About the Professor:

Landon Price was born in London and remains there to this day. While attending Hogwarts he in Hufflepuff house. Landon is easily approachable and is willing to help any student who needs it so long as they try to help themselves. He also loves to see enthusiasm in the classroom. He used to teach Muggle Studies and now has moved on to teaching all three Flying classes at the school. Landon loves to fly and loves Quidditch quite a bit so if you have the same love for the game and the enjoyment of flying it's safe to say you'll succeed in the class.

About the Class:

The class is taught outside in on the field no matter what the weather. Although there are exceptions. The subject itself taught students about the game of Quidditch as well as some tricks that could prove to be of use on the field the year prior. Now students will learn each position played in Quidditch. It is required that all students learn each spot on the team even if they don't intend to play it long term.

* Class will be held on Friday during Block 2 from 10:00am to 10:45am
* Class is updated in real time each week on Sunday

Rules:

1. Be in class on time - first time I'll let it go after that there will be consequences.
2. Come to class prepared and ready to learn.
3. No horsing around in the sky or on the ground.
4. Listen to instruction, If I tell you to keep your feet on the ground I mean it.
5. Wands are to remain in your bags there's no need for them in this class if I see them I will take them until the end of the class.
6. Pay attention and don't cause disruption during class.
7. Above all else have fun and give it your best shot.

* Any detention resulting from rules broken shall be done in my office.

Please Note:
Each student must attend a minimum of two lessons or face losing house points. Unless reason is given either in the absent thread or through private message. If reason is given it will count as if you were present for that class lesson.

Make Up Assignment(s):
For anyone wishing to make up for missing a lesson or just want extra house points, feel free to write a report on a topic related to the subject and submit it to my office before the end of the year. Anything from the game mechanics, history, equipment, or positions are considered acceptable topics. So long as it is related to Quidditch and/or flying feel free to write about it. (A small paragraph will do.) For third years please try to reflect the class lesson you missed. Example : You missed the Keeper practice therefore your assignment is about the Keeper position.

Landon walked onto the field for his second class of the year. He hoped he could teach the students everything they would need to know to play Quidditch and for some make them into professionals. It was a tough job but someone had to do it. Landon knew just about everything there was to know about Quidditch so it was only fitting for him.

As students started to come onto the field Landon smiled. "Good morning class I hope your first week back has been going well so far. I'm Professor Price your new advanced flying instructor." he told them brightly. "Now since this is my first time teaching all of you I'd like you to tell me your names, houses, and what you'd like to take away from this class." he instructed.

Edajin walked out onto the field, his Cleansweep 11 on his shoulder. He found where the instructor was, but it looked like he was the first one here. No matter. "My name is Edajin Tarot, of Slytherin house," he began, setting his broomstick down quietly. "I enrolled in this class to improve my Quidditch game and explore other positions. Maybe I'll find something I'm better at doing than Chasing."

Landon listened to Edajin’s reason for taking the class. He remembered seeing the boy play the last year and a half. “Well I must say I’ve seen you play. You make a pretty good Chaser, the Slytherin team is lucky to have you.” He complimented. “I admire that you are looking to explore new positions. That kind of outlook is a good thing to have.” He told him. “So for you being one time on the first day and for having such an interest on going outside the position you play I’m awarding Slytherin ten points.” Landon announced.

“Now it just so happens to be your lucky day because today we will be going over the position of Beater.” Landon told Edajin. “So how much do you know about playing Beater?” he asked curiously.

Tilting his head quietly, Edajin thought to put the words together. "... Beaters go after the bludgers.. They hit them with bats to accomplish one of two things: to protect one of their teammates or to attack an opposing teammate." He felt that was an accurate summation of a Beater's job. He had seen Darius and Dominic do it in practice often enough.

"That's correct now let's give it a try shall we." Landon said before handing out beater bats. "All you do is time the swing with the bludger." he instructed. "Now when I release them I want you to give it a try." he added. Releasing the bludgers Landon timed up his shot to demonstrate hitting it out of the park. "Give it your best shoot and keep trying as much as you like." he told Edajin.

Crash heaved a heavy sigh as he hauled down across the pitch with one of the school’s old brooms in his hand. The heavy thud of his footsteps echoed as he crushed the blades of grass with every step until he reached out to where the professor and a single Slytherin were. He thought he was late, but now he was starting to second guess himself. No, he knew he had to be late, so where was everyone? He blinked as he finally slowed down to a halt near them, and then he bent over forward with his hands on his knees, heaving to try and catch his breath. ”I’m here—I’m here! I’m sorry… I’m late…” He gasped between words, his racing heart trying to catch his breath.

Landon looked over at as Crash came and apologized for being late. "I let it slide since it's the first time just don't let it happen again." he told him. "So what might your name be?" he asked Crash as he held out a Beater bat. At least the kid showed up that was better than he could say for the rest of the class. "Today we're learning the position of Beater as I'm sure you know Beaters use these bats to hit Bludgers in an attempt to hit other players or protect their own. So I've asked for you to give it a try. Just line up with the bludger and give it a swing." Landon told him.

Taking the bat as it was passed to him, Edajin nodded and mounted his broom, lifting into the air and hovering a moment while he watched the bludgers zipping around. As the bludger came near, he tried timing his swing to knock the bludger toward one of the wooden targets.

Edajin hit the bludger, but frowned when it just missed the target. He needed to work on his aim. Waiting for his next chance, Edajin swung the bat again, aiming for the target.

Edajin cursed as his swing missed as the bludger knocked right into him, the breath escaping from his lungs painfully. "Damn ball!" he shouted through clenched teeth, one eye open as he waited for the next one. If he let too many of these hit him, he'd be in bad shape.

Sighing quietly, Edajin decided to try again. Gripping the bat in his right hand, he waited for what felt like the right moment and swung, hoping that he would be successful.

He'd managed to make contact with the ball, but his aim was way off again. This was NOT the same as punting a quaffle through the goal posts. Apparently it took a lot more precision to hit something in the right direction using a bat instead of a straight throw. Trajectory, and all that. Well, he would just have to try again. Waiting for his next chance, Edajin reached back and swung hard, trying to manipulate the angle so that the ball would fly straight.

Edajin smirked a bit, pleased when the bludger finally hit home and smashed into the wooden target. Good. A 25% success rate. He might not be able to do better than that, but as long as he was here, he might as well try. Aiming his bat, he swung out at the next bludger that came his way.
