Ice-Cold Hunter

Wings stretched out behind the war chieftain as she let out a yawn, resting languidly in a tree close to the edge of those that surrounded the haunted house. She had been there for hours now, lying in wait for yet another white coat to come wandering out of those massive doors set in a warped wooden frame. Her last encounter with a hunter hadn't discouraged her at all from her course, but instead made her want to find another to contend with even more, like a fire that burned bright within her, consuming all else.

A small dagger that had been sheathed at her hip was drawn, and she was currently utilizing it as a tool for cleaning beneath her nails as she waited, knowing full well that one might never appear, and that perhaps there were more productive ways to spend her time waiting for her back in the lost clans camp.

But she didn't care about any of that. Not when Medea had given them the permission to go out and kill humans again, to collect there Fear. And Shaheen so did love a challenge. Who better to attempt to collect Fear from then the most disgusting of the human race of all, but the hunters themselves?

And so she continued to wait, with patience that could stretch into eternity.

Ripley had never been to the Haunted House before.

When it appeared on his list of duties for the day he was perplexed; they had to patrol a house? One specific house? He had to ask someone about it, and from there he learned the gist of it: it was a portal of sorts that connected to halloween. It made sense then, and then he had been oddly excited to see it; after all, aside from the fire demon, the titans and the giant bugs he hadn't really seen any creatures.

So he went on a rather uneventful patrol, looking through strange room after strange room, and eventually made it to a wide set of warped doors. Nothing about it told him that it would take him outside; it looked just like another set of doors he had seen not too long ago. He only assumed it would lead him to another room, and was quite surprised to open it to see a lawn, and trees, and a pathway.

"Interesting." He muttered to himself, taking the steps one cautious foot at a time. Something out here felt strange, and it even had Wilhelm on high alert; but he couldn't see anything obvious that would cause it. "...Hello?" He called, trying to sound non-threatening for the time being.

If Shaheen hadn't already been acutely aware of a hunters sudden presence as the large doors were pushed open and a man in a white coat had stepped out, then she likely would have been tipped off by his shouting.

Idiot.

The war chieftain had no idea if anything else lurked in the woods with her, but she honestly wouldn't have been surprised to see some horror pop out and try to eat the hunter who had announced his arrival in such loud tones. Baring that in mind, she stepped off of her tree branch and fell to the ground, landing in a half crouch before walking towards the edge of the trees, and out into the clearing in front of the Haunted House.

Normally she would have just attacked right away without pause, but this one was quite obviously, by both the way he held himself by shuffling out and his loud voice, an amateur. So instead, she simply walked, her wings folding in behind her, her hands empty of any weapons as her dagger was put back in the sheath at her hip, the sword at her back likely not even visible and her two other weapons left unsummoned for now.

"Hello." She smiled, though it somehow didn't quite fit with her face, as though she had no experience in giving genuine smiles at all, and would look more appropriate with a sneer instead. Insanity markings swirled across tanned skin, and her eyes fairly glowed from within the darkness of her sclera, and a grey mist seemed to wisp away from the tips of her wings.

"You look lost. Can I help you?" Voice too sweet, but maybe he was dumb enough to fall for the ruse.

There it was, the reason for the discomfort. She looked fairly human if it weren't for the eyes and the wings, and that was what most unsettled him: every creature he had seen thus far, save for perhaps the ghosts he used to talk to in the prep room at work, didn't look very human at all. This one looked very human, in an intricate costume. His gaze even lowered, absently doing a once-over of her lovely curves before he realized, and stopped immediately.

That was awkward.

"No, thank you." He offered first, his grip on Wilhelm tightening. His mission was to patrol, but what happened after that? Tell her to leave? Try to fight her? Perhaps he should have asked more questions while he had the chance. "You shouldn't be here." He said, deciding it was important to say. "What can I do to convince you to go back to where you came from?"

She shook her head, shorter lengths of blonde, slightly curled hair moving around her face, though the rest was like a caps of golden streaked with grey behind her. "No. This is exactly where I should be." She smiled at him, just the slightest upturning of her lips, before it grew into a smirk.

"It's you that shouldn't have come here, hunter." She spat out the last word like it was filthy, and left a bad taste in her mouth. "And yet still more of you come, like ants parading towards a picnic, completely unaware of the massive boot about to crush you." Her facial expression changed then, twisting into an ugly snarl.

"Insects. All of you worthless insects. I will be the one to destroy you!" A blade that appeared in her hand began to glow, bright, and brighter still, until it was nothing but a white hot light, blinding to gaze upon.

And then she darted foward, wings folding in tightly behind her, driving her blade home towards its target with a Fear imbued slash of her blade.

Ripley was amazed at how quickly her thinly veiled sweetness turned into pure, radiating hostility. His blood ran cold as she uttered threat after threat, but he said nothing at first; what was there to say? She knew they'd keep coming, and this was his first real interaction with the enemy. He didn't dare put his focus onto witty retorts; all he could hear in his mind was Otto's advice: Don't die.

The woman's words faded into the distance as his gaze caught the way her blade began to glow. It heated up to white hot quickly, and the Trainee froze, his memory fading back to a time where a similar light had taken everything from him. It was a shock, and he couldn't move. He recognized that he was in danger, that he had to move, but-

< RIPLEY! > Wilhelm screamed at him, shaking him free from his memories just in time. The trainee tried to knock the blade away, and although his attempted block came too late, it came just in time to stop her attack from piercing through his heart. Instead her white-hot blade sank deep into his shoulder, drawing a sharp cry of pain from his throat. It was, however, hot as painful as he imagined it would have been, and he assumed he had Wilhelm to thank for that.

"What is it with you creatures and insects?" He uttered, belatedly, and attempted to surge forward to return the favour, his grip on Wilhelm's hilt clumsy thanks to his new wound.

Shaheen took a step back when he struck out at her, the slice of his blade barely registering, a large and wild grin plastered across her face. "You are one of the weak ones." She hissed, then laughed, her blade dulling once more to plain steel. "Like that woman known as Infinity. She is one of the weak ones too. Oh but this is going to be fun...if not a little short lived for my tastes."

Her blade disappeared for the moment, and she began to circle him, eyes locked on his, her movements almost predatory.

"Creature?" She laughed again. "Is that what you would call us? The horsemen of the apocalypse, the undoing of your kind." She shrugged off his insect comment, and suddenly the blade was flashing in her hand once more, this time glowing a dull yellow as she forced her Fear into it again.

"Fine then, how about cattle? Nothing more then meat, made for the slaughter!" She lunged at him again, beating her wings furiously and bellowing out a mighty war cry before thrusting the blade forward in a two handed grip, this time aiming for the middle of his stomach.

Ripley frowned. Of course he was weaker than he should have been; he had no weapon experience before this, never fought before now, and, more importantly, she had put a hole through his shoulder. His self-inflicted vow of silence was broken when she said a name he recognized: Infinity. Fini? She had attacked Fini?

"What did you do to her?" He asked through clenched teeth, though he knew the answer; he hadn't seen the silver haired girl lately, and now began to fear the worst. Was she recently attacked? Did she land in the infirmary without his knowing? Did she...? No.

Besides that, he had no idea what the Horsemen were. He was still trying to figure out Halloween, but apparently the Horsemen were also real? He had always imagined they were biblical bull, though then again, he thought Halloween was just a holiday before this. His wound was beginning to throb a little harder now, and he had no idea what to say back to her; any quip he had he foresaw getting shot down due to his current status and his less than desirable attacks. Silence, he decided, was the best option. Thankfully he didn't need to focus on her words as he noticed she was gearing up for another attack.

Ripley swung Wilhelm again, trying to knock her blade aside once more to again avoid the mass of damage to his core. The monochrome sword knocked against the attacking yellow blade, but like the first one it wasn't enough to avoid it completely; it tore through his clothing and flesh, embedding deep into the side of his abdomen. He gave another cry as pain exploded behind his eyes, blanking out his vision for a fraction of a second. The Trainee stumbled backwards, hissing as her blade pulled free from his body. His side began to feel incredibly warm, and he didn't need to look to understand that he was now bleeding.

s**t. He was in way over his head.

< Port out, Ripley. If she hits you like that again, we're done. > Wilhelm warned, his voice ringing with urgency. Weakness was setting in, and he wasn't sure how to deal with it. He wasn't prepared for this outcome, and though Wilhelm had told him what to do, he was blanking.

<Port out now! >

His swing glanced off of her arm, but did nothing to stop the attack that she sent barreling into him. No amount of pain could have stopped one as practiced at armed battle, one who lived and breathed only for this, for the sound of steel ringing on steel and for the scent of human blood that now tainted the air. As disgusting as he was, that smell was delicious, and she was practically purring when she stepped back again, her blade disappearing once again as she reached back, pulling free a new blade from a sheath at the middle of her back, one that gave off wisps of fog to match that which twirled through the air from the tips of her wings.

"I only gave her what she deserved, and will deal out more to her with time. She has become...well, lets just say I have taken a very personal interest in her." Another smile, though nowhere near as sweet as what she had been giving him previously, when she had only been toying with him. "But I won't play favorites. You will get the very same treatment that she received. That so many others have received at the end of my blade." She held the sword in a two handed grip, watching him carefully, knowing that at any moment, he could pull out the pendant that would take him home.

If he had been smart, he would have done it the moment she had emerged from the woods.

"You will let her know that Shaheen sends her regards, won't you?" She whispered, her face suddenly going stony, completely blank, as in that very instant, she decided she would let this one live, if only to spread and sow the seeds of chaos, to let all the of the others know.

The horsemen were coming. They had a vendetta to fulfill.

And she wanted them to fear her name long before that moment arrived.

With one final cry she slashed out at him with a blade that cut through the air, and through his shield as though it was butter. She would let him live, but she would not let him go unmarked.
