Lysanthus jumped back as the strange land pae started making the shadows move. Lys pointed his spear at the menacingly foreign 'magic'. "Ma-gic?" he repeated, looking at the stranger with a great deal of uncertainty. The naiad looked down at the cup only after the shadow had disappeared.

If the cup was anything like this 'magic' he wasn't sure he even wanted it to begin with. Lysanthus was used to tangible things, not foreign concepts like magic. At the same time this was a gift from his new naiad people... they would not have given him something bad, right?

It was true, Lys did not know what trade meant, but when Raken opened the bag Lysanthus was curious what was inside and cautiously approached the other male again.

He wasn't surprised by the others apparent fear of his power. After all, manipulating shadows into a tangible thing that could kill was fairly terrifying. When he sent the shadows away and opened his bag, a tiny smile slipped on his face. Naiads seemed to really like the idea of items. The green female he talked to earlier gave pause when he mentioned it, and Lys seemed most intrigued. Why the connection though he had no clue. "Trade?" He repeated while slowly pulling out his various items. Mirrors, furs, statues, and jewelry were slowly lowered to his feet before finding what he was hoping for. One of his old shadow daggers. Before he left the island, they helped channel additional energy into his creatures. Of late however they seemed to do nothing. It's twin still was tucked away on a shelf back home, but he had grabbed this one just in case. Lys seemed to like weapons, perhaps his jagged looking blade would be of fair trade?

Lysanthus looked slightly confused, combined with a curious expression. He was already prepared to give up the cup, nothing expected in return, at this point. While Lys did not understand the concept of trade, he wasn't about to refuse a gift from the other. Lysanthus looked carefully at each of the objects Raken was showing him.

Most of the objects he had no idea of their uses, but when he saw the familiar weapon-like sharpness of the last object, he was drawn to it. The design of it reminded him of shark teeth adding even more to the appeal to the wild-child. Lys didn't fear that the male wanted to use it against him, because he wasn't holding it in a threatening manner.

Lys handed the cup over and looked up at the land pae with big eyes, hoping that he would get a gift to help with danger as well.

Raken watched the naiad carefully as he examined his most precious wares. The furs were high quality, the jewelry full of precious gems and the sculptures had taken hours to carve. But it was the dagger that seemed to catch Lys' attention the most, just as he thought. It pained him to give an item he had carried for so long. He had very little things from happier times before the island fell. But he had to remember that it was in interest of protecting his family. As he extended a hand to take the cup, he slowly offered his blade hilt first to the other pae. "Trade." He spoke again, this time softly. And that was it. He had a cup. The sword, stick and token were safely back home. He was going to be able to protect his family from danger. "Thank you Lys."

Lysanthus was beginning to make the connection that the word trade went with the exchange they had just made. He was now staring contently at his new weapon. "Good-bye." Lysanthus said as he dove back towards the sea, looking for something to try out his new shiny toy on.
