Location : Bookstore | Company : Ambrose | Mood : Relaxed | Residence : 1220 Pasadena | Profile : Here Occupation : Architect and child | Status : Single and too young | OOC : --
There are times that the two do not come to agreement on what they want to do. Sometimes Vincent just wants a relaxing day in the park, and Ambrose wants to go the the Aquarium....again. Or Vincent wants to draw his next project and get his work done early, but Ambrose wants to play jungle gym all over Vincent. No Ambrose, he does not want your socked foot in his mouth okay?! But, there is one thing the two almost always come to agreement with. Books. Always books.
It doesn't matter what the genre is, or how big, or if it has pictures in it. They will always seem to pick the same book as one another and enjoy their daily reads. The peaceful times where Vincent can lie down on the bed or floor, with Ambrose curled up against his side, and just read the book out loud. It is their one point of bonding, aside from drawing time, that is entirely sacred. They do not pick on one another or argue, and become engrossed in their read. It is one of Vincent's favorite moments. The little pieces of calm and wonder as he finds Ambrose hanging onto his every word while he reads.
So it is no surprise that when Ambrose complained about wanting to go to the park, a tired Vincent was able to make him yield entirely when he suggested the local bookstore instead. "Last time was a mystery, what should we get this time?" The man asks as he hold the door open for the small child to enter ahead of him, his freehand still firmly grasping the tiny fingers in his own. "An adventure!" Though he felt like a mystery wasn't too far from an adventure novel, he nods and lets the child lead him to the different shelves as Ambrose does his best to read the signs. "You're doing great. Just keep sounding out the words."

It had been so damn dead boring in the bookstore today that Erik wasn’t even paying a bit of attention when the door opened. Yet again he was reading whatever his hand happened to grab off of a shelf when he came in to work today. No matter what he grabbed, he would read it through to the end even if he hated it. Well, if it was a sequel to something he hadn’t read he would switch for the first book, but other than that no matter suck or win he would read it. More knowledge for recommendations, right? Today’s pick was interesting for sure, Victorian soft-core lesbian vampire porn anyone? Well, this had some literary merit and it was a different take on the vampire legend from what its successor Dracula had proposed.
Kro gave the customers a once over before hopping over to Erik and giving him a light peck. The jump from cold pale young woman pressed up against the narrator in her sleep to the current and not at all sensual moment took him a hot minute. First thing he noticed was there was a guy who wasn’t Heisuke in the store. Once his mind was fully in the real world, he noticed he recognized the man as the one he had been talking to about raising little kids, Vincent. Looking a little lower, he saw said little kid, an adorable tyke of four to five years. As he recalled, the kid’s name was Ambrose. Had it just been Vincent, Erik would have just waited at the counter for a few more moments until Vincent looked lost or came up to the counter. But there was a small child in the building, and Erik just couldn’t resist hanging out with kids: they were the only people he felt comfortable around. Making sure to note the page he was on, he closed the book and put it back on the shelf before heading over to the two. Kro decided to man the fort while the half-idiot was away. ”Can I help you with anything, Vincent?” Before Vincent could respond, he knelt down to Ambrose’s level (or as close as he could get), though made sure to stay a good distance away so as not to crowd the kid. ”And you must be Ambrose? It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” Oh, wait, not everyone had a perfect memory like he did. There was a decent chance Vincent didn’t recognize or remember him and it would be bad business to come off as a creep. Turning back to Vincent, though still knelt down, he attempted to clarify himself. ”Ah sorry, I should introduce myself. I’m Erik, we talked a bit on Charmblr.” There, creep level decreasing.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, Isa could remember people often found rainy days quite gloomy. Though the cold square gray concrete buildings of his “home” had made things a bit gloomy all of the time, quite different from the rainbow of colors on display in Soleil. Regardless, if rain had depressing properties, it was of paramount importance he find some fun things for he and Emi to do. There would be no gloom for her so long as he lived…er…existed. First on the list was the bookstore. He had borrowed the Thing from her and cautiously drove over, careful not to hit any bumps or turn too fast or anything that might make the ride uncomfortable. ”Feel free to pick out some new stories if you are getting tired of the ones I’ve been reading to you.” He made sure they were still in the car and no one was around when he mentioned that, kids could be awfully particular when it came to looking mature in front of their peers. Yes, he read her bedtime stories every night so long as she wanted him to, but no one else had to know about that. ”Try to keep it under two hundred dollars if you can. Of course if you find something you absolutely have to have I’ll get it for you, but I might have to dip into the treat budget for the extra money.” Any resourceful parent knew the best way to keep their child from trying to buy everything was to threaten the budget of something they liked even more.
Once they arrived at the bookstore, he’d hop out first and run around to her side so he could open the door for her and help her out. He had an umbrella opened as well, and made sure to keep it perfectly over her until they were in the bookstore. ”Alright, go have fun. If you need me to carry anything, just let me know.” He might pick up something too, though he had lost interest in reading. These days the only point to it was to learn something that might be useful and/or interesting for Emi or Val. Those two were the entire point of his existence, his only reason to continue walking this planet. He saw nothing wrong with that at all.

Even on such a rainy and gloomy looking day, Emi was more than happy just spending time with mama bear! There was no way she'd turn down an opportunity to hang out with him! Today's excursion was the book store! The pinkette was itching to see what kind of new manga was out or even just trying to find more books on drumming. While she was perfectly happy with her little guitar, Emi was a curious musical creature. She always had a curious mind for any instrument, but drums really brought it back home for her. After all, it was her own father's instrument of choice. He definitely had the arm strength for it, though. For some reason, rainy days did make her a little homesick - maybe she should video call her father at some point today.
Hearing that her limit was two hundred dollars seemed like more than enough of an allowance. Besides, there's no way in HELL she's gonna touch the treat money! Treats were important! "Hey! We still have to get our treats, too! I'll stay on budget~" The mute signed as she skipped off towards the music section. Glancing through the aisle, there were plenty books on guitars and piano, but no drums just yet. It wasn't until she got to the end cap of the music section that she found a little booklet on them. Just as she was about to scurry over and grab it, another customer snagged it first! Emi clearly lost the race, but was fidgeting around wondering if she should cut her loses and try again next time or simply ask to see if she could just look at it before they bought it.

Like a parent at the ball pit, Isa stayed on the sidelines but watched his baby girl like a hawk and was ready to swoop in at a second’s notice. For the moment he was entertaining himself over in the cookbook section. ”Should I get one? My cooking is probably a violation of the Geneva Convention, but is it something I can fix? Or did it die with my sense of taste and pain? It was a miserable thought, but there was no sense in ignoring the truth just to make himself feel better. Eventually he grabbed a cookbook for kids. Hopefully it would be simple enough that he could figure it out, and if not maybe Emi would have fun with it? Speaking of, his Emi senses were lighting up. Tucking the book under his arm he made his way over towards her just in time to see some other customer grabbing up a little booklet. He glanced back at Emi, trying to read her reaction. For someone who almost never felt emotions and rarely could pick up on emotional cues, he had learned to read Emi’s signs. Yeah, she had definitely been going for that book. The other customer had clearly grabbed it up long before Emi was within range, so all things considered it was completely fair. But life wasn’t fair and he would give Emi whatever she wanted. ”I’ll take care of it, Emi bear,” he whispered to her before walking up to the other customer.
It took a minute or two of negotiation, and quite possibly an exchange of coin, but Isa returned triumphantly and handed her the booklet. ”This is yours now, well, after we pay for it that is. I never learned to drum, but we can learn together if you want?” Lena had a thing for guitarists, and he hadn’t survived long enough to learn any other instrument. ”Have you hit the manga section yet? I’m almost surprised you didn’t go there first.” It wasn’t his thing, but he was working on learning all of the terminology to show he paid attention to her interests. There were a few words he had learned along the way that were simply too mature for her. He might actually fully die if he saw her sign any of them.

It was a bit of a mental struggle trying to figure out what to do about the booklet, at least until Mama bear came in to save the day. It wouldn't have been the end of the world if she didn't get that book... but it was nice to have a parent that had your back even if that meant bribing the stranger. With the booklet now in her hands, Emi gave Isa a big ol' squeeze of appreciation. Afterwards, she tucked the book under her arm so she could sign. "I've been missing Papa a lot lately so I figured it would be pretty cool to learn drumming. Imma little rusty, but I think we can make decent drummers with practice~" Of course, Emi would always love her Mama Bear, but every so often she'd get homesick.
Speaking of manga, Emi was already scurrying her way over there. Hopefully there were some new volumes of this manga about two travelling witches. If not, maybe there would be a new read to find. "Hehe, I thought about it, but I really wanted something on drumming first, ya know?" Crimson eyes curiously glanced at the cookbook Isa had in his arms and gave a little smile. "Trying your hand at cooking? We can do something out of that tonight for dinner~" Baking was mostly her specialty, but Emi's cooking wasn't too bad. While her dad was running the music store, there were times where Emi had to cook for herself. Teaching Isa wouldn't be too hard... although, maybe without a sense of taste it would be a little difficult...
Browsing through the manga section, she had yet to see the latest volume of the current story she was reading, but found a few new ones to pick up instead. They were silly rom coms, but that's probably for the best. There was absolutely no way she was gonna go looking through the 18+ ones with her mama still here!

tab tab tab Today Marion is double checking with the weather before deciding what to wear in her outing because the last time she went out, she definitely felt some regret and a little chilly. So today she went with she did more layering of her clothes, like adding a cape over her blouse and using knitted stockings instead. Pre-planning the books she wanted to buy from the store while having her morning coffee. It is a must to either have that or tea to start the day or else. Nothing really happens but she just wants her warm drink in the morning.
tab tab tab Slipping on her marry-janes and a matching beret, she stepped out of her home making the twenty-ish minute walk to the Book store, though the weather is getting warmer, she should still give thought to ever study for a driver's licence, or she can just go for an electric bike; they seem to be easier to get and definitely less expensive too. It didn't take too long for her to set her goal and add it to her mental to-do list. By the time she has planned out the details of said she plans to get for herself, she has reached the bookstore.
tab tab tab Enter the shop she took note of the handful of people there, though she noticed the shop seemed... narrow. seemed like only one or two people could walk down each aisle if they were shoulder to shoulder so she kept in mind to only walk down the empty ones to avoid that. She felt clammed up to ask any of the employees for directions so she tried her best with just the signs around the shop to find the books she was looking for such as Coraline, The Butterfly Garden and several autonomy books for research. With swift notions, she was able to find the first two books easily but now going through different science books and deciding on two she'll get; can't spend all the money she earns on books though she would along with doll accessories if bills weren't in the equation.

Andromeda Hale
The last few days had been quite busy, between spending the day with Hercules, his brother and her sister, then having a one on one date with Hercules afterwards. Sighing lightly to herself happily, she felt the corners of her lips creep up a bit in a small smile simply thinking about Hercules, but for now, she needed to focus on what she was doing. She had taken this day to spend some time for just her, doing something she deeply enjoyed. Reading. Her commute to the bookstore wasn't bad and she thought would be longer than it actually was, but as she arrived at the front door, she smirked curiously at the name. It was quite fitting. Going in, she nodded to one of the employees, giving them a small smile before disappearing into the rows of shelves. Letting her fingers move over the books, she made her way towards the history section. She wasn't sure if what she was looking for would be in the history section, or within a mythology and lore section. Working her way through the shelves, she lingered on a few books here and there, even if it wasn't what she was looking for. Something about the name or cover would catch her attention. Tucking her hair behind a pointed ear, she mumbled a little to herself about the topic of the book, making note of it and maybe come back to it later. Turning to continue walking, she made a soft squeaking noise as she nearly toppled into a quite petite woman with striking features, but not in a bad way. "Apologies miss, I should have paid more attention before walking." Bowing her head a bit in apology, she lingered, wanting to make sure she was okay even though she hadn't actually made contact with her. Taking notice of what the woman was carrying, it seemed like she was an avid reader as well, which made Andromeda's lip perk up a bit in a smile. It was always interesting to see how people spent their free time and if it was reading, what sort of books they enjoyed.

Andromeda Hale
Sighing lightly in relief, Andromeda was glad she hadn't run into the petite woman, and she seemed to have been able to move out of the way preemptively anyway. Her reaction to her seemed a little strange though, like she was surprised by how she looked or something. Arching a brow curiously, there was a strange pause between them and it was almost like she could see the question running through her mind before she mouthed 'sorry' to her and turned back to her books. Giving a soft hum of understanding, Andromeda looked back to the books herself, wondering why she had looked at her like that. She racked her mind for whatever inclination she could have had, her past interactions with people. Blinking in surprise as she recalled a time in the park, Andromeda turned and looked at the woman surprised that she didn't recognize her features sooner. She had been in the park when she'd seen her first. "I am sorry to bother you, but I believe I recognize you from the park here..." Hoping she wouldn't unsettle the poor young woman by speaking to her again, at least she wasn't almost running her over this time. Looking back to the books, trying to keep things calm and light, she didn't want to scare her away either, hoping this time she could make a potential friend in this woman, though she seemed a little harder to get to know. But she wasn't exactly the best at reading people, she was still learning from being around Hercules how to understand people better.
