Be not troubled

In our culture it has a bad ring. To most people it means doom, and destruction. The end of the world, and everything in it. Either by natural disaster, or divine punishment. Utter devastation, beyond redemption. What does Apocalypse mean to us Christians? It is God revealing to us through Jesus Christ what has to happen. Jesus is the one who sends it to John through an angel.

An apocalypse (Ancient Greek: ἀποκάλυψις apocálypsis, from ἀπό and καλύπτω meaning 'un-covering')

Revelation 1:1
The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place.

It is a great promise to us Christians, who put our faith in Jesus, that we through Him are victorious (the book of Revelation is a prophetic book, showing us God's victory over evil), and that we will be with Him on the new earth.

Remember Jesus' words:
Luke 21:31
"So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near.

Matthew 24:6
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for [these things] must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet.

There is also a blessing involved for those who reads Revelation. It is an underrated book, and for some reason there are Christians who are afraid to read it, perhaps because of the imagery an idea that it is hard to understand. But It is an open book, it is not sealed, meaning you can understand it, and Jesus is encouraging us to read it by offering a blessing to those who do.

Revelation 1:3
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
