What can you say about this verse?

1 Corinthians 15:33 '' Bad company corrupts good character''.

Well, I'll offer a couple of things:

First, that Paul is quoting a Greek poet suggests he was very educated, and went out of his way to get to know the culture so he could better communicate with them and "speak their language". (if this sounds random, I'm reading the footnote of the NIV bible.)

    1 Corinthians 15:33 (NIV)

33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”[a]

    Footnotes:

    a. 1 Corinthians 15:33 From the Greek poet Menander

Second, what he's suggesting by saying it, is that whomever we spend most of our time around, will affect the kind of person we become. Corrupt implies that something has fallen away from its intended function. So whatever good character you set out to have, will NOT maintain that intended function, but will be polluted/diluted by the beliefs and thought patterns of the wicked people you surround yourself with. You will pick up their mannerisms and philosophies because you constantly surround yourself with them. They are your "company", those you converse with on an intimate level on a constant / consistent basis.

In this chapter especially, the Corinthian church started doubting the resurrection that awaits all mankind and falling into sin again because of the people they were hanging around / fellowshipping with on an intimate level, on a consistent basis.

I agree with real eyes realize.

->It is important to have good close companies/ friends/relatives who can strengthen us in Christ.
->But do not close ourselves, we need to reach out and spread the gospel and influence them instead of being influenced by them smile

God bless you!
