The fact that a sweet yet salty sea wind could drift so easily through the city's twisted paths always amazed Leo. Even now, with the breeze ruffling his hair and tugging at his shirt collar, the man couldn't deny the mild sense of relief the scent inspired in his sensitive nose. It shooed away the stench of cigarettes that lingered in the air after his last 'guest' and reminded him that despite the unpleasant business he'd just wrapped up with the fool that had proclaimed himself a 'fellow researcher'.. It wouldn't really matter at the end of the day. The consultation he'd given the arrogant man would at least offer a outside perspective to the issue and, foul temperament or not, the man had paid in full for the care given by means of buying Leo's team Lunch (which Leo made no effort to partake in personally) and casually sliding his business card across the table despite the Mer's disinterest in further contact. At the nagging of his team members he'd shoved it into his coat and grumbled off; Forgoing even his precious paperwork for the sake of escaping the loud human man and his chattering team for a while. Said card was almost heavy in his pocket, the man simply drifting along the streets of his beloved city rather than returning to his loud workplace or the quiet sanctum of his home far away from the City's heart. As wild as the residents could be, even on a calm evening like this one, only faint sounds of life and activity drifted along the stone walkways and walls as he tried to absorb some of the residual energy of the town into himself. He was tired and, perhaps, a bit starved as well if the dramatic gurgle of his stomach was anything to go by, Leo blinking in surprise as he slowed to a halt in the walkway and placed a hand against his abdomen with a displeased frown. " Complaining, are we...? I know I fed you the other night.." Hell would have frozen over before he touched the 'bribe' that oaf had bought over the rest of his team with earlier.. Pizza, and cheap pizza at that, was about as appealing as dirt with the sheer amount of expectation that had been attached to that food.
Well.. No point in whining now.. A sigh escaped and Leo hung his head, sliding his arms around his waist as his head started to swim uneasily. Fatigue..? Damn, he should have went back to the sea after all.. Swallowing the man slid back, easing his weight against the wall of what could only be a pub due to the noxious scents of booze and bodies oozing from the doorway nearby. He had to struggle to collect himself, certain those drifting by would dismiss him as a drunk and ignore him as he fought to negotiate with his body for obedience. He was hungry, sleep deprived, and frustrated.. And he didn't want to admit any of it. There were far worse places to be stranded, he liked this area after all, but he'd already fallen behind on his work... Leaning his head back against the cool bricks behind him Leo let his eyes slide closed, the murmur of voices and static sounds of the city helping to distract him from the lethargy trying to seep into his limbs. Rest, then he'd fight the battle of moving.. Surely he still had some protein bars in the kitchen at home?
