I'm actually thinking about doing it this year. I always say I will, then never do.

I've done it twice and won both times. But this year, with all the being sick and meds ******** up my life, and with not having an idea yet (both years, I had an idea at least two months before) I'm not sure if I could manage it.

Post apocalyptic things are almost overdone. Why not go far-future, pioneer style?
I watched Firefly for a while today.

The Reverend Menagerie Post apocalyptic things are almost overdone. Why not go far-future, pioneer style?
I watched Firefly for a while today. I thought about that too (I watched Serenity the other day) but I wouldn't really want to write future-y things. Most things I'm comfortable writing are set in the present-day.
I'm almost leaning towards doing something dystopian-mind-screwy but without the whole post-apocalyptic thing. Also out of my comfort zone but... /shrug

Something dealing with everyday life?
So much better to write something mundane well than the extravagant written poorly. The gift of the Magi comes to mind.

I write to get away from everyday life, though. I honestly can't think of anything more depressing to write. >>

Marshalton I always forget NaNoWriMo is a thing until like mid October. s**t. I usually start forming half-assed ideas around the end of August, but never really start to plan anything until the middle of October (or whenever I notice they've sent me an email reminding me of their existence).

We should have a writing exercise thread! Like everyone posts a word and the word of the person above you has to be in a sentence and you free-write from there for 20 minutes or something. And other such activities.
