OOC: This RP is dated to back when the boys were teens and all living in the cave. Raken has just gotten the naiad's cup.

That was everything. Raken gently inspected the delicate shell in his hand as he made his way back into the caves entrance. To believe such a fragile thing would be a token of protection...then again one should never under estimate magic. Shame he had to give up his knife though. He frowned lightly at the thought. Now that he had all the items the Guardians wanted, he supposed he was to wait for the next signal. Thankfully he was a patient demon but...

...he really liked his knife. The male glanced into Dyas' room as he typically did whenever he passed it, but it being mid-day of course the female was out and about. In a typical afternoon he'd see if one of the boys were interested in a lesson, be it hunting, farming or intellectual. But after his arduous journey he'd rather simply rest. He took a turn down a corridor to lead into the kitchen. A nice cup of tea sounded lovely.

Melek was apathetically just wandering around the house, kicking some stones as he went. Shell... Token... Stick... Where the hell was he supposed to get a sword? If he had the sword, he could appear the Guardians to have his voice restored to something intelligible. Hopefully. Maybe it was for nothing, but for once it gave him something to strive for and to hope for.

Sighing, he shrugged and headed to the kitchen himself. Maybe some water to cool his head.

Getting a cup of the liquid, he began drinking before movement in his peripheral caught his attention. Oh? Gramps was back? Giving a 'hey' sort of half-wave, he finished his drink. Where did that guy go these days anyways? It wasn't like he was here half of the time anymore.

As his silver feet turned into the kitchen, his steel blue eyes quickly saw he wasn't alone. He wasn't sure why this surprised him, what with a cave full of pae he was bound to run into someone. He smiled faintly before nodding to the shetani. Poor boy, inheriting his mothers mutism. The demonic set down his shell on the counter before letting his pack slip to the floor with a satisfied sigh. "Feels good to be home. You boys been behaving?" Of course they weren't; they were teenage males. Still, the cave was in one piece and as long as no one was dead or imprisoned he was happy. He reached onto a shelf to pull free a wooden cup to dip into their stone basin of water. "Was your mother sore from me abruptly leaving again?"

Malek's hair drooped slightly into his eyes as he moved to set his cup into an area with natural light to dry. It wasn't that he didn't want to try and talk with his gramps, it just... he just didn't really know him all that well to be honest, and conversation was generally a pain. He shrugged in response to both his questions, not that it would clearly be interpreted as such. Really, what more could he do? It was a pain...

Moving to head out of the room, his eye caught sight of the shell that was set on the counter. Was that...? Walking closer, he picked it up to eye it more carefully. It was! A naiad's cup! But, why did gramps have such a thing unless he, too, had been sent on this Guardian's quest.

Had he?

Might explain why he was gone all the time. In order to complete it, one was meant to gather four things: the medallion of the faun, the shell of the naiad, a magical stick, and a sword. Malek had three of these (or, at least he hoped his stick was magical), but the fourth... well... where in the Guardian's name was he supposed to find something like that?

He only half paid mind to his grandson as he poured his cup of water into the metal bowl held suspended over the pit used for cooking. As he bent down with a rock to start to light the fire, he noticed Malek picking up his shell. "Careful. You wouldn't believe the trouble I went through to get that fragile thing." Tck. Tck. Tck. Finally a good spark caught on the tinder, and he gently blew on it to coax the fire to burn. When it was strong enough to be left alone, he sat back to wait. "The Guardians want it though, for a reason I can't entirely fathom. They wanted a lot of other things with it, but that cup was the hardest to get." Raken shook his head with a sigh at that. Playing charades with a naiad. Thankfully he was a patient male.

Malek merely looked over and blinked at his gramps as he was scolded, if you could call that a proper scolding at all. He had found retrieving the cup to be difficult as well, but to say it was the hardest out of everything... well... at least he had found it. But these other things had the teenager's curiosity piqued. What if that meant they had been partaking in the same sort of quest, each for their own selfish interest.

Guardian's know what his grandfather would want of them.

That said, perhaps he could help him out with information of some sort. Setting down the shell, Malek looked over to Raken with a head-tilt, feigning naivete of and curiosity for more specifics about what he was talking about.

With Malek being affected with the same problem as his mother, it was important to watch the shetani carefully for any sort of communication. So when his grandson tilted his head, he all but burst with pride. Finally, someone cared about what he did!

He moved to the stone shelf to pick some tea leaves and drop them into his cup. "The cup I procured from a naiad. I ended up having to trade one of my daggers." That should prove just as serious the situation was. One of his precious daggers.

Raken picked up his now boiling pot of water and poured it into his teacup. "There were other object too however. A token from the faun. Thankfully you have an uncle who is a faun. Kaiden. After I explained the situation he parted with it. The stick was the easiest. Simply took a branch from a tree over in the clearing." A soft click sounded as he set the cup on the counter to steep. "Then there was a sword. I would have never found that without Kurt. You boys don't know him, but he was a friend of mine way before I even met your grandmother."

Head tilt and sinker; getting his grandfather to react had been easier than he had hoped. It would have probably been more difficult if it was anyone else, but raising a family with a number of mutes did have its perks at times. Especially when it came to body language.

Crossing his arms, he silently payed attention, nodding as each item was explained.

Cup from a Naiad? Check.

Token from a Faun? Check.

Stick from... a tree in the nearby clearing? That was where he'd found his own; guess he had gotten lucky then.

And a... a sword? His eyes widened slightly at the thought. That must be the fourth and final object he was meant to find! Hopefully his reaction would be enough to provoke further explanation about its location and maybe this Kurt fellow. Who was that anyways? Didn't particularly matter, but any potentially useful connections were good to have.

As his tea steeped, he had nothing to do except stand and stare at the dark blue male. So he caught the slight eye widening. But if that was from shock of his harrowing tale or curiosity about Kurt, he wasn't completely sure. It was hard enough to communicate with mutes, but Malek seemed particularly apathetic with trying. Still, he wasn't going to pass the opportunity to look 'cool' in front of his grandkid. He might be old, but he could still do incredible things!

"Yeah, an angel. You see, most pae used to live all in one really large house called Headquarters. It had all the conveniences of living in the City, and more. Fancy things, like moving pictures in a box. It was easy to meet pae back then, and there was no war or strife. Ah, but you probably don't want or need to know of a place that won't ever exist again." He grabbed a stick and started to stir his tea a little. "I met Kurt there. He lives in the mountains now, tending to alpaca's. Fascinating animal as it turns out. It's probably why he knew where the sword was. Must have stumbled across the battlefield while tending to his...flock or I'm not sure of the terminology."

Ah, looks like gramps misunderstood his curiosity as being directed towards Kurt rather than the sword itself. No matter, somehow, it seemed to have worked and he was given his answer: the mountain. Somewhere in the mountains was an old battlefield. But where...

'Tihsenka...?' His mind asked as he continued to look to his gramps. A few moments passed before a familiar sensation came to rest against the nape of his neck.

'Yes?'

'Do you think you could try and figure out where in the mountains there might be a battleground? Or some alpacas... whatever those are? It seems like our clue to finding this final item.'

A pause.

'Please?'

Another pause and a sigh reverbarated in his mind. 'You really ask a lot at times, were you aware of that? I will see what I can do, but no promises.'

'Thanks!' At this, the boy nodded to his grandfather and set his empty glass on the table. The city and fancy technologies... Yeah, there was no point in dwelling on them. Giving a wave, he proceeded to leave him to his tea and carry on with his own... things... whatever they might be.

He smiled rather proudly, reveling in being so interesting to Malek. The boys typically couldn't be bothered to stick around and listen to his stories. He picked up his tea, and when he turned back around Malek was leaving. "Oh...goodbye." Raken lifted his free hand to wave back, but the male was already out of the kitchen.

So much for bonding. He sighed and took a sip of his tea. At least he had his tea.
