Jam, his Ringleader Foxfire, sat by his feet and pawed at one of Brand's many pairs of black boots. Instead of the thigh high ones he wore for shows and special occasions, he wore flat ankle boots in black, with a faux snakeskin pattern along one side, and gold buckles star charms decorating the black leather ties around them. He whimpered back at Jam as Jam, again, pined for attention. "I can't pick you up, luv, you'll get me covered in white fur," Brand tsk'd at his foxfire, but reached down to scratch its head anyway, smiling.
Back to the task at hand, Brand rifled through designer shirts at one of the many Maul shops. He wanted something classy and casual but not too casual-- "Effortless, that's what I'd like it to say," Brand said. That was new, clearly; Brand was a pretty flashy kind of guy, so no matter how low key the shirt he picked was it would never be quiet enough to make up for his bright pink hair, his white lashes, his clover tattoo and teal eyes. Oh, also all the piercings. "What do you think, Jam?" Brand asked, pulling a purple top off the rack and holding it up to himself. It was not exactly effortless (though it did, unlike that, extend to cover his stomach) so much as it was kind of grunge. Jam barked. "I don't know, I think it's nice! Not what I was looking for, but let's get it, too," Brand argued with the foxfire, slinging it over his arm. He spotted, suddenly, a shirt he fell in love with right next to a gorgeous ghoul. the shirt looked to have a print of some part of Halloweentown on it, and it was modestly coloured but fascinating in its design. He desperately wanted to feel the textile, and look at it, and-- he didn't want to push into the ghoul.
"I'm sorry to bother you, luv, but you're standing right next to my new obsession, and if you wouldn't mind handing me that shirt right there I'd be forever fond of you?" Brand said, with one of his showmanship smiles. Really harmless, surely. He pointed to the shirt with the map. Jam ran onto his shoe and sat on top of it, staring up at the stranger.

It wasn't odd to see Mia at the Maul frequently, as she often dropped by quite a bit, picking up new trinkets and accessories to match with certain outfits she purchased, or finding new outfits to mix and match with said extras.
Today, it was the former, and she was looking through a rack of some floral-shaped adornments when she heard a voice address her, and she turned around to see a well-dressed and handsome boil pointing to a shirt beside her "Ah, this one?" She plucked the one in question off the rack, handing it to the boil. "I love your taste in clothes. Are you... new here?" She might have been eyeing his skull pin, noting that common item most students wore. That, or the boil had a thing for skulls. And... she was pretty sure she would have noticed quite a looker like himself.
It was then she noticed the little foxfire ontop of his shoe, and Mia let out a coo as she bent down to pet him. "Aww, what a cutie! Is he yours?"

Brand winked at her, as she passed him the shirt. "Beautiful, thanks luv," he reached out, put the shirt across his arm. He should probably stop there, but the maul was so full of gorgeous new things and so bustling-- it was perfect for him, it was like being in a commercialist version of home. Sort of.
"Doubly thanks, love yours, too-- what do you think about this purple thing?" He asked, pulling up the purple shirt he'd chosen before with all its holes for style. "Yeah! Brand new, and my name is Brand," he said, laughing to himself and shrugging one shoulder, "Sorry, that was pretty awful. Can't help it. Is it so obvious I'm new?"
He smiled and nudged Jam forward. "He came to keep me company, and I took him for the walk and the fashion advice," he said. He was obviously kidding about the latter. Jam, after a short hesitation, bounced up into Mia's hand and tried to lick her fingers, nuzzling up into the pets. Brand beamed. "That's Jam, and at home I have Biscuit and a handful of others," he said.
Brand held a hand out "It's great to meet you! I'm so new that I haven't spoken with anyone at all from the school, yet-- I get here, and what do I do first? Go shopping," he said, and rolled his eyes at himself, smiling.

Mia couldn't help but laugh. "I think it suits you quite well, Brand. Both the shirt and your name." Terrible pun or not, she thought it was rather cute. And well, purple WAS her favourite colour, so maybe she was a bit biased, but it did go well with his vibrant pink hair. "Mm, only in the fact that I should have noticed a boil like you in the school." She winked at him.
"Jam and Biscuit? What adorable names!" She giggled at the foxfire's affection, and petted him some more. "I suppose it's rather fitting. He's so adorable I could just eat him up~"
After floofing the foxfire a bit more, she stood up, taking Brand's hand. "Likewise. My name is Miasma, but please feel free to call me Mia." She should probably just introduce herself as Mia if she wanted creeple to call her that, but it had been habit, and formal. Perhaps it was that one tie she had left of her family. "I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Leaving a good first impression is rather important."

Compliments and attention were literally two of Brand's favourite things. His family as a whole thrived in the spotlight, and his time at Amityville would be absolutely no exception. Brand winked at her again, "I'm going to take those both as compliments," he said, and laughed.
Brand loved purple, too-- he loved colours in general, but it was such a gorgeous colour. Hey, Miasma was a gorgeous ghoul, too, and so stylish; he could hardly be humble around a chick like that if she was going to be so nice to him. Brand was basically puffing up and presenting like a peacock, by this point; the more she was nice to him, the more his ridiculous ego wanted more.
"I am trouble," he agreed, laughing. "I'm afraid to ask how much more experienced you are than me," Brand admitted, "please be gentle with me," he teased.
Brand loved teatimes, thanks to his family, so yeah, Jam and Biscuit were pretty fitting names. Biscuit was a lot less round and fluffy, though. "Right?! It's shameful how cute he is! I just want to squish his little cheeks and devour him whole, don't I, Jammm?" Brand had knelt down and was playfully roughhousing the foxfire's sides with his black-gloved hands.
Brand stood, too, to shake Mia's hand. He held on a second longer than he needed, with a friendly squeeze. "Miasma, that's lovely. Mia is so sweet, though; can't really shorten my name to anything good," he said, smiling. "Maybe you wouldn't mind keeping me company at the Maul today, Mia? If first impressions are so important, maybe we can iron out my mischievous ways into a good impression.. if you spend a little more time with me," he said, the corner of his mouth cocked up into a smile.
"In fact, I might even have a present for you-- how do you feel about eyescream, though, Miasma? Oh, I should call you Mia-- it's just difficult, your name is beautiful!" Brand said.
He was shameless. He lifted Jam up and held him under one arm, "I'm just going to go buy these," he said. Then, he had a sudden thought. "Mia, I bet we're both so beautiful we could rock anything in this place, but I have an excellent idea for the afternoon before eyescream if you'd allow it," he said, taking a few steps back to whisper conspiratorially: "We should both find the gaudiest clothing we can, no holds barred. Here's the catch: we both have to wear whatever the other one of us finds. And then we have to take a photo in that mirror there," he said, nodding his head to the full body mirror by the changing rooms.
"What do you think, Mia? Challenge accepted?" Brand asked.

She would hope he did, and smiled, unable to hide a slight fluster at his teasing. "You flatter me." Psy couldn't help but giggle. Ah, young love.
"Very much so!" She couldn't help but laugh, watching him play with the foxfire. She didn't know which was cuter; the boil, or the mini.
Her cheeks grew a shade darker at the compliment, but she smiled warmly at him. "I think your name is rather cute as is, Brand, unless you'd like me to call you Brandy." It wasn't exactly sweet, but he definitely was a spirited boil. "But of course! It would be my pleasure." Oh my, she had just met the boil, and he was already treating her? Be still, her heart. She caught the look Psy gave her, and frowned. No Psy, this was a friendly greeting, and he was being polite because he was a gentleboil. "I would love eyescream, thank you~"
Not much more shameless than she, considering she already had a few accessories picked out for purchase. His challenge, however, caught her by surprise, and she couldn't help but stare at him. Normally, she would have declined; who KNEW what horrendous things "gaudy" could be perceived as? But considering this was Brand, who Mia considered to be a similarly fashion-conscious reaper, and he probably wouldn't try to ruin her (this wasn't Andrew after all), and especially after all those compliments he had heaped on her, how could she possibly say no?
"I do, on one exception." She grinned. "No holds barred." She was going to regret this.

He did, in fact, revel in flattering her. "Is it flattery, if it's just true?" Brand smiled at her, looking at her through his white lashes. It made him feel good, and she didn't seem to mind, so if everyone was happy, what was the harm?
"Brandy! That's cute," he said, laughing and clapping his hands together. "My family loves names, being given a new name is a treasured gift," he said. Brandy was actually pretty good, too; he seemed like he was drunk on a relatively often basis, because his Psychonaut abilities only worked when he was in a trance-state.
Brand's family did, in fact, love to share their meals, and it was pretty common for them to treat each other. "Glad to hear it, Mia," he said, excited for eyescream later. Brand would die without friends, but man, he came on a little heavy-handed sometimes.
"No holds barred," he said, "from head to toes, cross my heart," Brand added, looking at Mia with something that might be considered guilt. He bought his things, and asked the monster behind the counter if she'd allow him to keep the bags there while he browsed the store. Naturally, she accepted.
"Alright, Jam-- time to do your stuff," he whispered to the foxfire, ruffling its fur and pushing him forward gently. He straightened and watched as Jam ran through the racks of clothing, his little nails clicking on the floor excitedly.
The first thing that Jam stopped at was a pair of heeled sandals with rhinestone lips on a transparent strap that would fit between the toes. Brand picked up the gold pair, and hid them from Mia.
As Brand picked the shoes up, and as he straightened up, he saw the perfect shirt. It was some kind of cat thing with ... swimwear?
He started to laugh, and tried to muffle it.

She couldn't help but blush more, looking away for a bit to recompose herself. "Is that so?" she laughed, turning back to look at him. "I'll call you Brandy then, from now on, unless told otherwise." It did have a rather cute ring to it. Suitable for a cute boil.
Heavy-handed or not, Mia always appreciate gestures or tokens of kindness. Who could ever turn down gifts? Well, it seemed he was off, and Mia smiled, starting to head off into a section of the store also. "Well, Psy, why don't we get started?"
The first thing she picked out was a pair of green shutter shades, because this was a contest for the most gaudiest clothing, and naturally, that included gaudy accessories. She also picked out a particular necklace as well, unable to hide a giggle when she saw it. "You're quite ruthless, aren't you?" "All in good fun~"
She also picked out a festive tie, a shirt, and a straw hat to top it all off. "Dear jack."
