The young man chuckled seeing the blush that creeped over Patrick’s face and to his ears. Of course he had expected them to react to him whispering in their ear but he didn’t expect this much of a reaction. But he wouldn’t push it. They still had a long road to walk before making camp in a semi safe place. Considering the jungle being very much real, not many places were suitable to set up tents. Instead he gave them a kiss at the base of their ear, resisting the temptation to give them a teasing nibble, and they went on their way. Saeki loved this jungle. He wasn’t sure if it was the environment, the sounds of the birds or that they got together here. But it was his favorite spot in Soleil. Once hand in hand they followed the path together and the young man looked around to keep an eye on traps or dangerous animals together with Patrick. Two pair of eyes saw more than one after all. Before he knew it though, Patrick answered the questions he had thought of moments ago.

Did they add mind reading to their skills he wondered. But since he had nothing to hide from Patrick, Saeki wasn’t worried if they could. Though they might be surprised by said thoughts. He had gone through a change of his own over the time they had been together. He was less hung up about affection, easier with public kisses and hugs and ever since his boyfriend had introduced him to the world of intimacy back in the hotel he had a healthy attraction towards Patrick in that as well. He wouldn’t mind at all if they did end up doing more adult activity later this day. As long as it was Patrick, gladly even. When they ran into the first trap since the log one, the young man gently stopped the other before looking around, though there seemed to be nothing suspicious nearby other than the ground itself.

Still he walked around the odd patch of land before them. After that he followed Patrick again once they would join him. As Patrick replied about getting inside the temple, Saeki smiled. "Good thinking, I admit I am curious about the inside of this temple." he confessed. Soon enough the next trap opened before them, literally. It looked like some unfortunate person had triggered the trap before they got here. Saeki swallowed a bit as he looked at the bloodstained spikes and cloth. He had seen death before and skeletons didn’t scare him. But the mere idea of this man perhaps suffering for hours, waiting for a rescue that would never come. It made his stomach drop. It was a good thing they were here together. Even though one would probably not survive a trap like that either way. He gripped Patrick’s hand a bit tighter and walked with them around the pit, as if scared to lose his grip on them in the process. He really didn’t want Patrick to fall in one of those, nor himself for that matter. "What a way to perish." he whispered to Patrick as they walked, averting his gaze from the pitfall trap and ahead of them to look for signs of other traps or the temple being near. After a moment they passed some statues and idols again. It was probably not that far anymore now.

The kiss at the base of Patrick’s ear added to the arousal he had already been feeling and the sensation on the skin lingered for a while afterwards. With the usual jungle noises going on in their surroundings he didn’t think anything amiss was going on to worry over. He complied to stop when his boyfriend stopped him then quietly observed the dark haired male’s actions. He wondered if there really are valuables in that place after all this time and if they will be the first to enter it. Been a long while since the visit to the jungle so there was a possibility that someone entered the ancient ruins before them and just didn’t survive long enough to tell the tale. He was thinking all of this whilst looking at the skeleton again. "Not everyone gets a good ending" he muttered a few seconds before the grip on his hand had tightened and his boyfriend’s whisper. Not long after passing the statues, running water of a river could be heard. At least three Capybaras were playing in the water down river, “Capybara, largest known rodent” he said as he watched them for a moment. “Our destination might not be too far after crossing this river” he said to Saeki before letting go of his boyfriend’s hand. Kneeling, he touched the edge and used his earth manipulation to temporarily raise some of the river bank in front of them into a bridge that will last long enough for them to cross and not hold up the flow of the water. After he stood back up and said "After you, my dear” he gestured for his boyfriend to cross the bridge first. A few minutes later once the walking continued, a jaguar cub caught in a net hanging ten feet off the ground and it was hard not to notice this scene especially with the frantic cub trying to get out of its entrapment. With the ruins in sight, he presumed his boyfriend would want to help the frantic cub before going over to the ancient temple so he started getting gloves from his bag.

Saeki smiled happily. He enjoyed going out with Patrick. The jungle wasn’t your usual dating spot, but the young man didn’t mind. It worked for them. He only stopped Patrick once because he noticed the patch of land before them had looked odd and he wasn’t eager to fall in any pitfall and get hurt. He didn’t want a repeat from last time, when he couldn’t use his wrist for a while because he fell. The temple was still somewhat on his mind even when they arrived at the skeleton, though it sure brought him back to earth for now. They couldn’t let their attention slip, it was important to keep an eye on their surroundings. He nodded a bit when his boyfriend spoke about endings, they were right. Some people ended badly, like this unfortunate soul.

Eventually they had moved further though, not that Saeki wanted to look at the skeleton for much longer, and moved further into the jungle towards the temple. It was almost soothing to hear the river just ahead. The sound of it flowing through and lapping over the rocks. Saeki could hear some splashing sounds too. Soon enough his curiosity was rewarded when they got to the riverbanks. From their spot they could see strange animals swim. Or strange to Saeki, as Patrick soon named them. "Capybara? They look cute." he whispered as to not spook the animals. He had heard the name before, but this was the first time he saw them! It was hard to imagine some people absolutely didn’t like them.

He looked away from them when he felt Patrick let go of his hand and watched what his boyfriend was doing. When they knelt and created the bridge, Saeki smiled. That looked great! "Wow, nice bridge love. And thanks for helping us cross the stream. It’s probably not a good idea to walk here with wet clothes." he spoke and joined his lover’s side. He chuckled a bit when they told him to go ahead and walked over the bridge. He didn’t even hesitate, he trusted his boyfriend’s skills completely. Once he crossed he waited patiently for Patrick to join him before walking side by side once more. They had been walking for a little bit when the first sounds of the cub reached Saeki’s ears and he looked around carefully.

Sure it was a cub, but usually where there is a cub, there is a grown jaguar. He didn’t see any around though. When they got to the clearing all that could be seen was the scared cub. Saeki was about to ask his boyfriend if they could help it when he saw they were already grabbing gloves. The young man smiled at the other. They were so sweet. "Thanks hun. I don’t see the mother anywhere, so we should be alright." he said and knelt down next to his beloved. "Just tell me where you want me, I’ll do anything to help that poor creature. Well anything that won’t endanger you." he said and waited for some instructions after adding he would do anything as long as it wouldn’t endanger Patrick. It was not in the young man to turn his back to any animal in need, but he also didn’t want the other male to get hurt. Even if this animal had razor sharp claws and could well gobble him up once they grew into their full size, he would do his best.

The whispered word ‘cute’ wasn’t something Patrick would use to describe the appearance of Capybara, but he wasn’t disagreeing with it. They’re supposed to be harmless to people so he wasn’t worried about the large rodents charging at them for any sort of reason. Hadn't crossed the brunette's mind that their clothes could get wet if they crossed the regular way, but it is just as good an excuse to make that bridge. He crossed the bridge right after Saeki had crossed it. He glanced back to make sure the temporary bridge collapsed like it was supposed to. “They would have made for good nature photos” he commented. “Why don’t we, including our furry children, go for a nature walk in this island’s forest after things have calmed down?” he suggested the next outing encountering the captured cub. “I will be leaving most of the work in your capable hands” he said and held out the pair of gloves after getting them out of the bag. “I want you to lower the net while I cut the rope tied to the tree then our next actions will be determined by how the cub reacts. The gloves to avoid direct contact with the animal. I wouldn’t want you catching anything when it can be avoided” he explained what the plan was. Even though the mother is away there was a strong possibility that it is looking for its baby which meant they shouldn’t linger too long in this particular area.

After looking at the animals for a while they crossed the stream and Saeki looked behind them watching the bridge collapse as well. It never ceased to amaze him what his beloved could do with their powers. Compared to Patrick, Saeki was really just ordinary. He had no magic, no special abilities or anything and he was only human. The only thing Saeki had going for him was his mastery of the martial arts. Be it blade, staff or unarmed. Still, it never got between them. They lived perfectly normal lives together. And Saeki wouldn’t trade it for anything. As they walked on he listened to Patrick and smiled as he nodded. "I agree, We missed an opportunity there." he said and chuckled.

"That sounds like a good idea, as long as we keep them out of the jungle. This place isn’t safe for them. The forest back near the beach should be fine though." he spoke about the thought of the outing and smiled. He liked the idea, though they had to make sure they wouldn’t run off into the dangerous jungle then. That was forgotten for a moment though when they encountered the cub. Of course Saeki couldn’t just walk away, they were clearly scared and so young. The young man smiled when he saw his boyfriend already getting ready to rescue it and he took the gloves he was being offered. He wasn’t particularly worried about catching anything like Patrick was but he put on the gloves nonetheless, not wanting to worry his beloved. "Sure thing my love. Let’s get this rescue on the way." he said and walked to the tree.

After looking it over for a moment, he started climbing it carefully, but swiftly. His physique was a clear advantage here as he was quite strong from wielding katanas, staffs and fighting martial arts. His discipline helped him calculate his steps and he reached the net quite quickly. After all, he would need enough rope to lower the poor animal carefully! And he wasn’t that high up. Saeki took a hold of the rope and nodded to Patrick to give them a sign he was ready for the rope to be cut. "I got it hun, you can cut the rope." he said and waited to feel the weight of the cub so he could start lowering it carefully.

Patrick didn’t really care to interact with the wild life, especially with the dangers of doing so internally and externally to oneself and the other party. The planned outing about the forest could be revisited another time in the future. He did think of this situation as another opportunity to see more of his boyfriend’s athleticism. “The view is quite excellent” he thought, smirking while watching Saeki walk up to the tree and climb it. Didn’t feel the least bit guilty in doing so and thinking of it as one of the numerous privileges of being in a romantic relationship. “Roger that, darling” he replied. Took out his pocket knife from his bag then left the bag behind on the ground before approaching the tree trunk where the rope tied at. Examining the rope knot closely he didn’t recognize as one of the basic knots he learned for this trip. He went about cutting the rope next to the knot, “One...two...three!” he counted out loud as the blade sliced into the rope until severed. Stashed the pocket knife to his back pocket and looked to Saeki to see how he is doing right now. He was hoping the cub would run off instead of sticking around when it comes to the fight or flight response once it is released from the net by his boyfriend.

Saeki was unaware he was being stared at as he climbed the tree with ease. His focus was on the cub right now to avoid either one of them getting hurt. He climbed to the height of the cub before he more carefully moved forward on a thick branch that stretched out to hold the net. When he got there and gave the sign to his boyfriend to cut the rope he grabbed onto the rope nearer to the net itself and braced himself with his feet firmly against an outcrop between trunk and branch before slightly lifting up the net before it would be cut. It would hopefully make the release less bumpy for the young animal. The cub was heavier than it looked and it kept squirming but Saeki managed to hold on.

When his beloved counted down, the young man put some of his weight back and part of the rope behind his back to hold the net up more steady before he could feel the entire weight of the wild one in his hands. With some difficulty he managed to lower the net to the ground before letting go, allowing the rope to fall to the ground. The cub squirmed a bit until it freed itself from the remains of the net before running off in the jungle. Saeki smiled and wiped some sweat off his forehead from holding the net up in the humidity and heat of the jungle. "One happy cub, I hope it finds his mother ok." he said and smiled at Patrick on the ground.

He then lowered to another branch before he placed his hands on it and allowed himself to fall over the branch a little, lowered himself to stretched arms and then let go after a calculation moment as he was still quite a ways up. When he landed he bent through his legs to avoid hurting his knees and took off the gloves as he walked to his boyfriend. "Great teamwork my love." he praised Patrick and got ready to gear up again for the rest of the hike. "Let’s go. I think we earned a little rest at our to be camp" he said and winked as he helped them out if necessary to get the gear back in place.

Patrick takes a few steps away from the tree trunk and watches his boyfriend do his role. He was pleased that the cub ran off once it was freed from the net trap. “I hope so too” he agreed with them and hopefully not come across it again and it’s parent on the way out of the jungle. He did have the concern that the person who set up this trap might return while they are still on the scene and the prize animal is gone. Picked up his bag and put the straps back on his broad shoulders. “No problem. Although you deserve most of the credit for the plan to succeed without a hitch” he replied to the praise. “Certainly” he said, smiling at him. “Let’s go. The ancient temple is just a yard or so away” as he led the way in the direction of the ancient temple. Their destination was just a matter of minutes away and they were good on time with how much daylight they had left. At arrival he looked around and got closer to the areas covered in overgrown vines for further inspection to find something different from the last visit on the right side. With a pull here and there to reveal faded looking pictographs of what seemed to be depicting how to enter through a side door entrance. “I think this pictograph confirms there is another way in” he said to Saeki. He was careful with touching the wall in case of slabs that could be triggered by pressure from being pushed in. Could be a good thing if that happens or a trap. He had studied up on pictographs in the city’s library for this kind of deciphering opportunity like this.

Saeki chuckled when Patrick praised his actions. "Couldn’t have done it without your help though. And now it is happily on it’s way back to his mom." he said, giving Patrick a gentle hug before they went on their way again. The young man had the same thought as his boyfriend about leaving before whichever poacher would come for their price and they were soon well on the way to the temple once more. He had done some practice of his own as well in preparation for this very expedition. Saeki had improved in his martial arts. And the young swordsman lacked no conviction whatsoever to fight anyone or anything threatened him or worse so his beloved beside him. It was a good thing Patrick brought a knife though, as he left his katana at home. It had come in handy even before they reached the temple.

When they reached the temple within a few minutes, Saeki also looked around, careful to not touch anything along the way. Unlike his boyfriend, he lacked the knowledge of the pictographs, even a little. After a while he heard Patrick about a way in and the Asian got up from where he had been crouching for a better look at the wall imaging to see if he could find something. Saeki walked to Patrick and knelt next to them, looking at the pictographs they pointed out. "It could be, can you read them?" he asked curiously as he knew Patrick had done some extra research while he had improved on his skill to protect them both in case of trouble. The tiles seemed slightly suspect, but weren’t most of them at ancient temples? It was tempting to try and wipe some caked sand and dust from the images, but Saeki was afraid to trigger something if he did. Sadly he couldn’t make sense of the imagery.

Patrick hadn't noticed that his boyfriend didn't bring his katana with him. This detail was something he would overlook subconsciously what he would commonly see after some time. Confident in his partner’s self-defense skills that he can focus on what comes next. He read the riddle out loud in response to Saeki’s question, "I'm alive, but without breath; I'm as cold in life as in death; I'm never thirsty, though I always drink". He was pretty sure the answer was fish so he traced a symbol on the wall below the riddle. What looked like a wall started to move from bottom to the top exposing an opening that was engulfed by darkness. Although it stopped just below halfway to the top where you have to crawl to get inside. “Might have gotten stuck” he guessed. He put down the bag then rummaged inside the bigger section of it to get out a portable jack and a brick of modeling clay. The clay was used to make a platform via his earth manipulating ability. Once he did that he positioned both under the door then pumped up the car jack. A few moments later, there was enough crouch inside and not have to worry about the wall crashing down on them. “Next we need to secure a way in for any future trips here” he said to Saeki then got out his flashlight and took his bag to go inside the ancient temple.
