Celestia's eyes widened at the unexpected contact of hoof to hands and the ensuing torque. Her wings kept open as she realized what was happening, hoping to lessen the momentum, but it generally failed. When she was propelled towards her niece, she flapped her wings enough to glide above and miss the jackal, but it also served to speed her own decent as she headed towards the ground behind. Her arms reached up to cover her face as she made impact, her body continuing into a roll past.

By the time she slowed to a stop, there were numerous cuts and scrapes along her forearms, knees, and wings. It hurt really badly; she wasn't used to pain of any sorts.

Looking on, she slowly pushed herself back up and onto her feet. Giving up wasn't something she was known to do; the princess would have been dead long ago if that was the case. At the same time, though, she was becoming aware of the technical difference between this child and the two of them. How could one so young have such abilities?

The movement was so swift, Moonlight was only saved by the actions her aunt took to sabotage her own landing. Yelping in surprise, the jackal had to scramble to the side, startled by the sight of the alicorn flying through the air in her direction. She escaped unscathed, but her aunt was far from being as lucky. She glanced over at her fallen family member, red touching her vision as she whirled back on the angel with an angry snarl, fangs bared.

She placed herself protectively between her aunt and the angel, legs braced wide and ready to spring. She just needed an opening. She was through messing around; this was a threat and in intruder to her territory as far as she was concerned and she was ready to do some damage. That earlier bite would be the least of the angel's worries, as far as Moonlight was concerned.

Lailah snickered, though it was disappointing that her effort had missed. Still, that took one target down, if temporarily, and left her with just the mutt to deal with. Narrowing her eyes and fixing on the pendant hanging around the canine creature's neck, she beckoned the beast forward with a taunt: "Come on, puppy. Let's play."

She was furious, had no real battle experience, and her aunt was lying hurt behind her. Moonlight wasn't thinking clearly as she answered the taunt with a snarl, dashing forward. Obviously, this had taken her foe by surprise, as she only responded by raising her shield arm to block, but had forgotten the shield that she'd summoned earlier. The jackal's jaws opened wide as she leapt, clamping down hard around the angel's forearm. The taste of blood once more filled her mouth, driving her into a frenzy. Growling, she shook her head, attempting to worry the cursed angel's arm...when suddenly, she let out a muffled yelp and her grip began to falter, her form going slack...

Grimacing at the pain, Lailah slowly withdrew her blade from the creature's side. The blade was covered in blood, but what she was wincing at was the creature's weight still hanging from her arm. Before it's grip completely released, she brought her blade up under the pendant cord and quickly cut it as the dog-thing fell away from her, limply hitting the ground. "Stupid mutt," she spat, snatching the coin from the ground by her feet. She glared down at the creature...it was still breathing, moving feebly. It would be so easy to just finish it off...let her blade bathe in blood once more...the exchange had taken only seconds...what was a few more...?

With a sneer, Lailah quickly wiped the blade on the creature's fur instead, tucking it and the coin beneath her cloak. No time, as satisfying as that would be. This was already enough of a debacle, time to cut and run. She pondered saying something in closing...but that was the way of fools. Besides, what would she say? These heathens were too far gone to be converted or saved in her mind. Instead, she wrapped the cloak around herself, swiftly wrapping one edge around her mangled arm as she fled into the shadows.

Weakly, the fallen jackal tried to follow, but she was in no condition to pursue. By the Earth, the pain! She wanted to shift back, irrational fear and pain leading her to think that if she just turned into a Faun again, she'd be fine. Some instinct may have saved her though, as she shifted her efforts from following her attacker to dragging her fallen form into the full moonlight. She was leaving a blood trail in her wake, but it may have felt worse than it really was. Considering how it hurt, that wasn't saying much. If she could just stop the bleeding, she'd be fine, right?

Right, Aunt 'Tia?

...right?

There is a saying that no parent should have to watch their child die before them, but it fails to properly express the full emotion in seeing one you care about so deeply become gravely hurt before your eyes. It doesn't capture the loss of feeling from your limbs, the breath caught in your throat, the silencing of your world save for the sound of your quickened heartbeat, the nausea bubbling from the pit of your stomach. It can't describe the immense emotional flurry of shock, despair, and guilt threatening to consume you, nor the way your body seems to move on its own despite all of this. There are no words for how time seems to slow, as if your very conscious is disconnected from the situation, as if your mind is trying to trick you into believing it is all but a dream.

It cannot hope to put into perspective how the warmth of their blood tingles on your fingertips, how vibrantly its color stands out in the moonlight.

Lifting the figure with strength she wouldn't have if not for the adrenaline, the princess looked around desperately for someone, anyone around. Everything was numb except where the tears overflowed down her cheeks, hitting the matted fur below, or where the blood of the canine came down in tendrils of red across her shaking arms.

"Somebody..." her voice was soft, catching in her throat and beneath her tears. Keeping to the moonlight, she began to jog towards the tree, her own wings dragging behind her. Her voice was louder, shrill, calling out to the darkness. "Please, somebody! Anybody!"

"Help us! Please...!"

"...please..."

Just save my niece. I beg you.

As she was lifted, the jackal let out a pitiful whine from the jarring movement, but once held, quieted again. The light of the moon was doing its work, but unfortunately, there was a lot of work to do yet, and though it might have been trying to stop the bleeding primarily, it was doing little for the pain.

She'd never been seriously hurt in her life. Sure, like any kid, especially a tomboy like Moonlight, she'd taken her share of tumbles and scrapes growing up. Never anything remotely like this. She'd never even considered how much pain a Faun could take when she'd launched herself into the fight. All she'd thought was that the cheeky angel had hurt her and her aunt and needed to pay.

Perhaps she'd be the one to pay the price instead for her foolishness.

A slight haze settled over her mind and her senses, dulling the pain as well as her thoughts. Through it, she could hear the panic in her aunt's voice. Shifting only slightly, she nuzzled her arm weakly as if to reassure her, then slumped tiredly again.

Nestled in the long grass, the lupine Faun reclined with his hands under his head, staring up at the night sky. The moon above shone brightly on the land below, the stars twinkling peacefully to keep it company in the vast blue canvas. Not that he was quite so descriptive in his own mind. His thoughts were generally focused on how quiet it was out here away from everyone as the day wound to an end, and basically, how pretty it was out here.

All the more startling when a sharp scream shattered the tranquility.

He sat bolt upright, sharp ears pricking forward at the sound. It wasn't just a scream, though it was shrill...there were words...but what...

Help...

He didn't recognize the voice or any other words at this distance, but that was enough. He leapt to his paws, taking off a sprint towards the sound. Somewhere towards the path to the bridge...he turned that way and just ran, no thought for who it might be or why.

Even in the darkness, the white alicorn Fauny was difficult not to recognize. As he grew closer, Ranuin called out to her in a deep tone, meant to carry long distances. "Princess Celestia? What's wrong?" It didn't take him long to realize what was wrong as he neared. His eyes widened, looking from the fauny's injuries, to the bleeding canine in her arms. "Moony!" He started to reach for her, then hesitated. What was he going to do? He had no idea what to do with something this serious.

But the healers back at Laisidhiel would.

Making a quick decision, he withdrew his hand and took a step back. "We need to get her...both of you back to the Tree. Give me just a second, I can get you both back faster than you can on hoof. You'll just have to hold onto her, okay?" He started to move away, then looked back and added, "Oh, and...don't be afraid, okay?" A sheepish grin flickered across his face for a moment before it gave way to concern once more. He was pretty sure that Moony's aunt had never seen his shift before...but this was no time to worry, only hope she would trust him to help.

Unlike Moony's shift where she grew smaller as she changed, Ranuin's form started to lengthen and put on bulk as he fell forward onto all fours. His hands changed into paws, matching his feet, and his fur grew thicker and shaggier. When he finished changing, a massive wolf, easily longer than Celestia was tall, and definitely heavier, turned his dark eyes on her. They focused on the bundle in her arms and the large beast let out a pitiful whine. He stepped forward to nudge her gently (for him), then turned and nodded his head upwards towards his shoulders. The thick fur there should be easy to hold onto, though Celestia would also need to keep Moony steady. It wouldn't be the easiest task, but if she could do that, he could carry them back to Laisidhiel faster than they could run as Faun...especially with two injured.

The princess turned at the sound of an approaching pae, her ears flicking as she strained her eyes to look. That voice... "Ranuin, is that you?!" she yelled back, the distress still clear in her voice, to him as the form began to clarify before her. "It's Moonlight..." Though she had some notable injuries of her own, the adrenaline in her blood was serving well to numb the pain, allowing her to focus all of her energy on the canine in her arms. For now at least.

"...W-we were attacked... She's been stabbed..." Looking up to him, her eyes pleading. "Moonlight is badly hurt" The canine was shaking as a result of her arms, if only slightly, as she watched him move. She, too, mimicked the motion as he began to change, noting in the back of her mind the similarity to Moonlight's own transformation, but not thinking particularly heavily on it.

The princess nearly stumbled over and fell as a result of the nudge, more so due to her own weakness at the moment than an overuse of his strength. When she again looked, she noted his motioned and nodded in turn.

Ouch... Moving her head... it hurt...

It would seem that the hormones were beginning to wear off. Carefully moving to sit herself on his shoulders (or wherever she was mean to be sitting), she looked down to her arms as she shifted the girl's body's weight and took hold of his fur.

So many... There were so many deep cuts and harsh scrapes along the arms from when she had covered her face while rolling, most of the white on it either stained red from the pair's blood, brown from the dirt, or black from bruising. When she sat, only one wing folded up properly behind her, the other hung limply to the wolf's side, out of her control. The condition of the rest of her body was concealed to her knowledge due to the lingering hormones and the lack of vision.

"Let... Let us hurry. Please."

Ranuin waited only long enough to make sure that Celestia and Moony were securely settled on his back before taking off. Speed was the priority, but he did try to keep his strides as smooth as possible to prevent further jarring. Gotta' go, gotta' get home...get home safe, get help...the thoughts echoed in his mind, remaining simple instructions that he'd held onto tightly as he'd shifted earlier.

The scents from those on his back spoke of friends, family...but also of danger, harm...the coppery scent tickled his nostrils, driving him to further speed. The dire wolf practically flew over the land, the earth seeming to pass beneath his feet rather than he over it. As far out as they'd been, the Tree soon loomed over them. He slowed only briefly before plunging forward again, long enough to lift his voice on the wind for a low, piercing howl, then breathing was focused on keeping running.

They neared the gate and as he slowed, he lifted his voice again, more insistently now, the howl rising in pitch and volume. The night shift at the gates had emerged, curious about the disturbance. Ranuin had halted, crouching low to the ground so that Celestia could climb down with Moony, then once they were clear, had started shifting back to his normal form.

"Call the healers!" he shouted to the guards as soon as he had a voice that could form words again. "Get Lady Vanya, please! We have injured!" One of the guards took a single look at the Fauny princess and took off running into the Tree. More and more were appearing at Laisidhiel's entrance, having heard the wolf's chilling howl echoing through the Tree.

Ouch... Ouch... Ouch...

Each time the wolf's paws hit the ground, there was a moment of impact where she had to make sure that her nice remained unmoved, her hands held on tighter, and the cuts were pressured ever so slightly. She flinched at the initial howl, startled, but soon her mind was focusing only his shoulders and little past it.

She had not noticed when they'd reached the gate except for his slowing and stopping. Getting down was more difficult than climbing on had been, likely more due to her growing awareness of her own injuries than anything else. A stubborn pae she was, though, and she continued to hold the canine despite the pain and the persistent shaking in her arms. Moonlight was the priority right now, not her.

Looking to the guard, there was a newly found weariness in the gaze she held,

Vanya...? Oh... her friend, Vanya... if not for the situation at hand, she might have been glad to see her again.

Looking to Ranuin, she waited to make eye contact before continuing to walk forward.

Ranuin turned towards the princess, preparing to reach for his friend, then halting and wrapping a supporting arm around the princess' shoulders instead. Of course she'd probably not allow him to take her...so, he'd just have to help keep both of them moving towards the Tree. "Come on, princess, almost there," he tried to sound reassuring, though he kept shooting worried glanced down at Moonlight, then back to the scrambling Faun at the entrance of the Tree. Her advanced healing had stopped as soon as they'd left the full light of the moon for the shade of Laisidhiel's branches. He hadn't wanted to give up that aid, but he'd needed to get her back to more expert healers as soon as possible.

He'd have known that howl anywhere. What had he told the boy about howling and making a fuss? It upset the other Faun in the Tree when he did that so close to home. Faroth had already been preparing a lecture for when Ranuin got home when he heard the second howl from just outside the Tree. That was no accident.

Something in the tone of the howl had him rushing from his alcove and heading down to the main floor. He wasn't the only one heading for the door, and in passing, he heard someone shout for healers. Healers? Why? What had happened? Panic fueling his steps, he rushed for the great archway and looked beyond outside.

Ranuin was relieved to hear that the healers had been notified and that Lady Vanya was preparing for their arrival. "Alright, just a little further," he muttered to Celestia, still looking down at the canine cradled in her arms. What had happened? All he knew what was Celestia had told him, that they'd been attacked and Moony had been stabbed. Why? By whom? If he'd been there...was there something he could have done?

"Celestia!"

Ranuin looked up at the familiar voice, seeing his father rushing towards them. Even though he was an adult in his own right, the instinctual relief washed over him at his father's arrival. He'd make sure everything was taken care of...everything would be fine. "Dad! Moony's hurt bad," he explained.

"Bring her inside! The healers are waiting!"

Ranuin looked up sharply at the call from inside, then back down to Moony in concern. He could rush her ahead, but...what about Celestia? He could get Moony to the healers quicker, but...the princess needed care too. He wasn't sure in her state if she'd even allow him to take his friend from her. He started to reach for the jackal, then hesitated.

Faroth had stepped to Celestia's other side, taking over in supporting her. Seeing the indecision strike, and taking in the scene at a glance, he frowned. "Take her," he said firmly to Ranuin. "Get her to the healers now. We'll be close behind."

Seemingly jarred from his hesitant state, Ranuin reached to carefully take Moony from Celestia's arms. "Don't worry...I promise, I'll take good care of her," he assured, dark eyes fixed on hers for a moment. Then, they flicked downwards towards the canine he cradled against his chest. His paws were soon carrying him off into the Tree.

Faroth watched him go, then turned back to the princess. "I'm sorry if I overstepped my bounds, but you can blame me. Don't worry though...that boy cares for her like a sister. He won't let anything else happen to her," he reassured, eyes tracing her own injuries with concern. He continued guiding her towards the Tree, quietly wondering...was that her blood...or the girl's?

"I'm no healer, but...let's get you cleaned up first, then maybe the healers will have taken care of Moonlight and you can go next, hmm?" He'd have offered to carry her honestly, but he couldn't tell the extent of her injuries. The way her wing was hanging limply was concerning. He couldn't bare the thought hurting her worse.

Most of the gathered Faun had either followed after Ranuin and Moony, or had fallen back to watch and whisper quietly from a distance. Unable to hold back any more, Faroth noted no one in hearing distance as he leaned in and whispered, "'Tia...what the hell happened to you two out there?"

Ranuin was right in his thinking that the princess would not be so keen to give away her niece, even to him. Right now, it was the only thing keeping her going despite the growing pain an weakness. It hurt...

Everything hurt...

When the boy had touched her shoulder, she almost lurched away from him. Had there been a bruise there that she hadn't noticed? Well... It wouldn't have been the only thing that escaped her attention in the moment, anyhow. She didn't turn away the support, though, as it helped to reassure her that there were others around that could help. Others that could save Moonlight. If nothing else, he was guiding her while her eyes drifted in an out of focus; damned be this headache! Spirits help her Moonlight was the priority and until she was secure, nothing else mattered. Nobody was going to lay a hand on her unless that was assured.

At the sound of a familiar voice, though, her eyes lifted and looked around, a weak smile coming to her lips. "Faroth...?" she asked under her breath, almost not believing it. Of course he would come to her aid; he always did.

As her head turned slightly to catch sight of him taking over in supporting her, her eyes widened as she felt the pressure released from her arms and she instinctively reached towards Ranuin, grabbing for Moonlight. Celestia's eyes reflected her concern and her reluctance to trust anypae with Moonlight's safety.

Likely, this would have included the healers if she had been the one to bring her forward.

Biting her lip, the princess looked away as Faroth talked, feeling ashamed of how she had probably been unreasonable in trying to protect Moonlight on her own. She had been so foolish; this was all her fault. If they had just left the situation...

Could this have all been prevented?

Rather than answer anything he was saying, she just walked beside him. Everything hurt, her arms, her head, her knees... and the guilt was weighing her down emotionally. Not raising her eyes to meet his own, she answered quietly. "We were attacked by an angel... A young one. Female. White and red." As they walked, the fading adrenaline started to make her cuts more and more noticeable, accumulating in an increasing limp on the same side as the limp wing.

The surprise was plain to see on Faroth's face. They had been attacked...by another Pae'il? The Faun had always had to worry about natural dangers in their environment, but...other Pae'il? Not in modern times. He'd been worried that something had come from the south maybe like before, but this...? He didn't want to believe it could be true...yet...

The princess' increasingly uneven gait pulled his thoughts back to her condition and he winced in sympathetic pain. Shifting to that side, he muttered, "Come on...lean on me," attempting to make use of himself as a crutch of sorts for support on that side. Again, the urge to carry her instead was strong, but he didn't want to make things worse. Better to just get her to somewhere she could rest as quickly, and safely, as possible. Aside from a few lingering, wide-eyed Faun keeping to themselves, most had either followed to the healers or been dispersed back to their alcoves to discuss what they'd seen this evening and puzzle over what had really happened. Faroth's attention was completely focused on the woman in his care. "Hey," he nodded towards one of several fountains located around the base of the Tree once inside. "Come on, sweetheart...if you can make it to the bathing fountain, I'll take care of you for now." Not that he knew much about healing...between himself and raising his son, sure, he could handle cleaning and caring for simple scrapes and bruises, but her more serious injuries would be better viewed by the Tree's healers. They'd more than have their hands full with the Adviser's daughter at the moment though. The least he could do was help her get clean and see how bad her injuries really were. Issues like her wing, well...he wouldn't have any idea where to start.

Faroth lead her to the closest bathing fountain, gingerly helping her to take a seat. He moved to grab some clean washing cloths, kneeling and dunking one in the cool water before he rose again, turning a worried look towards Celestia. "Alright, hon, just relax, 'k? You can tell me what happened when you're ready." Maybe he was laying on the endearing terms a bit thick...but when he'd first seen Celestia and her injured, shifted niece, a sort of panic had gripped his heart. He was still somewhat shocked and bewildered as to what in the Earth had happened out there to them both.

Taking the cloth, he wrung it out a bit, then reached for Celestia's cheek, wiping away the tear trails and dirt tenderly. "There we go...better, yeah?" he said with a forced smile.

Her eyes glanced up to see his reaction when she briefly told him the source of their injuries. It was expected. Of course Faroth wouldn’t want to think it was possible; even she had earnestly hoped such a thing was left to the past generation.

That clearly wasn’t true.

What was wrong with her head? Why did it hurt so? Throbbing and dizzying her vision with each step… it was beginning to wear on her patience. His voice brought her eyes back up and forward towards the indicated fountain. She hadn’t even been aware of them dropping again, nor had she been keenly aware of how far they walked. Sweetheart, though? In most other situations, the princess would have become flustered at the ease he used such sweet nothings, but here it did little for her worsening mood.

Could you hardly expect her to be progressing in another way, though, given the circumstances? The pain was ever-growing, her niece was dangerously hurt, and everyfaun and their mother was spreading rumors around the tree about it.

And now her words weren’t being believed.

As Celestia sat in the spot Faroth had led her to, a hand raised up to rub her forehead. Just the motion seemed to ache. In this motion, she glared at him and slowly repeated herself, her tone strained. “We were out for a walk in the moonlight when an angel ambushed us.

Her gaze faltered momentarily as an eye closed against the cool feeling of the washcloth on her cheek. “Is it better; I am unaware myself?” As much as she wanted to cry from the pain, the apprehension lingering about Moonlight’s condition and her frustration with her uselessness and the immediate situation was presenting itself instead in the form of irritation.

Taken aback by her hostile tone, Faroth paused in his efforts and pulled away for a moment with a frown. "I...I don't know..." he stammered, too surprised to come up with another placating statement for the moment. He wasn't used to such hostility from Celestia, even if he supposed the situation excused it...didn't mean he knew how best to respond. He understood that she was upset and concerned for her niece...but she was in the hands of the Tree's healers now. What more could they do but wait and let them work? What did she expect him to do?

"...sorry, I was just trying to help," he muttered by way of apology, turning to rinse the cloth in the water and wring it out again. Maybe he'd better just shut up; he wasn't helping apparently. Not anything he was saying was helpful at least. He reached for her hand, gently lifting her arm to start washing the mixture of mud and blood away to get a clear look at the injuries below. Something about this was still bothering him...well, aside from the obvious, of course. All he had of the story was that some young angel attacked them. But...why?

He should keep his mouth shut. She was hurt and scared and upset and everything he said seemed to only make things worse. But, the more he turned the limited info over in his mind, the more it bothered him. The grime was slowly washed away from the brilliant white fur beneath...and the dark bruises already forming that made him frown even deeper. Finally, he shook his head slightly. "I don't get it...why? She just...attacked for no reason? There has to be a reason... Did she say anything?"

Seeing Faroth reel back from her comment only served to agitate her further. Was that really so surprising that out of all the angels on the island, one of them might have held hostility to the faun? Really? Really? When he apologized, there was little reaction from her face, though her eyes did follow him.

Part of her wanted to just be rid of him for the moment and let her handle herself.

Then he began to clean the cuts.

The princess's body flinched each time the cloth's surface and the water came to brush over the scrapes, bruises, and cuts of her arm. On the undersides of her forearms, there were some particularly deep ones from the last time she had fallen; pieces of rock and the bases of thorns could still be seen in and among those and the smaller ones, not to mention the lovely assortment of bruises. The intensity and frequency of injuries lessened near the shoulders.

Spirits help her, he was back on that! When Celestia again spoke, her tone was quieter than before, almost hushed even, and the strain was gone. Perhaps, though, it sounded more dangerous this way. "She wanted one of our protection talismans and attacked us from behind." A careful, measured look to him. "Does that constitute a proper enough motive to justify her actions for you? Or are you in need of more circumstantial evidence so that you might figure out her pure intentions?"

Celestia was a patient faun, but even her patience could wear thin at times.

A protection talisman? That dramatic a response...for a mere coin? It seemed extreme and somewhat illogical, but it was a reason, he supposed. However, reasoning this mystery out was to be put on hold as Celestia continued. Faroth's ears drooped lower, laying back as if the sharp words had been a physical blow.

He didn't back down as before this time though. He got that she was hurt and upset, sure...but that was no reason to lash out at him for trying to help. Expression set in a narrow-eyed frown, he glanced up from what he was doing to meet her eyes. "Don't be ridiculous, 'Tia. I'm not trying to justify anything that happened. I'm just trying to understand. There's a difference. I wasn't there, so I asked what happened. That's all. I'm just having a hard time understanding why a stranger would just...come out of nowhere and attack if not for some reason. Pae rarely do things with no reason at all behind their actions, even if we may not understand those reasons exactly. I know I'm kinda' slow, but I get that much," he bit back, dropping his eyes to her arm.

Noting the thorns and debris in one of the deeper cuts, he realized it would have to be carefully removed to cleanse the wound properly. He also knew that the current conversation was not exactly beneficial to such delicate work, if he was even capable of it normally. Growing frustrated, he released her arm and turned towards the water with the intention of washing out the cloth while trying to retain some level of calmness with his increasingly irrational girlfriend. He focused intently on washing the cloth out, watching the blood and dirt float into the water and disappear, willing his frustration to do the same.

After a moment, he took a deep breath and sighed, reaching up to shove some hair out of his face with the back of his hand. "Look...what do you want from me? I'm not a healer, I can't help much there," he said, glancing in the direction that Ranuin had fled to meet the healers. "...so I'm trying help you here. Apparently that's not what you want. I'm no warrior either, but the only other thing I can think is that you want me to go out into the night hunting some mysterious angel to get revenge or something. I'll be blunt, I'm not planning on doing that either. I'm trying to help the only way I can imagine how. If that's not enough, if I'm on the wrong track completely here, then how about you tell me what it is you want me to do then?" His voice was quiet with a touch of exasperation. He was worried too, but he was trying to push that aside to use his energy on something productive. Why was she so upset with him?

"If you are able to understand, then you would be the first. Not all that happens presents itself in a way that our rational can make sense of." Her voice was growing in volume ever so slightly. "Why did she choose such a barbaric method using violence rather than words? Am I meant to know that? She threatened us, and we protected ourselves to the extent of our limited abilities."

Watching him go, she barely had time to think and calm herself. Deep breaths.... ouch, those hurt... Careful counting... 1... 2... 3... This attitude was not helping, and she knew it. Faroth was just trying to help the situation in the best way that he could, but he just kept saying all the wrong things at all the wrong moments... She really ought to calm down.

But, then he crossed the metaphorical line with his last comment.

Glaring at him, she placed her hands together, a palm on top of the others outside. Her words were firm, yet soft. Controlled. Almost a growl, even. "If you think so little of me... if you think I would be so petty a faun to concern myself with something as useless as revenge, of all possible notions, while one of my family is in such a a state..." she quieted, silently returning inside of herself, putting the walls back up, hiding all physical indicators of the emotions she felt. Taking a deep breath, she put on that smile of hers that she always held around other faun. Even her voice was the same as if she were speaking to any other pae at any given time: calm and warm, yet firm and proud. But... there was something different about it from usual, even if to others she appeared the same.

Her eyes were cold, icy.

"I think it would be best if you go. I thank you for your help, but I believe I shall be fine now."
