Prompt gaia_crown [ PROMPT 2: Raining Invisible Pets ]: There's been some unusual weather this week, but the invisible weather man did report that today, it would be raining invisible dogs and cats. What you didn't expect was that it would also be raining invisible boafoxes, treats, and pretty much every single other minipet. While this is mostly harmless, it sort of sucks to a) Be pelted by any of them b) Step on the poop they leave behind and c) Slowly start to suffocate from a surplus of invisible pets milling around invisibly
It was a point that needed to be mentioned. Asteria didn't watch the weather. She didn't worry about it, she could handle anything that was thrown at her by it. Or so she thought.
So as per any day, she'd gone out to look over her new 'home.' Which meant a nice, peaceful, pleasant flight. That was how it always went, and it was rather refreshing even if it was a touch repetitive at times. She liked it, it was calming and made for a good routine. Something short of practicing the motions hammered into her head from birth to... her arrival in the reserve. Well, even know she took to keeping such things close in mind, but even so she was finding there were other things to do. Because apparently going out and trying to go about their purpose was against the rules around here.
How logical.
Regardless, it merely meant finding distractions. She'd found meeting her fellow horsemen to be one of those when she couldn't find a way to the haunted house to see if any foolish 'hunters' had come to play. Which... also explained part of her reason for her patrol. So many things could be accomplished with a simple glide around the realm. One that was going flawlessly at first.
Until something suddenly smacked into her and sent her plummeting down for a moment before she managed to regain some semblance of control to look around, seeking her foe. What idiot dared to attack a war horsemen in the ai-
THUD! A squeak accompanied the sudden weight, and then another as she felt things slam against her again. Small... fuzzy things. But things that fouled up her wings as they pressed against them, causing her to lose control repeatedly as she worked not to crash land on the ground. There wasn't about to be much luck with that as more and more of the things seemed to keep piling down from above until she literally found herself thudding against the hard earth. Not enough to kill herself thanks to her efforts, but it wasn't pleasant.
That was the ground she landed on, right? "Uhg..." But it did hurt. Any anyone nearby would have heard that cry as she realized she wasn't going to be staying aloft.

That was not the least bit graceful, planned, or dignified. Which hurt her pride more than the bruises she'd gained from crashing into a heap of squeaking creatures would. She had yet to notice the fellow horseman in her fall, so his voice was the first she noticed as another thing smacked into her shoulder with a audible squeak before darting off.
Whoever was at fault for this, they should at least have to suffer the same fate. At least.
Still, she nodded as she shifted to get up, mimicking the action of holding an arm over her head as she worked to rearrange herself and get up, hopping on one foot as she fell something soft and fluffy under her foot give a shriek as she stepped on it. Was that a tail? "Mostly thank you-" It finally registered that he had just seen her less than poetic flight. "...let's agree that didn't happen." Hopefully he'd agree well enough as she carefully looked for a safe spot to put her foot that wasn't occupied.
"Let's find someplace better though, agreed." She added, glancing around for the nearest solid object to hide under, maybe a cave, house... really big tree? ...this was why forests had a downside to a degree. And being new to the region wasn't the best.
"Suggestions?" And then a flinch as one tried to stop it's fall by clawing it's way down her arm. At least it wasn't her face, still the thing got sent flying in another direction by the involuntary jerk of her arm.

"Exactly." The word rolled easily off her lips as she continued to work on taking in her surroundings to seek some form of shelter. She didn't really seem bothered at him drawing closer to shield her against the falling objects, only giving him an amused look. "Eeh? Such a gentleman." She wasn't exactly frail, but having things randomly land on her wings wasn't doing them any good. They were far more delicate than she. She wasn't about to shoot down a kind gesture though, and did offer a small smile. Which faded around the time another minute landed on her opposite side with a squeak.
Brilliant.
Still, she didn't get to dwell on it since her search for safety was soon interrupted by being tugged in one direction suddenly with a few words and little else as they took off toward one side. Her first steps were somewhat stumbled, but she took to keeping stride after regaining her balance from the sudden jerking toward this apparent cave. "That'll do!" It was an exciting enough prospect, minus the fact his looking toward her had caused a mini to the face. She'd probably have to see what she could do to help with that when they reached safety. Then again, maybe he was used to it, he had on less than her so... maybe this happened often?
"You gonna be alright?" Still best to inquire, even as she held her own arm over her head and before her a bit to try and avoid the same thing. Which was just earning her a few more small scratches and loud squeaks as she ran.
