[1v1] The cold hearted [Shun v Edel]

With all the things happening as of late, Shun wanted to make sure that he was at the top of his game. Not that he ever really needed an excuse to be training. Improvement was a never-ending road for the Reaper.

He was there in the gym with his blades out, striking one of the training dummies present. It wasn't as good as sparring a live target, but it was a decent substitute when he was on his own. Perhaps one day he could get an enchanted one that will move about and even attack back. It'd be a step up from a standstill target in the very least.

Pushing aside that thought, he just focused on striking the dummy with as much precision as he could.

How very convenient it was that at that moment, a minipet-sized dragon of ice came soaring through the gym, circling its way around the dummies before swooping down to chomp on the head of one. Not too far away from it was the frost demon, who was decidedly getting a little better at controlling her little ice minions.

"Hello, Shun," she greeted the reaper, somehow unsurprised to see him back at the gym and training already.

Shun caught movement out of the corner of his good eye and raised his daggers up defensively. He watched the little ice dragon thing bite down on one of the dummy's heads, then turned around to take note of the ice demon that had shown up.

"Edel," he nodded curtly in turn. He eyed her for a moment before moving away from the dummies to approach her.

"Here to train?"

There were few other reasons why someone would come to the gym, after all.

"Yes," she answered, immediately regretting that she had said that.

The ice dragon returned to her side, answering its creator's call.

The ghoul stared at the reaper, resigned.

The reaper didn't say anything right away as he just regarded Edel and her little icy minion. After a few moments of silence, he rolled his shoulders and let out a slow breath. Shun then gave the ice demon a bow before crouching down into a fighting stance with his blades.

A silent challenge had been issued.

The ghoul knew the reaper was fast. There needed to be ... a slight change of plan.

The ice dragon was reforged into two blades, mirroring the reaper's. A subtle taunt perhaps. She knew this battle wasn't hers to lose, but she'd go down with a fight at least.

His eyebrow raised as he noted the demon creating a pair of blades of her own. Trying to mimic his style, perhaps? Shun watched her for a few moments, still not saying a single word. He didn't make his move just yet. For now, he waited to see what she would do instead.

The ice dagger was flipped in her hand before it was sent hurling straight at the reaper. Not quite the same style, she wasn't fast enough for that. Another ice dagger was formed in her empty hand.

She was starting to get a little curious how this would turn out.

He saw the dagger flying at him. Shun started to move out of the way, but the ice still struck him deftly in the shoulder. With a hiss, he stepped back, then quickly made his move to retaliate. It made sense now, that she would be flinging the things at him. With her ice forming abilities, she had a limitless supply of throwing blades.

Within moments, he was right up in her face. Gripping his left blade, he slashed upwards as he closed the gap.

She knew what was coming, but that didn't mean she would be quick enough to prepare to it. The ghoul barely dodged the slash at her face, taking the damage on her shoulder and arm instead. Edel returned the slash with her own, though considerably weaker, before breaking away from the reaper to gain some distance. She would have to make him do some extra work to get to her, meanwhile, she'd buy herself as much time as she could.

Shun felt a lighter blow striking his side. She was trying to put some distance between the two of them, but he wasn't so willing to let her get away so easily. He made a quick lunge at her, trying to catch her before she could move further back.

The ghoul kept her eye trained on her target as she tried to increase the distance between them, sending a dagger his way she soon as she saw him move towards her. This wasn't going to be in her advantage in the long run, so the ghoul had better come up with a strategy to deal with it soon.

Another dagger flew into him. This time it cut against his hip. Narrowing his eye with the spark of pain, he raised his right blade and hurled it at Edel while he was moving in to keep in close. Soon after he had thrown the dagger, he recalled the weapon back to his hand.

Battle Effect: Once per battle, roll four of your normal attack dice instead of two. (If you're Y3, that means roll 4d10). The first two dice are your normal attack roll. If either of the last two dice is even, your opponent's modifier is raised to -8 on their next turn. If both the third and fourth dice are odd, nothing happens.

Edel knew that she would be unable to dodge the next attack while she prepared herself for her next move. The dagger sliced past her other arm and the ghoul let out a wince of pain, reaching for the wound as she stamped on the ground, bringing up a barrier of ice around her.

Sure, she'd be a fixed target for now, but she'd have time to prepare her next move too.

Shun paused for a moment as he saw Edel bunkering down behind a barrier of ice. Though, he soon rushed forth, bringing a leg up and giving the shield a solid side kick to try and shatter it.
