[1v1] School of hard knocks [Estel/Shun] FIN

Even though he had graduated and was in the process of moving out, Shun still planned on utilizing the gymnasium now and then. And such, he was there now, practicing his forms. The wide space it offered did well for that, not to mention the practice dummies that were within as well. Perhaps one day he could have his own training space, but that wasn't going to be for awhile. The apartment they had picked out was nice, but there wasn't really much as far a good amount of open floor space available there.

She had said that she wanted to learn how to fight. And after that incident with the Trashbots, well, Estel figured that she should learn sooner rather than later.

She hadn't planned on finding Shun, this time, but she was delighted to see someone she recognized. "Hey!" She pulled her shoulder-bag up and over her head, dropping it to the floor. "Are you busy?"  

[Blade Kuroda]

Shun turned around upon hearing the somewhat familiar voice. It was Estel. With a light shrug, he rolled his shoulders and looked her over.

"I'm training right now. Is there something you need?" he asked with a quirked brow. If she was in the gym, it could mean a few things. He was about to suggest that maybe she was lost, though she did tell him the other day that never happens to her.

"How come you never warned me about Trashology?" Clasping her hands over her head, she stretched, then laughed. "Never mind." He had said that there were plenty of dangers at the school; that should have been enough for her.

Anyway, she had come here for a reason. "Could you teach me, maybe?"  

[Blade Kuroda]

"Never took the class. What about it?" Shun asked in turn. When she said never mind, he just sort of shrugged before turning more towards her.

"Teach you? How to fight, you mean?" he clarified. Unless she wanted him to teach her something else at the gym which he really had no idea. Parkour perhaps? Granted the gym did not really offer much in terms of terrain to go off of. The reaper gardens were better suited for that.  

[Luridel]

"Yeah. I mean, if you wouldn't mind, please?" Clasping her hands, she looked hopefully up at him, her body emitting a faint golden glow even in the light of the gymnasium. "The sooner I can defend myself, the better."  

[Blade Kuroda]

At that, Shun gave a curt nod. It was good that she was willing to learn. The sooner, the better.

"Good. Show me your fighting stance."

He wanted to see where she was currently as far as that went. The daggers in his hands vanished. A little hand to hand training was always nice to do apart from using his weapons. After giving that first bit of instruction, he shifted into a stance of his own, staring down at Estel with his one good eye.  

[Luridel]

"My what?" She backed away from the place where she had left her bag. Estel's fists clenched at her sides, the glow surrounding her body growing several shades brighter.  

[Blade Kuroda]

"Fighting stance. Feet roughly shoulder width apart. Stay on the balls of your toes. Hands up. You'll want to keep your guard up," Shun stated plainly.  

[Luridel]

Fighting. Had she ever fought before she died? Was this something she knew how to do?

Estel inched her feet obediently apart and raised her hands. The pose didn't come naturally to her, not in the way that running or jumping or climbing did. Still, there was something not entirely unfamiliar about waiting for her opponent to strike.

She narrowed her eyes, which had begun to glow a soft violet. "I see," she said quietly, watching Shun.

Shun tilted his head slowly as he regarded her stance. It wasn't bad for starters but it could always use improvement. He had taken note of her eyes taking a faint violet glow, but didn't really think much of them just yet. After a moment or two of waiting, he moved in to strike.

"Dodge or block," he stated in a neutral tone just as he went in. It was time to see how her reflexes fared, as well as how strong her balance was.

As he came in, he aimed a kick towards her midsection, looking more to knock her over if possible.

Estel flinched violently, throwing up her arms to protect her face. The kick landed easily and she stumbled backwards, keeping her balance.

"Not bad."

With her defenses raised, Shun moved to strike again, aiming a punch at her this time around.

"Don't lock yourself in one spot. Move around. If you think you seen an opening, make your strike."

Estel lowered her crossed arms away from her face, her eyes still gleaming violet. Startlingly quick for someone who had done nothing but look scared until now, she threw a punch at the side of Shun's jaw.

Estel was pretty quick and her punch landed against the side of his jaw pretty soundly. His head snapped to the side from the strike. Shaking his head, he rubbed the area for the moment.

"Good. Like that."

Shun will have to give her some more specific instructions and maneuvers in due time but this was just a sort of early assessment of her skill level as far as he was concerned. Keeping in close, he shifted in, striking twice. The first was a jab aimed at her midsection, followed up by another towards her chest.
