be used for many new effects. Though further testing would be requisite on exactly how to process the chakra draw, and methods of passing it into the item would be designed. Still, Masahiro sat, waiting, designing, his goals moving nearer to fruition.

Stepping to the forge with a set of tongs in hand and a hammer hung from his belt, the Kage would grab one of the steel ingots in his possession and begin to work it into the heat. He stood a time, waiting for the heat to soak into the material and waited for it to reach critical temperature for easy deformation. Drawing the steel from the forge he would then proceed to the anvil, where he had placed a hot-cut tool into the hardy hole. Holding one end of the ingot over the tool he began to hammer the other end to shear through it and would then reposition and make a second cut off of equal size.
[ 4/9 ]

Moving the pair of smaller ends to sit on the heat table in front of the forge, Masahiro would return the main piece into the flames, drawing it's temperature upwards before returning to the anvil. Hammer in hand the Hatake would begin to hammer and strike the steel, drawing the distance out of the steel. When he thinned and drew it out to the desired size he would then proceed to hammer the edges into a ninety degree crease on either side, coating the steel in flux. These folds he would then fold over onto themselves.before reheating and re-fluxing to make a secure forge-weld with no cold-shuts in the interior.
[ 5/9 ]

Taking the project while still at medium temperatures he would reach for a drift and move the hot-cut tool off of the anvil. Hammering the drift into the back end of his project he would then take it and true it up on the tapered end of the anvil before returning it to the quench tank. Quenching the launcher in oil, he would then remove it and place it into a second, heated, oil tank to temper it.
[ 6/9 ]

The wheels he would hammer out and true up utilizing other tools, making sure to keep them in an equal size. Drifting their centers out together he would then affix a central beam between the two, wherein the wires would be wound and unwound. Taking these he would then braise them together, using another, filler-type metal to bind them in place.
[ 7/9 ]

The next part of the process would be making several more pieces for the engineering aspect of the build. Placing them in various places as he built them, making sure the theory behind the project would work even still. He would then set the whole assembly aside and wipe the sweat off of his brow.
[ 8/9 ]

Then in the end came assembly. Grabbing a spool of chakra-steel wire the man would secure it into the central peg within the wheels. Then setting up the winding assembly he would set in a series of tension coils made from chakra steel as well. The prime process being to expand or contract the wheel depending on how much chakra was put into their assembly. Setting the wires to flow through a guide at the front end, the Hatake then secured the whole piece to strips of leather, then wrapped around his wrist.
[ 9/9 Project Complete ]

[ This project actually consisted of several smaller jobs, though once combined the end result would have been an A-Rank Special Job. So I commenced in setting them into one project. ]

Easily portable power supplies, or even larger generators, something that those outside of the shinobi class always sought. The ability to quickly and safely produce power, to power a home, a hospital, or even just a radio to enjoy the sultry voice of a much beloved singer. The problem was finding a method of deliver that was safe. Harnessing the wind was good, but it took unsightly towers and many of them. Harnessing the atom was expensive and hazardous. Some would answer this question with chakra, but that required the sacrifice of many shinobi to constantly power the systems. But some, as Masahiro, knew of other sources of power.
[ 1/4 ]

Gelel, and to a lesser extent Orichalcum, harnessed chakra naturally, and if they weren't over taxed they could do so for an indefinite timeframe. Much like the sennin they drew this chakra from the natural, ambient, chakra flow of the world. This knowledge, this facet of power, was something the Wild Cats Sennin wanted to bring to the world. He began to draw out the plans for harnessing this power, but realized, the seed would have to be shaped properly for the greater mechanism.
[ 2/4 ]

First he would begin with the Gelel, drawing out a small smattering of the material he had gained before he would set to refining it, to shaping the material as best it would take. The material was flush with chakra, refining it into a a gem type shape he began the first half of the process. He had enough material immediately on hand to make one 'battery' of Gelel from an amount of 0.375 lbs of the stone.
[ 3/4 ]

Setting the Gelel off to the side Masahiro would set to the forge work. Heating another steel ingot the Hokage would cut it down to half of the ingot, then cut that half down into two quarters.one of these quarters would get hammered out into a sheet. Pressed and folded twice over. Getting the sheet drawn out right, the man would then drift a hole into both halves of the sheet, so that when folded over they would be directly over each other, but flared out in different directions. To hold something at their center. During this pass Masahiro would continue to measure and fit the Gelel stone into the core of the metal, cooling it before attempting. Once he got the measurements right the Hatake would then heat the crease between layers and fold them over, sealing the Gelel stone within the center with it showing on either side of the metal. From here it would be more work, heating points of the metal at a time and forge welding the metal around the stone. This newly formed chakra steel layer would allow for the chakra to pass through the Gelel into the 'gateway' and then into whatever it was fitted to.

‡ Gelel Batteries cannot be overcharged, i.e. charged past initial amount.
‡ Gelel Batteries cannot be utilized directly, but must be drawn on through other systems/generators/powergrids/machines.

Looking over his creation he would admire the craftwork and the energies it put off into his fingertips for a brief moment before returning to the drawing board. Opening his sketchbook he set the Gelel Battery down beside it and began drawing a new schematic, this one, unlike the last would be drawn around the idea of refined Orichalcum. The shape and structure of this one would be different, however, than the smaller disks made for the Gelel.
[ 1/4 ]

Sketching out the requisites for the shape, he first drew out the shape of the orichalcum when refined into bar shape. These would have to be changed somewhat. Instead of a bar, he designed the piece to be cylindrical. This cylindrical ingot of Orichalc would then have to be set into a sleeve of chakra steel to regulate it's powerflow and prevent explosive results when mounted in machinery.
[ 2/4 ]

Refining and condensing Orichalc was a lot easier of a job than working with Gelel, a lot less chance of explosive recourse from heating and forming the ore into an ingot, whereas Gelel had to be treated kindly and melded with true patience. The ever-present tingle of chakra made it a little more of a headache to initially craft, but once the ore was molded into a perfectly useful cylindrical base, what came next was a bit more of a challenge. The sleeve would have to be made from a sheet of chakra steel. Thus would Masahiro begin to set to work. Crafting the prototype casing he made an open cylinder of steel, treated and tempered with chakra, before threading the ends and setting to making caps for them. Screwing one cap down he would then leave the other end open.
[ 3/4 ]

Sliding the Orichalc ingot into the core he felt it connect with the bottom cap. From here he would attach the other cap and seal it within. Now if the core were to melt down from over use it wouldn't shock the entirety of the system it was connected to, and the chakra Steel should do far better at containing the forces than leaving the material exposed in an open fixture.
[ 4/4 Special Job Completed :: Gearsmithing D Rank ]

Orichalcum Battery:
Creation Type: Miscellaneous
Username: Wolfe Whitehorn
Patent Holder: Masahiro Hatake
Weight: 1-1/2 pounds
Size: 4"x4"x8" deep
Requisite Materials:
‡ Three Quarter Ingot of Chakra Steel
‡ One Ingot of Orichalcum minimum Weight of 0.75lbs
‡ ( Larger variations require this amount per category and increase the Chakra level proportionately )
Construction Requirements:
‡ Requires Orichalcum Ingot to be refined [ E-Ranked Job ]
‡ Requires Chakra Steel: Battery Case to be created [ E-Ranked Job ]
‡ Requires Gearsmithing and Blacksmithing
‡ Requires Mechanic Volume II
‡ Creation of Orichalcum Battery is a D-Ranked Job
Effects & Rules:
‡ Allows Oricalchum to be harnessed for Energy in Mechanical Means.
‡ Acts as Battery Source
‡ Reduces risk of Orichalcum Overuse by altering outflow of Chakra
‡ One Orichalcum Battery has 80 Chakra initially.
‡ Depleting an Orichalcum Battery burns out the Battery Case and prevents further use.
‡ Orichalcum Batteries refresh at a rate of 5 Chakra per post.
‡ Orichalcum Batteries cannot be overcharged, i.e. charged past initial amount.
‡ Orichalcum Batteries cannot be utilized directly, but must be drawn on through other systems/generators/powergrids/machines.

Now, from this, the next piece would be required to truly flesh out their utter uses. Generators compatible with their configuration. This, however, was a hassle Masahiro would take a slight break before attempting to tackle. Grabbing his two prototype batteries he would inspect them before opening his Jounin Scroll to hide them.

Entering the Academia the Hokage smiled and made his way back towards his private little work bench. Pushing out his scroll he would summon a set of materials from it. Removing a few wooden planks, planer, shaver, and a rasp he would also remove a saw and set them on a table.

Lining the planks up he would begin some simple work with the saws. Cutting the planks at specific points he would form dovetail joints that secured the boards together. Once he had made several of these at the proper measurements, he would then sidle the boards up to each other and with a twist and some hammering set them in their grooves, locking them securely together.
[ 1/6 ]

Grabbing his saw and a piece of charcoal from the forge, the man known as Masahiro would then begin to trace lines on the wooden frame. These lines would be the cutoff points for the spare wood. Through a few trials of error and aesthetics, eventually Masahiro settled on one design he preferred for his creation.
[ 2/6 ]

Accepting the shape the Kage then brought the saw to bear, carving out section by section of the spare area of wood. A few interior cuts where the board dipped in for accent or aesthetics would try the Kage's patience a little, but he carried forward. Then sawing through the last of the board he smiled as he saw the material fall away and was pleased with the shape of the board left behind.
[ 3/6 ]

Taking the planer to the wood he would begin to make sure the top half of the construction was entirely flat. Stroke after arduous stroke until the top only appeared to bow somewhat from the state of the wood prior. Then following with a few strokes more he finished this top ridge.
[ 4/6 ]

Next he would take the shaper and begin to cut out a ridge of the front end, making it somewhat thinner than the back end of the board. This ridge would then taper into two rises at the back end of the board which connected and came down to an even point on the tail with an angled flat plane. Taking the rasp and file he would begin to accentuate the valley between the two points in the middle of the board.
[ 5/6 ]

"Perfect, perfect, and inside of that I can set the Battery. Just have to make a piece of chakra steel to fit the difference. Orichalcum would give off too much chakra, wouldn't be rideable in that state. Although... Bigger plans, bigger build, later." The man spoke as he continued to plan.

Sanding and buffing the outer layer of the board the shinobi smiled and set his work off to the side for a moment. Retrieving a bucket of varnish he began to go over the bottom of the board with it, bringing out the rose colours of the wood.
[ 6/6 Special Job :: Woodsmithing - C Rank Hover Board Base completed ]

Smiling a bit at his completed base, the Hatake then walked over to the nearest forge, striking up some kindling and beginning to apply air via the bellows. As the flames grew to a decent size he would set in an ingot of steel and wait for it to come to temperature. Watching the flames roar and rest around the ingot he was patient, it wouldn't take long.
[ 1/4 ]

Grabbing his hammer and moving the steel over to the anvil Masahiro would behin to flatten one half of the ingot out into a sheet of steel. The other end he would then begin to spread out just a little, then widening a collar n the middle, leaving it thicker at both ends. Beginning to hammer this out he would continue to measure against the fit of his orichalcum chakra battery.
[ 2/4 ]

Spreading the material further, he checked the fit of his battery once more. It fit perfectly, but would need a mechanism to keep it in place once set. Delegating this to a later task he would begin to hammer it into place. Though, shortly another idea would fall upon him, though it would take slightly upsetting the material as he had set it currently.
[ 3/4 ]

Upsetting the material to reduce it, Masahiro would then hammer it back into an even shape. From here he took to a tricky job and began to drift a hole through one end, a hole that would be large enough to fit the battery into. Working over the hardy hole of the anvil he eventually got the drift to the required width and began to hammer the shape around the edges to fit the ridges on the board. He would then take a spare cap and thread the interior of the fitting to match it.

Test sliding the battery in and out of the slot a few times, then capping it he felt a slight hum of chakra and realized he would have to make a shutoff to keep it from being constantly flowing.
[ 4/4 Special Job :: Blacksmithing - D Rank Hoverboard Reflector Completed ]

Returning to the forge with another ingot of steel the Hatake would begin to make another piece for the hoverboard. A switch that required a source of chakra be atop it to connect the circuit to the battery. Heating the ingot to temperature he would then proceed to cut the ingot off at the three quarters mark, taking the quarter he severed for use.
[ 1/4 ]

Shaping the piece into a taper that pressed down into the battery compartment he began to work. He would have to carve a socket through the board and hammer out a proper measurement in the reflector as well. Grabbing his chisel, hammer, and a file he soon set to work.
[ 2/4 ]

Instead of solely drilling the hole through the board, Masahiro made a taper to fit the socket of the switchplate. Once he found it lined up properly he began to drill through the core of the board. Following this task he took to the file and began to smooth out the interior lining of this new socket.
[ 3/4 ]

Following this the Hatake held the plate where it would sit over the board and began to lift the board until it was parallel with the table and the switchplate, which was sitting on the table, barely touched to the metal. Placing his free hand on the switch, he forced a small bit of raiton through the switch to mar the surface of the reflector plate where they did meet. Perfecly lined up with the edge of the battery casing. Taking the reflector plate to the forge he heated it until it was decent enough to drift another holt. Opening it up just enough to fit the switch, he then began final assembly. Drilling small holes and riveting the materials together, adjusting the switch to fit, and then inserting the battery.

Drawing on more of the Wood Bundles Masahiro set one on the table in front of himself. First setting in with the saw Masahiro would begin to cut the bundles down to equal sizes. In doing this he came to a total of five handle lengths. The blocks he set off to the side and then reached for the rasp and files.
[ 1/2 ]

Setting the blocks into the vice, one after another to begin work, Masahiro grabbed the rasp and began doing the larger part of the stock removal. Clearing the heavier stock the man then began to change to the files, smoothing down the handles. A few minutes more of finishing work and the Hatake smiled, looking at the five weapon handles before himself.
[2/2 Special Job :: Woodsmithing E-Rank Create Five Sword Handles ]

Sliding over to the forge Masahiro would then feed another chunk of coal to the flames, tossing in a piece of steel before grabbing it with the tongs. Pulling the steel out of the flames he would lay it upon the anvil and grab his hammer, beginning to hammer it out to a rough shape. Though this action would take a fair while, the Hatake was not bothered.
[ 1/6 ]

Working the metal until it fell cool he would replace it into the forge. A minute or two soaking up heat before removing it once more he began to refine the shape. Drawing on a pair of leather gloves and grabbing one of his files he would clamp the hot blade to a workbench and begin to hot-file the edges into the refined shape he wanted.
[ 2/6 ]

Reheating the blade he would return to the anvil and hold the blade at a high angle. Striking several times on this angle before turning the blade onto it's flat and trueing it out. This would set the edge bevel and prepare it to take it's ultimate blade.

After finishing the edge bevels the Hatake would set the project off to the side and reach for the files and other equipment. Setting the blade onto the bench vise to keep it in place he would then begin to slowly work at the blade. Some basic polishing and removal at first.
[ 1/6 ]

He would find that parts of the blade were more work-hardened than the rest and would unclasp the blade, taking it and thrusting it into the forge once more. A few minutes to anneal the metals he would take it to the anvil and with a leather faced hammer straighten where it slightly warped.
[ 2/6 ]

Returning to filing and grinding on the sword he would begin to remove the scale formed during the annealing process. This took several minutes, but left the blade looking like a scratched steel surface, much less of the finished product than expected. But, as with all things, it took time an patience.
[ 3/6 ]

Finer grains of filing work, minutes and hours spent winding down each layer. Yet this would not be the last of it. More whiteworking would have to be done after the next step of working this blade. Getting it down to a decent sheen and reflectivity, the Hatake would slide it over to the table for claying, in preparation for the final heating and tempering work.

Returning to the hot work, the Hatake would reheat the blades after the basic whitesmithing work. Heating the point of the blade he would hammer it back so it began to take the standard katana tip instead of a Box-cutter like pattern, As he did this the standard curve would show excellently.
[ 4/6 ]

Placing the blade back into the forge now, he would work it back and forth, keeping it at an even tempering point before drawing it out to inspect the colours. This heat was just a normalizing heat, to reduce stresses on the steel. Then drawing it out he would quench the blade and remove it from the tank to straighten it in the few moments the steel was still plastic.
[ 5/6 ]

Once the blade was cooled once more the smith took to mixing ash, clay, and water together to make a clay solution to set over the back of the blade. Keeping the steel on the ridge soft, while making the blade hard and keen, it also set the hamon markings of the blade. The clayed blade would then be thrust into the forge to reach a high temperature before being removed and quenched. One more straightening round would follow, but now all that remained was the last of the whitework and attaching the handle, which was done with ease.
[ 6/6 Special Job: Blacksmithing C-Rank Created a Chakra Steel Katana. ]

With the basic assembly done Masahiro would then set into polishing the blade through the last few rounds it had to accomplish. Working the blade with progressively higher grain files he would take off more and more scale and eventually arrive to the polishing phase.

"Such work for such a decent token."
[ 5/6 ]

Pulling a chisel and a hammer out the Hatake would begin to engrave into the side of the blade. The Emblems of Konoha, the Hatake Clan, and Sunagakure would be etched into the blade with skilled hands. Finishing this job he would flip it over and begin another engraving, this one was simple, the family name, written in traditional kanji.
[ 6/6 Special Job :: Whitesmithing - Rank C, Chakra Steel Katana Complete ]

Holding the blade up to catch the light, the Hatake smiled. He would soon be creating another like it, one to match, one for himself. As now there were two distinct branches of the family and they were bound in honour, it was only right. But it was missing something. The family heirloom, the White Light Chakra Saber, had long been missing. Reaching into his pockets the man withdrew a single marble, it's essence sparkling and popping as he worked it into the blade, where it took whole.

Suddenly the blade sprung to life, white lightning sparkling from its surface as he admired it. New Heirlooms for a new Era.

Grasping for three more pieces of wood, the Hatake began to plan another item. A scabbard for this fine blade. Grabbing a different chisel and a hammer he set them beside the wood, then using the piece of charcoal from before he would lay the blade atop it and mark how it sat.
[ 1/6 ]

Drawing the first side, he set it aside and drew the second half of the wood and began to mark it as well. These markings would become reliefs to create the interior of the scabbard, which he then planned to fill with a thin layer of wax to wick moisture away. Marking the second piece he would set the blade away and reach for his chisel and hammer.
[ 2/6 ]

Setting the point of the chisel into the wood he would begin to hammer meticulously. Punch after punch separating more of the wood from the wooden core. Within minutes the first half of the scabbard was hollowed.
[ 3/6 ]

Running to the second piece he began to punch the chisel down, guiding it along the interior lines until the blade fit within. There was still a fair bit of excess at the end, but that would be filed down in the final states of the project. Grabbing both halves of the scabbard and sandwiching them over the katana, he checked to see how it fit and if it was loose. Satisfied with the limited slip he would then set the blade off to the side once more.
[ 4/6 ]

Setting the halves down he would paint them over with a thin coat of wax, allowing it to dry. Then he would take to filing and roughing down the outer shell of either side to the basic shape of the scabbard, leaving as little excess as possible, while working the opposite side to match.
[ 5/6 ]

Mixing an adhesive compound the Hatake then began to edge the halves of the scabbard together. Sealing them he then pulled out two endcaps for the edges of the scabbard, to test their fit. Then onwards to laquering and varnishing the scabbard to finish it. Allowing time to set, he would then set the collars into their final position, take some material and make a proper tie-off on the scabbard in white thread.

Masahiro would enter the Academia and work his way over to one of the forges, wherein he sparked a flame and beside which he opened his jounin scroll. Drawing kindling and charcoal loose he would begin to ply his trade at the forge. As the flames grew he began to set to work with the iron and more coal, setting vessels for them to work down into steel ingots. Using chakra to imbue and work his materials he worked them quickly, but with a careful hand and eye to make sure he did not overwork the material or pull it before it was readied.

Eyeing the first batch he removed and setting a second group in the forge, Masahiro smiled to himself as he set himself to work once more. Inducing chakra into the iron and carbon content he continued to gently work and agitate the vessels as they sat in the flames. Then moving the first set up into the adjoining forge, swept clean of coal and ash, she broke the vessels exposing the first batch of ingots.
[ 1/1 Rank E Special Job: Creating Chakra Steel Complete: Created x5 Chakra Steel Ingots, consumed 15 iron ore, x5 Charcoal 25/chakra. ]

Repeating the process of the first grouping, Masahiro sets the second batch into the heat sink to clear a bit. Then setting the third group of vessels into the flames he waited for them to come to temperature while cracking open the casing of the first group. Once the steel was exposed and airing, he then turned and began to flow chakra into the newest set upon the flames. Repeating the process was arduous, but not mindnumbingly so.
[ 1/1 Rank E Special Job: Creating Chakra Steel Complete: Created x5 Chakra Steel Ingots, consumed 15 iron ore, x5 Charcoal 25/chakra. ]

A smile met his face as he investigated the hot steel as it came from it's vessel. But then he turned to set in a fourth batch. Mixing the ingredients, setting the vessel, and placing them into the flames. Channeling chakra through the tongs into the vessel and steel within as it formed. Slag rising to the top to join with glass and clay shards put into the vessel. Once the vessels and the material had gotten to temperature he would remove them from the main forge and add in more charcoal to keep the flames roaring.
[ 1/1 Rank E Special Job: Creating Chakra Steel Complete: Created x5 Chakra Steel Ingots, consumed 15 iron ore, x5 Charcoal 25/chakra. ]

Taking a few of the chakra steel ingots from the first batch and pushing them into the flames to begin soaking up heat he waited until they reached the cherry glow once more. Grabbing one with the tongs he took it to the anvil and with a string of accessories began to work it into a sheet, which was then evened and cut down into smaller pieces of an arm harness. Once the first patterns were laid out and cut, he retrieved another of the ingots and repeated the process. This one setting into the pauldron and lames that would make up the upper end of the arm harness. The third would be hammered out and used to create the bicep guard halves.
[ 1/3

Cutting the metal to shape was only the first half of the project. Taking each of the metal plates he had carved out he began to form them, his eyes checking and balancing each piece as he hammered it out into the shape he desired it to be, before setting them in the empty forge to cool. Once he finished the pieces he took them to assemble, bolting them together to hold them in the proper fashion for heat treatment.
[ 2/3 ]

Setting the pieces into the heat treat furnace he waited for them to come to temperature for hardening. His crimson eyes watching the metal go from black to the proper shade of orange. He then took these pieces and dipped them into the quench tank as they rolled through. Pulling them out and checking them for cracks or warping, and pleased to find none, he then set them for their final temper to remove their brittleness.
[ 3/3 Blacksmithing: Special C-Rank: Arm harness Complete (Consists of Vambrace, Upper Arm Guard, and Pauldron built as one unit) ]

He then set to heating another set of ingots in the forge. Using the tongs to turn them and keep the heat even he smirked. Drawing the ingots out he began to work them into sheets, repeating the process of the first set. When they were worked out into sheets he would then mark them and begin to cut the first sheet.
[ 1/3 ]

Setting the second sheet upon the table he would begin to cut it down with the use of a pair of shears, getting the individual pieces drawn out and set by the tool that would be used to dish and raise them. His hands worked them quickly and easily, using the anvil and various stakes or dishes to get them to the proper shapes. Once they were set he began the process of riveting the pieces together, in the proper order and connections.
[ 2/3 ]

From this point he went to the heating and tempering cycle once more. Setting the items first into the heating furnace to bring them up to quenching temper, he then set them into the quench tank to finalize. Once the materials set, he then took them to the forge to begin tempering them back to a decent ductile nature, so that an impact would no longer shatter them, before moving them over to the table with their opposing set.
[ 3/3 Blacksmithing: Special C-Rank: Arm harness Complete (Consists of Vambrace, Upper Arm Guard, and Pauldron built as one unit) ]

Masahiro began to heat even more material and as it soaked, he grabbed a piece of heavy stock paper. Beginning to do several measurements and estimates, he set himself a new set of patterns. Cutting the patterns out he returned to the steel, drawing out out of the flames and beginning to hammer it out into a sheet.
[ 1/3 ]

Taking the sheet to the bench he would begin to carve the patterns into the steel and then moved them over to the cutting table. His hands set quickly to work with the shears, working the metal into the basic shapes that would then round out into the greaves. His eyes settled on the cut out pieces and he moved to round the edges of them with a file, to prevent any cutting/slicing of the wearer inside.
[ 2/3 ]

Hammering the left leg harness into shape was easy enough, it simply took several heatings and a lot of patience. Once the harness was to shape the Hokage took it and began riveting the pieces together before moving them over for final heat and temper. Once the materials were finalized, the Hokage smiled and set them beside the arm harnesses.
[ 3/3 Blacksmithing: Special C-Rank: Left Leg harness Complete (Consists of Sabaton, Greave, and Cuises built as one unit) ]

Then he flipped the patterns over and wrote a small inscription on them to mark that this was the side he now had to work with. Drawing his steel out into sheets he began to mark and file the patterns into them until they were completed. Then over to the shears once more to punch them from the sheet..
[ 1/3 ]

Into the fire to make the metal able to be worked, then to the dishing patterns. Drawing the steel out to shape and deburring the edges again, the Hokage set them into the furnace to heat to critical temperatures. Once they reached the final stage of heating he moved them into the quench tank.
[ 2/3 ]

Pulling the material from the quench there was a single warp in the greave. Setting it into a vise he moved it with his leather clad hands until it was set into place before the martensite set into place. Once the material had set he would let it cool before beginning to descale all of the finished pieces.
[ 3/3 Blacksmithing: Special C-Rank: Right Leg harness Complete (Consists of Sabaton, Greave, and Cuises built as one unit) ]

He would then take 5 more ingots of the chakra steel, leaving two on the cooled forge, and with some spare wire, wrap them together in groups of two and the single spare would be set to heat up in the forge. When they reached a critical temperature the Hokage would remove a pair of wrapped ingots and move them towards the anvil. Turning them so they were vertically stacked he would begin to lightly hammer in such a manner as to forge weld the pieces together. He would then repeat this process with the second pair. Once both were successfully welded they were returned to the flames to take temperature, before being hammered out into a singular sheet each.

Tracing patterns into the steel he would then move to have them cut from the sheets. His hands tracing the lines carefully with the shears as he cleared the lines. Then taking out a file he would begin to deburr the edges of the work and move them towards the dishing stakes.
[ 1/2 ]

Taking the material to the heat, then over into the various dishing stakes the Hatake would round out the points of the armor bowing out the stomach and chest of the armor slightly. He would then take the breastplate and move it to the fluting stake to begin putting intricate work into the chest of the armor. Then working out the faulds and connection between the breastplate and backing plate he would spend a few hours on this particular part of the project. Sighing as he finished it, he would grab some leather strips and begin to cut them down and introduce holes to the material to set attachment points into place.
[ 2/2 Blacksmithing: Special B-Rank: Chakra Steel Cuirass/Faulds comeplete ]

The Hokage then set to work on one final piece, finishing his collection of materials. He drew the last two ingots from the cooled forge as well as one from his personal possessions and set them into the lit forge to begin soaking up heat. Waiting for the metals to take heat he would draw out a few chords of lumber and set them upon the workbench.
[ 1/3 ]

As the ingots took heat he worked them together and drew them from the forge to begin hammering them together, forge welding them together. Once they had been drawn out he began to fold the material, making another pass, then a third, before setting the material into the forge to soak once more. Drawing them to the anvil after a fifth fold he would begin to draw the single billet out until he had roughed in the shape of a new katana.
[ 2/3 ]

Inlaying a variable marble like he had in the blade he made for Ayame, he then began the process of descaling and honing the blade itself. It was complete, aside from the handle and crossguard. These he made separate from the manor he had made Ayame's. The crossguard on his was rounded with the family crest inlaid on both sides. The handle was done in crimson silk with the traditional diamond pattern in the Tsuka-ito.
