With the philosophy of Riidkii and Nobility at the forefront of the Herd, The Noble Valley Herd there are no 'Ranks'. Instead, there are Duties, tasks, obligations, etc. These are the 'jobs' that the different Herd members accept as part of belonging to the Noble Valley Herd.
Noble Protector
The Noble Protector is the erstwhile leader of the Noble Valley Herd. This is a Soquili who believes that leading means being in the front, working with the herd and guiding them to the betterment of the whole herd. It is someone who will give everything to the herd, laying down his or her life if needed.
Nurturing Counselor
The Nurturing Counselor is often the Noble Protector's mate, though this is not always the case. The Nurturing Counselor's job is to hear and understand the needs of the herd. The Nurturing Counselor often arbitrates conflict and helps maintain the peace of the herd.
Wise Counsel
The Wise Counsel often have other duties in the herd. But these are the Soquili who come together to give Counsel and guidance to the Noble Protector. The Nurturing Counselor is always part of the Wise Counsel. Unless a member of the Wise Counsel is old, injured, or ill, they also take on other duties. There are normally for or five Wise Counsel members.
Healers
Healers are tasked with the physical, mental, and emotional health of the Herd. The most experienced healer is often on the Wise Counsel. Healers care for the herd with every skill available to them and every healer is expected to learn every technique of healing they are capable of performing.
Rangers
Rangers travel the valley and beyond. They act as scouts, guides, diplomats, and when all else fails as guards and soldiers. Rangers know the area and watch for threat, be that wild fires, locusts, plant blight, or violent intruders. They also look for those in need, hurt or alone. And those are invited to join the Herd, or simply spend time in it's safety before moving on.
Nurturers
Nurturers serve in many ways. Some as nannies and teachers of the young, some aid the healers and care for the patients who are in long term care. They know the plants of the area and what is good to eat, what will make you sick, and what can be made into medicines. Nurturers keep an area of the valley as a garden and care for it as well as any familiars who are in need and part of the herd.
Gatherers
Gatherers range about gathering food and items that can be used by the herd. They sometimes overlap with the Rangers, either traveling with them or serving some of the same roles.
Creators
Creators use their minds, their imaginations, their skill, their talents to create amazing things. Sometimes these are crafts for use by the herd or in trade. Sometimes these are improvements to make life easier. Sometimes this is art and music, to bring joy to those around them. And sometimes this is new life. Mothers who are near to giving birth and those who have new foals in baskets may take up the Creator duty for a time while they care for themselves and the new life they have created. Once the baskets open and the foals emerge Mothers may become Nurturers or resume their previous duties while the Nurturers take up the role of caring for the foals.
